Excellent location close to all sights in Charlotte Amalie; spacious room, nice private bathroom. Splendid views from the terrace WiFi is not free; very thin walls (couple in next room was fighting all night...)

Attractive, funky decor; friendly and helpful manager, great location; nice rooftop pool; good price. Several flights of stairs before you get to the lobby -- can be an issue for older travelers or those carrying heavy luggage. Our room was comfortable but very small.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We asked for travel tips on several occasions and they were always ready to help. Breakfast every morning was great! All the steps at the end of a long day!

It was right in the downtown of Charlotte Amalie. Easy to get a taxi from there to anywhere in St Thomas. Also the breakfast was decent. The staff were good as well. Well the steps to the hotel room were too many. This is especially a problem when u have to carry your luggage during checking-in and out. More importantly, I didn't like the fact that I was charged 20% more than what I 'thought' I would be paying when I made my booking on Booking.com - 10% extra for service and 10% as tax upon the price that was shown on Booking.com. When businesses do this (look more affordable but then add hidden charges) just so they are listed higher on price comparison sites, I think it is paramount to cheating. And for that I've given least rating for Value for money. Thanks

My husband and I liked the location, up on the hill but comfortable walking distance to the town. We loved the view from the breakfast terrace, but most of all we liked the exceptional caring service. All of this for a reasonable price. ( We were thereas guests at a wedding. The evening before the wedding I noticed that I forgot to bring stockings to wear with my dress. Asked the front desk clerc, Gail, where can I buy stockings. She told me, but next morning she showed up with a pair of new stockings from her home, just in case I had a problem buying one.You don't get this at the Hilton. The atmosphere reminded us of pensions on the French Riviera. You have to be aware that they have both windowed outside rooms, but also some windowless inside rooms. Walking up on many stairs from street level to the building was not a problem for us, (we are in our '70s), but we would not recommend staying there for people who have a problem with stairs.

Location, location, location! The very familiar atmosphere, with friendly staff and guests. Tiny room yet very instrumental for a solo traveler, did not think that shared bathroom could be so easy to handle! Decent breakfast to order with 3 choices, not big but just enough to start well the day. Yet extra / double portion available for only 5 USD. Flexibility to get an extra day booked on last minute, for decent price despite weekend. No free wifi, charged by the internet provider at 10 usd / day.

The staff there were absolutely lovely. From the moment I arrived, Gail went out of her way to be helpful. She and Heather were extremely friendly, and very very friendly. Even the gardener was wonderful and helpful. Nothing was too much to ask for or to do and they all went out of their way to make my stay pleasant. I spend a lot of time in the islands and this was truly one of the most pleasant stays I have had. Islands like St. Maarten could learn a thing or two from these ladies...I will definitely stay there again while I am in St. Thomas. Kudos to Gail, Heather and Cornelius! I had to walk up many many steps with a very heavy suitcase. The entrance to the property is on the street but like everywhere in St. Thomas, stairs are a mainstay and you must get used to it. But this was a small price to pay for such a pleasant stay with such lovely staff.

first and foremost, the staff is awsome, your always met with a smile and friendly attitude, and great breakfast. Gail is a new member of the staff and is a treasure. all in all galleon house can't be beat for the budget minded travler. as most will say, the climb up the stairs to get there is a little tough with bags, but not bad. after a couple trips up and down it's like second nature.

The personalized attention. I travelled with two young children and they felt right at home. We engaged in conversation with the staff, something lacking in large hotels. The view is spectacular. Too many steps. Wish there had been another option to getting to the top. It is not easily accessible for older or handicap folk.

The Staff is FANTASTIC!! The views (if you stay in rooms 103 or 104 on the top floor) are out of this world. The included full breakfasts are really good as well. We will definitely stay here whenever we are passing through C.A. If you are looking for a new 5 start resort, this isn't it. Old building, small rooms.

It is centrally located and cheap for the US Virgin Islands. The breakfast was good and the staff - well, I saw only the manager - was friendly. Good view of the harbour. I would recommend it for economy, but not for the unfit (please see below). The climb from the road was not what I expected. I had to take my bags up one at a time: very steep, old stairs. I could have figured out that inconvenience had I studied a contour map of the town: many properties are up the hill.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The view from the dinning area and our room was beautiful. The breakfast was not fancy but tasted like home cooking and very good. Good location to the harbor and many restuarants and activities. It should be made very clear to anyone who is going to go there, that there are alot of steps that you need to carry your luggage up (50 just to the lobby) then more to your room. It is not for the faint of heart or anyone who is physically in poor shape. In the long run this was not a problem for our group but it could be for some.

The hotel is in a great location, extremely central to the main shopping strip. It also has a beautiful view of the city. People were friendly and helpful and it was comfortable and clean. We used the shared bathroom and it was very clean and nice. Lovely veranda. A/c and tv in room. It seems pretty overpriced. We paid $106 for a simple room with shared bath. I would have loved it if the room were more like $40 or $60, but online, it was the cheapest we could find in town. :( Also, our sheets were a bit stained. I'm sure they were clean, but it's a little icky.

The staff at Galleon House was so friendly and helpful. They had lots of local knowledge and were happy to take a few minutes to chat. The included breakfast was great. I stayed there on my way to and from the BVI. On the first night I got a free upgrade to a balcony room but on the second/last night I got a windowless room. Both rooms were clean and having no window the second night wasn't a big deal for a short stay. This isn't a luxury hotel. It's a quirky fun inexpensive place to stay in St. Thomas. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
