Perfectly situated 5 mins from town with couple of shops 2 mins away but secluded enough to make you feel yr in the middle of nowhere. Lovely bungalows with everything you need, very clean and serviced every day. Some overlooking the beach (a must). Very friendly staff but not much English spoken.
Wi-fi no good in bungalows but brilliant in breakfast/bar area. Breakfast not great - could be so much better with so little effort. Friendly staff but service attrocious!
the private beach is clean and is a great advantage for the hotel. The rooms have basic furnitures but are very comfty and clean. There is airco and the wifi works very well in the rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can rent a scooter for 120kvnd a day. It's only 10/15min walk from the center of the village. They can pick you up at the airport for 50kvnd/person, much cheaper than a cab (300kvnd). There are few restaurants around, we liked the one at beach club (just 3min walk from the hotel). We stayed 8 nights. This hotel is a very good place for a very reasonable price.
The minus were : there is no restaurant within the hotel. They serve breakfast, but only drinks during the day. Not attribuable to the hotel but 1/Unfortunately, the seaport is too near and it spoils the sea view. 2/ There are buildings under constructions just 150meters from the hotel, it was on pause while we were there as it was têt holidays.
This place is a great glamping experience. Right on the beach front and close to a couple of nice restaurants and shops for supplies. They offer scooter and bike hire, for the equivalent of £3.50 a day I'd highly recommend hiring a scooter and exploring the island. The triangular bedroom was surprisingly quite spacious inside! Very quaint little spot, we enjoyed our short stay here.
The towels where very well used therefore very thin and you only got one each. Perhaps new towels may be in order?
Good location Beach to ourselves pretty much
Great value & location is right on the beach. Make sure you take the sea view option as the "mountain view" just faces the road. Wifi was hit and miss but pretty quick when I did get on - worked much better by reception than in the rooms. Bed was a little hard but I may have been spoilt by the particularly nice bed I'd had for the 5 nights before in Hoi An!! If you like a firm mattress you will love it. A mosquito net is included FoC. The island itself is beautiful and relatively unspoilt. Recommend visiting the island for 3 - 5 days. Any more than that might be a bit much as there is relatively little to do there.... but that's it's main charm!
Some staff were very friendly and helpful but some were less so.
The location is pretty good. We can walk to the beach in less than 2 minutes. The staffs are friendly, nice and welcoming. We love the atmosphere there. It is quiet and you can hear the waves sound every night. Breakfast is not too bad. Reasonable price. We recommend this location for groups of friends or couples.
One thing is that we couldn't access to the wifi at all. We have to use our data instead of that free wifi they mentioned on the post. Besides that, they couldn't fix the problem of satellite tivi when it occurred.
Our room was clean and the location was great. A great value for anyone looking to stay on the island. Would stay there again.
Wind caused the wifi to be unreliable.
Location right on the beach but a 15 minute walk to town. If you want good advice on where to go in Con Dao go to Bar200 or DiveDiveDive. You will get better guidance here than at Con Dao Camping. Also they will be honest about diving visibility. Don't be fooled - Con Dao is not a year round diving spot. You can't dive in the winter as the winds are too high and visibility poor. The only cost effective transport on the island is to hire a motorbike but if you haven't done it before don't hire from resort as they won't help you that much. My husband cut his foot very badly just trying to take it out. Go to Bar200 for more help. Taxis outside of town are expensive and car hire is non existant. Breakfast was good but no lunch options. Drinks options were limited but served all day. Good restaurant in town was Thu Ba. Authentic Vietnamese food. Take suncream as you can't buy it anywhere onCon Dao.
The main person on reception was not always very helpful and we appeared to be a nuisance when asking for help. Other staff were much nicer though. We were woken at 6.30am each day by the staff sweeping up and talking outside. Bed was very hard so we slept badly anyway.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were simple but very good value. Cabins were basic but comfortable and everything worked. Location is good, near town and right by the beach.
Could have done with chairs in the rooms and more loungers outside. We had two cabins - one smelled a bit musty but otherwise fine. Bathroom floors got very wet during showers, but everything is tiled so wet feet are not really a problem. Broken corrugated iron fence on the adjacent plot - not their fault but ugly nonetheless.
