Caneel Bay, A Rosewood Resort  

The grounds were huge, beautiful and well manicured. The size of the property meant that the resort never felt crowded. Our room was well serviced, and there was a lot to do - hiking, snorkeling, swimming or sunbathing at 7 of the resort's private beaches; tennis; scuba and sailing.

The food was terrible - bland, Americanized and expensive. There was barely an attempt to provide any kind of local Caribbean food or flavors. We had to leave the resort (hard without a car) to find edible food.

The staff was extra friendly and helpful at all times. The grounds are well kept and beautiful with local flora.

On Saturday we got married on St Thomas and planned on returning to Caneel Bay for lunch and enjoy the complementary champagne on the patio in the area just outside the dinning room with a beautiful view of the bay. On the ferry back the Caneel Bay I noticed that we were the only guests on the boat and it was packed with locals. It was at that point that I realized that something was not as I had expected. The hotel did announce that they would be having a limited lunch menu as they were planning a picnic lunch. As the ferry arrived you were able to see the carnival atmosphere with children and young adults packed into the space where we were going to enjoy our lunch and celebrate our marriage with the champagne. I was told that it was an appreciation party for employees and their families. As my new wife tried to get in line for some picnic food she was pushed and shoved by the kids both very young and their parents which many were children themselves. I was told that the staff was instructed to tell their families that paying guests were to be let ahead of the line. That didn't work!!! My wife's bridal bouquet was knocked out of her hands and stepped upon by two boys running in and out of the guests playing tag. I later went into the restroom and two young boys, approx 10 years of age, were having a game to see who could pee higher up the wall.. When my wife complained to one of the managers (green shirt) he just kept trying to make excuses and I'm not sure if I ever heard an apology from him. We were told that we told that we could take our lunch back to our beach at Scott Cove. At $550 a night with taxes I didn't expect that I would be sequestered to my room and not have full use of the result. The music was so loud that it still boomed at our room. By this time my wife was in tears and there was no way to save the day.

The beach and snorkeling was the best I have ever experienced. The beds were really comfortable too. I actually enjoyed no phone or tv in the room. The best thing I liked was how much my wife enjoyed the resorts beauty and wild animals.

Very expensive!! Who "likes" that?

Les plages merveilleuses et la nature luxuriante ,la beauté du site,la pureté de l eau et l. Aménagement du site ,les animaux en liberté biches ânes font des compagnons de promenade merveilleux ,la grandeur des chambres et la vue sur la mer depuis la terrasse .

Je veus bien que l exceptionnel soit chère mais c est vraiment très chère pour l ancienneté de l ameublement et des salles de bains entre les stores qui ont du mal à s ouvrir pour découvrir la beauté du paysage,mais sinon vraiment c est bien .je rêve un jour d y retourner
