There wasn't hot water. Room needed fixing up
food was excellent at the restaurant as well, would stay here again. views were great, has old historic charm to the buildings and it is convenient to charlotte amalie and the magens bay beach
Everything was delightful.
The Mafolie hotel took care of us! We were involved in a hit and run accident in our rental car in front of the hotel and they took care of us. The customer service was beyond excellent and much appreciated.
Our room was ready for us with the extra bed we had requested. Even with the extra bed and the futon pulled out, there was plenty of room. The pool was a perfect place for our children to unwind. We were able to check out beach towels for our excursions. The continental breakfast included hard boiled eggs along with the variety of breads and fruit. This was great for our diabetic family member who needs protein with meals. Of course the view was spectacular.
We had to leave.
Room was clean and comfortable. The people were very nice and helpful. Cannot beat the value and the view is beautiful! I would gladly recommend!
This was perfect for us. Secluded stay for one night away from all the traffic and noise. Great dinner and beatiful view.
Can be a little far away if you are looking to get into town but cabs are readily available
We just did one night here before we went to BVI for our sailing vacation. I was pleasantly surprised at the lovely views and charming rooms. The staff was amazing and very helpful.
We could not have been more pleased with the Mafolie Hotel this week for our babymoon! There is no better view on the island!, the restaurant view was incredible with a delicious dinner! Duncan was our server and he was so down to earth and attentive! He gave us many tips on where to go while visiting! We had the blessing of staying in one of the suites on our last night there and it was truly gorgeous!! The view, the décor, the romantic ambiance, was so perfect for a couples getaway! We cannot thank Chad enough who was so fun and accommodating from the moment we met him! We love you and cant thank you enough for taking such good care of us during our stay!! We will definitely be back to Mafolie!!
Booked a room for our daughter and new husband on their wedding night, the staff was the best! They put a giant heart of fresh flowers on the bed and had champagne on ice! Perfect room with a beautiful view. It was perfect, highly recomend!!!!!
It was perfect
The view was amazing, the hotel was very clean. And dinner was great.
There are so many stairs and no one to help with bags. It was a struggle to get our bags to our rooms. The young man who checked us in was indifferent to the challenge. Thankfully, the cab driver helped us at departure. Breakfast wasn't refilled - arrive early. Internet is sketchy - depends on your room location.
The view was great, the staff could not do enough.
The view Staff was friendly and helpful My room was big and clean
Only 1 lamp worked
The view is amazing. You can't get enough of it. The restaurant food was great and the staff could not do enough for us.
Staff was excellent especially the afternoon office guy who turns into a bartender. Very clear focus on the many customers and over-the-top accommodating to both locals and tourists. Dinner was exceptional with the full moon as a backdrop! Awesome place. Thanks for a great room-113-with our own balcony. The Waters Family Keller TX
Missed breakfast since we had to leave early but office lady said "sack breakfast" would be waiting. Probably just missed her description of "where". But a very very minor thing!
Lovely staff and beautiful views. The room was great, lovely falling asleep to tree frogs and a fresh breeze, protected by a mosquito net.
The VIEWS! The Rooms- (King bed had luxury sheets and 6 pillows!) Friendly and courteous staff, relaxing atmosphere, and the food was delicious! We never left the hotel! We will stay here again.
The shower tile could have been cleaner- but we had just spent a week on a boat so it's all about perspective.
The view is fantastic!
Everything... most romantic place!
The view, the restaurant, and the "nested" feel of the gardens and patios were extremely nice. The restaurant's food was the bomb and the staff were wonderful. I highly suggest the crabcakes.
The views from the pool and the restaurant were beautiful.
No running water for the first day of our stay. Free WiFi was available but it did not connect to the internet.
I selected the Mafolie for two reasons: the view and the central location. For that, I had no disappointment. In addition, almost every staff member I encountered was tuned in to guest services. (The young man in the front office on Friday and Saturday helped so much with securing taxis and providing information as I explored the island---and always with a smile.) The Mafolie isn’t a “resort,” but it offered me the perfect weekend getaway I was looking for---not too crowded, not heavily populated with kids, relatively quiet (the sounds of the bands drifting uphill from pre-Carnival festivities can’t be helped), and a no-fuss (come and go) breakfast. It’s a unique property that left me refreshed with after a Caribbean escape. Not only does the stay come with the great view, that view means you’re rather centrally located; I was able easily to check out many areas of the island—Magens Bay, Red Hook, Charlotte Amalie, and more with easily arranged cab rides. It was easy to come and go to see many areas of the island without the fuss of many larger resort type places.
Other reviewers are correct in that the wireless signal isn’t great in many areas of the hotel. Also, this isn’t “plush” by any means; the price is for the view, not the amenities. And yes, the property shows some wear; investing in updates would go far for repeat business. Breakfast did not seem well tended to. (Another guest had to show others how to use the egg sandwich maker, and coffee ran out with no one around to refill the container.) But I did not attend to be pampered. And when I mentioned these things over a late cocktail my last night, I got the impression genuine care was taken with my feedback.
Great location. Great view. Great restaurant.
Asked for a wake up call to catch plane. No one called. Guess that's why we have our cell phone alarms.
The value was great. The service was outstanding. The food was excellent. The view from the restaurant and room were breathtaking. We will be back.
