Food, staff at restaurant
Pool area and view from the hotel
1) No way to get any where from the hotel except to take a taxi. Can not walk safely any where of the property. 2) Only clean rooms once a week 3) Staff was not real friendly or helpful, except for the staff in the bar/grill area 4) The Concierge was never there and if so, was not much help. 5) Roosters and chickens roam free on the property. Not real happy when they start crowing at 5am every morning right out your window. Classy! 6) Pretty tired, old property. I understand portions of it are historic, but really that does not mean to not keep it up.
Moving rooms mud vacation.
The room was great . The view was just out of the world.
The ac unit needs to be fixed squeaks all night.
The view is amazing..Great location for shopping and restaurants.
No beach. Cab will cost between $9 - $10 per person.
It was clean
Rude staff, night porter needs to take a customer relations course. To use internet and print 30sheets in reception, they charged me 36USD. Paying 300USD per night, this place is way overpriced and I would avoid in future.
Quick check in and out Large and clean room
Good price, fits a family with 2 parents 2 children comfortably.
Clean, but old and rundown. But at that price it made sense.
Spacious rooms, beautiful views, convenient location and courteous staff.
Room was spacious, bed was comfortable, and room included a fold out bed. Fine breakfast options at good prices. View from room was amazing and we had a nice patio to enjoy it. Didn't get a chance to use the kitchen more than to make coffee, but it was well-stocked; you could definitely save on restaurants if you wanted to cook.
While the facility does have 4 on-site restaurants, there's basically nothing else nearby. The roads into town are tricky and lack sidewalks in places, so we had a dicey time getting out by foot on our first attempt, and even the second we had one section where it was only safe because there was no traffic at the early hour we were walking it. It's not really that bad an issue since cabs are so cheap here ($5/person to get back to the hotel from downtown; $10 to get back from the east end of the island or to go to the airport).
Studio unit with a balcony; comfortable, spacious room at a great price. Loved the restaurant, A Room with a View onsight, though expensive.
Front desk and bell hop were civil, though not exactly warm or friendly.
The castle tower looks really nice. Solar panels on all roofs! Green thinking :) Comfortable beds! Spacious studio Balcony with a really nice view on the cruise ships in the harbour A pool with a nice bar where you can have good breakfast (and delicious wraps!) for a cheap price. You can take a taxi to the city center for $4 per person, takes less than 15 minutes. However, the hotel needs to fix a couple of things in order to be the luxury hotel they pretend to be if you enter the lobby.
Mold on the ceilings in our studio; not nice for Asthma patients; I still have a rash on my skin. The AC needs to be cleaned; smells very humid. Paid wifi ($6 a day!) anno 2014 is medieval. No elevator at the apartments building behind the castle tower, although the hotel claims to be suitable for disabled persons (chair for the pool etc.). Not cool if you are in a wheelchair or with heavy luggage... The decor at the pool looks messy; you can't really see the hotel is renovated in 2011 for millions of dollars according to the news article in the lobby. The woman at the luggage storage desk seemed to be very grumpy.
Quiet, comfortable and the view was amazing. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
No elevators (not that I can find), so I had to climb four flights of stairs with luggage to get to and from room.
I new that this location was not on a beach and specifically chose it because it was overlooking the harbor. All the staff were friendly and always ready to help. For the cost this place is great and I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality at the restaurants. We ate ate both Room with a View and the Banana Grille. They were starting some construction the day we were leaving which would have been disturbing if it was during our stay. We stayed in Hilltop II and the views are spectacular out on the bay and downtown Charlotte Amalie. I would go back to Bluebeard's Castle.
Beautiful view, enjoyed the balcony and where our room was located, we had a corner studio appreciated that. Kitchen was well stocked with necessary plates, cups silverware and cooking utensils.
The staff failed to inform us that this was a time share resort until we were checking in and at time told us we would have to change rooms three days after we were settled in. That would have been a huge inconvenience due to the staff's unprofessional work ethics. The staff also failed to inform us of the transportation provision to the front desk from where we located. More training is needed for the staff in how to display hospitality and kindness.
The staff was very nice. I loved Ms. Jackie, she greeted us with so much love and respect. She is very helpful. The location is within walking distance from downtown and shops. The safari taxi was a great experience you can travel around for a dollar. Taxi's are not too expensive. It was a wonderful anniversary getaway. The breakfast at the pool corner and the cabana bar food was excellent. The place was super clean and safe. I am definitly going back.
The 2 male waiters at the cabana bar at night were kind of rude, had no people skills and were grumpy. But the food was incredibly delicious.
Great pool bar with reasonable prices and good breakfast, and free wi fi by the pool. The Banana Tree Grill was excellent for dinner with awesome Gorgonzola Bread and Creamed Spinach
No elevator in our building, Noisy AC in our room. Quoted $109 on Booking.com and charged $114 for the room
Very poor service and a fan right outside my door that sounded like there was a road right outside the front door.
I really enjoyed Bluebeard's Castle. Very unique property. Loved looking at the cruise ships from the pool area. Just wished the gift shop was open for souvenirs, but it was being remodeled. I would definitely stay here again! The woman at the front desk was always very friendly & helpful.
The only thing I didn't like was all the stairs, but that's just because I have a bad leg. Comes with the uniqueness of the hotel though, so it was worth it!
The views were breath taking!!!! The accommodatuons were very comfortable Be sure to grab bottles of drinking water.no vending machines. Place closes up tight exactly at 10:00 pm
No portable water, nor food available after 10:00. Office staff very unfriendly. Definitely need car or taxi
I like everything else
Need maids to clean room more often....
I like everything! Ms. Onika was very polite and exhibit good customer service skills
This is my second year is a row I've stayed at the Bluebeard castle and The entire staff was very informative and attentive to our need. We love the view. Hopefully I'll can make it back next year!
The only suggestion I would make is changing the towels. They are very worn and rough on the body.
Easy to walk to town with beautiful views. Very nice and spacious grounds, not the typical hotel. We lived here in St Thomas years ago and this hotel has the island charm. Much less expensive than expected. Excellent restaurants on the property.
Bluebeard's Castle exceeded my expectations. The view is amazing! The staff especially Jackie and Claudette and the bell, wait, and restaurant staff were all accommodating and pleasant. Set on a hill, this castle-hotel is enchanting and immaculate. My room was cleaned to perfection. It came equipped with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, and the room also had a digital safe, iron and ironing board. Did I mention the room had a balcony? With a great view overlooking St. Thomas? You won't regret this location.