Good location, spacious bungalows, comfy bed and nice hot shower. Beach view is lovely.
The staff at Con Dao Camping are useless. Don't expect them to give you any information about the town, you can see Larry at Dive Dive Dive or Gordon at Bar 200 and they are more than happy to help. The staff were rude and unhelpful to me and their English is almost non existent. The cleaners are up sweeping every morning at around 6am and then proceed to hussle you from your room so they can start cleaning around 8am, don't expect a sleep in. I came to breakfast on my second to last day and their computer record allegedly showed I was checking out that day. When I showed them my booking info they then told me I would have to change rooms?! So they double booked the room and I had to move.. I refused to do so I could not believe that they even asked. It's a shame really, the bungalows are very cosy but the staff completely spoilt my stay here. I would like to come back to Con Dao, and I will not be staying here again.
The staff showed real concern first when my partner injured himself cutting his fingers... then when I crashed the scooter. Nothing was too much of a problem for them. Will definitely be going back!
No problems here
The beachside location was great and easy to walk to nearby restaurants. The bungalows were comfortable and clean and had everything you needed. The beach and sea were very clean, which is unusual for Vietnam! Don't be put off by comments about the new pier, yes it is directly adjacent to the hotel, but it doesn't detract from being a great place to swim and relax.
One of the staff was miserable and surley looking and clearly didn't want to help. The other staff member however was delightful and couldn't have been friendlier. They should make more of the on site restaurant area, it looks neglected and unused and with a bit of tlc could be a great spot for a beachside beer/cafe sua da.
Breakfast menu given with prices however listed on booking.com as included for $2.50. Upon check out was charged the full menu price, however great view & super cocktails a couple of doors down at beach club
amazing beaches silent place nature
sand flies not much entertainment places no restaurant
Can't beat Con Dao Camping for value and location. The staff were really nice, helpful and knowledgeable. Plus they serve a great omelette for breakfast.
The location, the staff, the price
The kitchen, the pier that was built across the beautiful bay (Not the hotel's fault!)
Anh, who was managing the hotel while we visited, was incredible. He was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Upon arrival, he made sure we were well acquainted with the island, recommending restaurants, hikes, and the overnight trip to see the turtles. His ability to speak English fluently was very impressive. While we were visiting, I unfortunately cut open my foot badly on a dock. Anh went with us to the hospital, translated for us with the medical staff, and made sure I was well taken care of back at the hotel. He went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home at Con Dao Camping. Best of all, we felt like we had made a new friend :) We hope he comes to visit someday in San Francisco!
The location and views.
The staff were quite patronising which wasn't helpful, and only one of them spoke good enough english to help us.
Close to the beach, friendly staff, for travelling on a budget it's decent
Bad aircondition, broken door handle, leaking sink (they fixed it though), close to the pier
Basic but clean rooms, good breakfast, incredible helpful staff, right in the beach with bath hot water, moped rental service. Best stay of our travels.
It's a no frills accommodation, bathrooms are in a lean to. Well kept and clean but something to consider.
Very helpful & thoughtful staff!
Our first night at con Dao camping we were not able to sleep because there was a rat in our room that keptus up all night. When we approached the staff, they could've cared less. We waited for 2 hours to get our room switched, but in the end paid for our 3 days in full and left because we couldn't stand to stay there another night. I have never had to leave a hotel because of health reasons, and I hope I never will again! Definitely the worst place I have ever stayed!
Friendliness of the staff. Near by the beach. Lovely accommodation and so cheap! Very peaceful area away from the expensive resort, so people are so honest! Very quiet area of the town with lovely real and genuine locals!
Sand fly! Bikes need to be serviced for rental.
The location is sublime. Just like a picture postcard. Warm seas, sandy beaches and palm trees. Excellent clean little rooms. Great housekeeping.
One member of staff wasn't too bothered by guests. We did check in on their siesta time (11am and 2pm) when you get there you'll realise why they chill at these times. Still, one staff member was not too helpful.
