Close to city centre and Main Street. Friendly and serviceminded staff. Beautiful views over the harbor and the hills. The restaurant, open in the evening, has a good menu and serves well prepared dinners.
Great staff and location. Breakfast was nice. Strong air conditioning.
Tons of Mosquitos in my room. I had to sleep completely covered by the blanket.
Thomas and Alafia, cousins, were the most friendly and genuine people we had met. We only stayed one night on our way to another island, but they went out of their way to accommodate our needs during the late hour we arrived. Alafia'a drinks were the most amazing, and her shrimp appetizer hit the spot! The hotel is run by the family who put their love and souls into its maintenance and ongoing existence. The value you receive for the cost is well worth it. We would stay there again simply for the people who own it!
Every aspect, as indicated in the above ratings, ranged from very good to excellent! Actually, this was my family's fourth (4th) stay at the hotel - that speaks for itself! An extra perk this time was the on-site Sugarcane Grille which provided delicious food at great prices, without guests having to leave the hotel's premises to get lunch or dinner.
At the time of our stay, WAPA conducted frequent power outages which affected the hotel. Maybe it's time for the hotel's management to consider having an alternative source of electricity.
Great access to downtown Charlotte Amalie. Friendly, personable, and helpful housekeeping and kitchen staff. Flexible administrative staff (especially Thomas). Nice complementary outdoor breakfast overlooking the harbor and quaint hillside. Effective air conditioning. Comfortable beds on both visits.
Lack of elevators with a steep staircase would be tough on some elderly visitors, impractical for ambulatory impaired persons, and impossible for the spinal cord injured.
The staff, and very nice made to order breakfast.
lots of stairs, no elevator
All the things
The food was Ok. The people were polite and came to resolve my issues quickly.
The room need to be updated.
The staff was great. Breakfast was good and the restaurant on site was great.
In a really bad part of town. Parking was a nightmare. The wifi never worked. The beds were really uncomfortable. There were spider webs in the hallways. No elevators so have fun dragging your luggage up all those stairs.
We had a small problem when we arrived in that one of the double beds had a wet spot on the sheets that went down to the mattress pad making the bed unfit for sleeping. No idea how the wet spot got there. The management was extremely nice giving us another room, unfortunately the first room they offered, when we turned on the lights, there were several roaches sitting on the fridge that scurried away. We were given another room that was fine and the manager offered us each a free drink at the bar. The staff was more than accommodating and very pleasant. There are quite a few stairs to climb but the view is beautiful.
The restaurant/bar had excellent food. I had the salad with shrimp. The continental breakfast was very adequate.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was good. Location was good, about a block off one of the main shopping streets.
There was no elevator so be ready to carry your bags up stairs. I was on the 5th floor. Wi-Fi worked but I was at the far end of the service area so it only worked near a window.
Staff has been very nice to us, fixing a mistake I made at reservation time. The room we got was large and nice with great views. It is a few steps from the city center, so location is great if you are in St thomas for shopping or willing to do some social activities in the evenings. Breakfast was better than expected with good fresh pancakes.
Location is not good if you are there for hanging out on a beach. Wifi did not work properly while we were there.
Closeness to downtown area so able to walk to restaurants and shops although the neighborhood isn't the nicest to walk through.
It's a good thing we are fit for our age because there are a lot of stairs to climb especially if you are on the third floor.
Very friendly, accommodating staff. Close to shops and ferry to St. John. On site restaurant very good for breakfast and dinner. We considered the steps as exercise!
Mildew on shower curtain, dilapidated wall with rock pile overlooking balcony.
Very quaint and quiet hotel very close to the main shopping and sight seeing area.
Close to town but not good neighborhood after dark. Very fine breakfast and friendly, helpful staff.
Area after dark.
The staff, organization, and facilities at Bunker Hill were excellent. The Sugarcane grill upstairs is open for lunch and dinner and was fantastic. The best meal and cocktails we had our entire trip. The complementary breakfast was a full made to order breakfast with coffee and OJ. All of the staff were very friendy and helpful. We had stayed at Sunset Gardens Guesthouse the night before and Bunker Hill was an immeasurably better value for the same price. We will stay here anytime we are in St Thomas.
We didn't have a car, but could see how parking might be a challenge if you did.
I like how laid back and relaxed the staff were.
The TV was hard to use.
The young girl at the receptionists desk was VERY helpful and VERY friendly! The complimentary breakfast was nice.
The stairs.... : )
staff we great
Hotel is located close to town centre and staff was very nice.
There seemed to be dangerous neighourhood next to the hotel. WiFi didn't work in our room.
We loved how friendly & helpful the staff were. We also enjoyed that they cared enough about our stay to make sure our honeymoon was absolutely wonderful! The view from the balcony was astounding and we slept like babies (minus the one night our building lost power for about half and hour... Total freak occurrence!)
We wish there would have been a microwave in the room for reheating leftovers, but we did have a mini fridge and we were super thankful for that!!
We arrived late for a one night stay and the room was held for us. The room was not in the main hotel so they sent us to another location about 10mins away for a villa style home with a great view. Clean room with kitchen and clean bathroom. They picked us up on time the next morning for breakfast at the main hotel facility and we were in time for the ferry to RoadTown. Breakfast was really good. Hotel staff was great and very helpful throughout the entire stay!! I would stay at BHH again.
Main hotel location is good to the ferry. Although a bit of a walk. It's not a straight walk to the ferry terminal and the staff could have pointed that out on a map.
I loved the location. The view is great and the feel of the hotel is very unique. The staff was VERY friendly and allowed us to make a cancellation which was very convenient. I read a review and decided to stay here. I'm glad we did for the days we were there. The breakfast was also very good. Some say the location is sketchy but I did not find it to be like that. We didn't walk around the hotel street late night but everything shuts down pretty early on the island so there really is no business past 10pm. Very close to the market and place where all the cruise ship people come to shop. Plenty of restaurants near by. The beds were very comfortable and the A/C was AWESOME. Shower heated up fast as well. I highly recommend staying here.
Parking can be a little bit of a trick but it's like that all over St. Thomas.
