|This St. Thomas resort is on 1,000 feet of private beach on the Caribbean Sea. It features a famous snorkel “booze hunt”, a poolside bar, and rooms with ocean views.|
Amazing view over St Thomas. Nice cozy hotel, which is not overrun. Chris the barkeeper is mixing some amazing Painkillers!
Historic, close to town, killer views, great food and bar staff.
"Island" wifi is very weak, almost of no use.
The facilities are in great shape and the views of the bay are beautiful. The rooms are clean and comfortable.
Most of the staff was not focused on their work. For example, we and another couple arrived late and stood outside the gate for almost 15 minutes waiting for someone to let us in. No one answered the bell, the phone or our knocking. The just arrived night guard let us in. Breakfast was adequate but all the tables were staffed by one person who was unable to get to everyone in a timely manner.
Location and Food and Security.
A little noise from room over my room.
Supper nice staff. The view. The free museum. The location.
The rooms could have used some upgrades. Otherwise, it's a fantastic place.
The VIEW was Great
too many steps up & down
Attention from management in ensuring all needs were met
Insufficient air conditioner
friendly staff, doing their best.
This place is not using fully the potential of the location - restaurant shall be reopened with such a nice view from the bar.
It is off season by a few weeks. Great view of the bay and town
No restaurant service because off season
The place had wonderful character and room was delightful. We were exceptionally struck by the cleanliness of everything. It is difficult to keep things so clean in a resort area and it showed that the staff takes great pride in their jobs
tony, told a great story of Blackbeard. the view was awesome , you could see the harbor and cruise ships, & we felt safe on the 4 acre property. great for kids and adults something for everyone. you could walk down to town (yatch haven), from a lot of stairs almost directly to the post office and water. can't do that from anyplace else.
one grumpy old lady that was working in haggesen house. didn't want anyone touring, cause she had to get off her chair & she wasn't that old. all the other workers were very friendly, 1 bad apple that should go....
loved it ! ; A diamond in the rough, we visited at the end of the off season, so everything wasn't in full operation model, the rooms simple but clean, the staff was wonderful great location, slept well every night grounds very secure.
The room was great, the view was really nice.
you can only get there in and out with a taxi. Since it was out of season it was like a ghost hotel, never saw anyone else - however, it was not an issue.
Great facility. Christopher was very friendly and helpful. Room was upgraded because it was one in our parties birthday. Excellent outside bar with a great view, helpful and friendly bartender.
The comfort of the room. Great shower.....balcony view.... great mattress....wonderful grounds.
I lived many years ago just down the hill from the castle and never visited it. It was a surprise and a pleasure when I did. The views are spectacular and the grounds are wonderfully maintained. The day after arriving, the storm came. But we felt safe and secure watching it from our balcony.
There really was nothing I did not like. Only that we were only there for two days.
The price was great. I got upgraded to a better room for the same price point and the Manager and the Bartender were particularly awesome. It felt like a community away from home. And the views are amazing!!
There was one staff member that didn't speak English well and was almost abrasive. And beware of the stairs. Inquire after a room with a balcony to avoid them.
Friendly, helpful staff.
room, bed, view, bartender, very calm and quiet.
front desk staff, not very helpful. gas got siphoned out the jeep parked on the property.
Service vaule food view Bed was great a
I booked one night on the back end of a sailing trip. I was looking forward to the historic tour, but they were not available on Sunday. Also, most of the pirate statues are locked behind a gate and not accessible unless you take the tour. Views of the bay were fantastic. John, the hotel manager, was helpful and friendly. Server in the restaurant,Tanifa was great.
Hot water was not hot. Food in the restaurant was uneven, but the service was good. Sushi roll was fresh. Garlic roasted chicken was simple but tasty. The 'au jus' was more like warmed over gravy. Do not order the lobster crostini, margarita or mojito.
Caring staff, INCREDIBLE views, historic architecture, and privacy... The hotel sets a top one of the islands many inclines, secure and secluded, yet 5 mins., by foot, from the action... I shall return!!!!
Location was historic, clean and had great views.
Hotel Staff and looked on as we tried to carry four suitcases up five sets of long stairs, was soaked in sweat before I could check out. No elevators available, so just be in great shape before you stay in the S wing. Hotel staff did meet us at the room but just turned off the air then watched us as we carried the luggage up one stair case after another. Also, no phones or alarm clocks in room.
Location was exellent
A little dated.
We loved Blackbeard's Castle. It was nice and quiet...and very close to restaurants.
