Friendly stuff, amazing view over the harbour
place didn't have an alcohol license, so we could not enjoy a glass of wine from the bar
The view was great...but could not make up for the misrepresentation of this place; we expected (and paid for) a full service hotel...and got a semi-abandonned wreck.
The bar and restaurant shut down Jan 1, 2015; no mention of this on the website; no apology in person and no compensation offered for much reduced facilities - instead offered to sell us a beer from a cooler behind the office desk! Lack of facilities a nuisance when you are so far from the town centre and any other restaurants. Neglect of grounds was clear - overgrown grass around a not-too-clean pool and grubby rooms. Abandonned atmosphere so obvious that finally someone admitted they are shutting down in May 2015. complete waste of money!!
Everything, although there were a lot of steps and we were in 3 at very bottom, but still beautiful and worthwhile...the Staff in the front desk( young big stature Gentleman,I'm awful at names, but he looked of maybe Somoian..) He was so helpful and nice especially since I had missed the ferry to the BVI that am, I appreciate him taking the time to help me figure out the schedule aND where I needed to be aND when..ty again and looking to make
Nice view. but that was it.
We stayed at this hotel for the convenience of having a restaurant and bar. We had neither!! We were told it had been closed and the hotel is closing in May 2015. We should have been told this before we booked. We also were told we had a queen size bed and a terrace. We did not.... it was on our receipt from Booking.com. We had a double bed and when asked about the terrace we were told we don't have one. Other rooms did however. We also had many steps ..62 to be exact to climb up and down everytime we went out of our room. We had someone in our party that had a torn meniscus in their knee.
1-NO RESTAURANT OR CAFETERIA 2-NO VENDING MACHINE SNACKS OR SODAS
We stayed in the hotel for 5 nights during Christmas and rented the big room for a family of 5. The room is pretty spacious and has 2 bathrooms. Decoration is simple but we felt very comfortable there. The view of St. Thomas from the hotel is spectacular and the proximity to the main restaurants is also a plus. Continental breakfast is included and the lady that manages it is very nice. The hotel also serves dinner, with few plates but very well prepared. I definitely recommend this hotel.
The best view in St.Thomas
Close to down town Charlotte Amalie. Exotic hotel and fantastic view. We enjoyed the stay. Recommendable.
No services and simple breakfast. Deadly silent.
The location and the view.
The fact that this historic place was closing and the bar closed during iur stay.
The view and bar area
Our room location 4 flights down with no view Hard to lug luggage up and down
On line this hotel was suppose to have a bar and restaurant. None was open. Close for good. Had to walk 62 steps to and from our rooms. Not what we expected at all.
We booked a king room with a balcony. The building is older but well kept and clean. The staff was very nice and the tour guides gave us a very entertaining. Each morning you can have coffee and breakfast overlooking the harbor. We'll stay here again.
Going to close doors in May 2015. No resturant no bar no entertainment. Had to walk 62 steps to and from our rooms. yuk. No ac, tv, or hot water in our room
Really nothing but location
staff was very accomodating
rooms could use some updating and the mechanical services ie hot water could be better, fans in rooms need sevicing ( 1 didnt work and 1 was very noisey) other wise we were happy and would stay again if we come back to st thomas
Wonderful place for a wonderful price - found in a jam - but would stay there again.Beautiful pools and beautiful views - great staff - cool place.
This inn has the potential for greatness. The views are wonderful, the staff is genuine and the ambience has potential.
This place touts a bar and a restaurant; neither of which were open. The ceilings were very thin, with a lot of noise coming through. In general, upkeep was good except it is apparent that it needs updating.
The view was great
It needs a serious facelift. The bed was awful, the room smelled and the lady the cleaned our room was very rude. I wouldn't suggest this place, nor go back.
Management (Christopher) was the best. You can't beat the fantastic views and the awsome outdoor bar. The price is quite reasonable and the room (king west wing) was very comfortable. I will stay there again when next I am there.
Not much. The only "server" at breakfast was slightly over tasked, but all was ok.
Staff was excellent. We were treated as if staying at a high priced boutique hotel.
The hill as we like to walk.
The staff, restaurant, and grounds we incredible! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
We rented a jeep, and had some difficulty finding it at first.
Amazing view over St Thomas. Nice cozy hotel, which is not overrun. Chris the barkeeper is mixing some amazing Painkillers!
Historic, close to town, killer views, great food and bar staff.
"Island" wifi is very weak, almost of no use.
The facilities are in great shape and the views of the bay are beautiful. The rooms are clean and comfortable.
Most of the staff was not focused on their work. For example, we and another couple arrived late and stood outside the gate for almost 15 minutes waiting for someone to let us in. No one answered the bell, the phone or our knocking. The just arrived night guard let us in. Breakfast was adequate but all the tables were staffed by one person who was unable to get to everyone in a timely manner.
Location and Food and Security.
A little noise from room over my room.
Supper nice staff. The view. The free museum. The location.
The rooms could have used some upgrades. Otherwise, it's a fantastic place.
