Convenience to ferry terminal
Restaurant was out of several things we tried to order. Shower water temp was hard to control.
The location, the view
Nothing wrong, very nice stay
It was the perfect hotel to spend our first night in St. Thomas before taking the Fast Ferry over to Tortola for our sailing charter. Close to the amenities and shopping in St. Thomas and walking distance to the Ferry. Staff was very friendly and the courtyard bar and outdoor eating area was nice.
Breakfast service was extremely, actually ridiculously, slow on the Saturday morning we were there (24 Jan). Management should consider offering a buffet or continental breakfast since the service was so poor or perhaps there simply wasn't enough staff. I recall one young waiter had to wait on the entire room of about 30 guests.
Staff is almost universally customer orientated and pleasant. Property has nice architectural impression and the rooms are good size. On site restaurant is very good and amenities pretty much meet all needs. Overall good as compared to area hotels save for high-end alternatives. Waterfront rooms and convenient to airport.
Dated property that could use refresh. Room mirror light inoperative, tub skid strips missing or lifting on ends, exercise room bikes missing power supply and can not provide resistance. Exercise room is worst presentation of property. So so on area amenities.
Good location for catching ferry
Over priced, building is getting tired.
We have stayed at the Windward Passage many times over the past 15 years at the start and end of sailing vacations to the USVI and BVI. This year we were very pleasantly surprised at the updates that have been made to the facility. Mostly many small things here and there like the new tile on the pillars in the lobby, fresh paint, new artwork in the courtyard, etc. It all shows an effort to improve the overall experience.
Central courtyard, friendly staff, location was nice and close to central town.
Location and coutyard
The hotel needs a revamp. It's very tired looking.
The hotel was fairly nice and clean. The location is fantastic. I don't think it can be beat for access to shopping and the ferry terminal. The hotel held our bags for us while we did some shopping before our ferry. They were very accommodating.
We were awakened before 6am by workers (not the hotel's) that were sanding some wood benches in the back of the hotel. It was loud. When we mentioned it at checkout, the hotel staff didn't have any idea. I doubt if anyone else will have that experience, but it was pretty frustrating.
Perfect location to do a little site seeing and shopping. Friendly staff, very clean and a beautiful room!
We stayed here for a week and we booked this place last minute. We were a little hesitant from the reviews, but we didn't really have much of a choice. Well we were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, the bed was good, and the location was great.
We reserved one of the rooms without a view and we got a back street view. Not very exciting, but thank goodness for the double pained windows it blocked out most of the noise.
Location was good for Ferry to St Johns and shopping.
Aircon Leaked & toilet blocked upon arrival. My ' view ' room was of the hill and a baseball field. We were moved to 3 different rooms after our first rooms problem and each time i was told i had to come get the key from reception to find the staff ' busy ' sleeping. when i asked what it would cost for a sea view i was told - to much!! Got back from the beach in the evening one day and to only find after my shower that the towels had not been restocked - waited 15mins for a towel. They say upgraded rooms - upgraded in 1980 maybe.
Breakfast, casino & pool. Safari out front or taxi hailed quite quickly. The massage therapist I had in the salon was excellant.
SERVICE or should I say complete lack of. Front desk was rude, cleaning staff was rude & VERY slow.
The room is too small and ordinary to have an average nightly rate of $200 (after tax and service charges). The receptionists are too slow in processing check-ins. I remember I was waiting for like 30 minutes!
Very close to the ferry dock so there's no need to stress in trying to catch the ferry.
Helpful staff. Good food. Near to the ferry dock. Fast taxi service.
The tv and coffee maker not working. The fact that I paid on line, and ended up paying double the price AFTER calling the hotel (the receptionist assured me it would be ok to change my booking to the next day) when my sisters was cancelled from the uk to the next day. At the check in desk the two ladies finally agreed to let us change the date from 22nd December to the 23rd December. When checking out I was told I would have to pay for the previous booking! I would have booked into a cheaper hotel if I had known. It ruined my stay, as cost me just under $600 for a 1 nights stay.
It's across the street from the ferry dock and close to the airport. I fly in to STT arriving at 2135, stay overnight and take the ferry to Tortola. When leaving BVI I take the ferry to Charlotte Amalie stay over night and take the 0900 flight to Miami. So it is very convenient for me and the price is as good or better than other hotels.
Convenient for the ferry to the BVI of you have to overnight. Clean and tidy motel type accommodation. A bit pricey for what it is, but the USVI is expensive.
A bit pricey.
Just across the road from the ferry, nice terrace with pool
Staff rude, manager away on holiday, arrived late at night no reservation having booked through booking.com? Bar closed because till not working, bellboy running in all directions to let guests in their rooms as key card machine in reception not working and bedroom doors impossible to open.
It's close to the Airport and across the street from the Ferry Dock in St. Thomas. I left on the ferry the next morning to Tortola, BVI.
Very disorganized at check inn. One clerk for 20 people or more. The room keys never worked for entire floors. Had to wait for bellboy to come around and let you in your own room. Air con dripped on tile floor and caused puddle in the middle of the night and darkness. Stepped into it while going to bathroom and fell. Never could imagine such thing. Tried to get in touch with manager not available. No one cares about fixing anything as there are too many people willing to stay due to price and location. You should avoid this hotel like the plague!!!!
The hotel is located opposite the ferry terminal which is great when travelling to the other islands
The fridge in the room was very noisy. I had to unplug it at night so I could sleep
Very little. They touted security yet I wss woken up twice with people knocking on my door... Did not answer.
The list is to long. This is a non-flagged hotel. It will never quality for a flag. Room had smoked windows...Nice! There was no hot water for the shower. The AC worked but was older. The bathroom was a joke. Turning on the shower taps a dirty black film came out! The lighting in the bathroom was frightful. The restaurant was a pitiful and empty. Dangerous neighborhood. On checking in, everything in the hotel was closed. Counseled not to leave the hotel. The fitness room was a complete farce. It was terrible. The booking promised a flat screen TV. There was one on the old fashioned digital TVs. Furniture really old. Fridge disgusting - yuck. The staff were okay to a point. Located opposite a grotty warf, full of homeless. Smelled really bad. Asked for dining recommendations. None to be had yet on checking out I came about a restaurant guide complete with menus. I caution do not book this hotel. Try not to stay in Charlotte Amalie.
The sliding door was not latched, and would not latch in our room, had to wedge something in the door to prevent it from being opened from the outside. Pool OOS
