An absolutely clean , decent hotel away from the hustle and bustle of hcmc yet within walking distance of the Park , restaurants , bars and the backpacker area with access to Travel Agencies selling trips within Vietnam and Indo China . One of the check-in staff was rather unfriendly .

Homey rooms. Clean. Good price. Locations is too far from main areas, you need to take a taxi as walking and crossing streets is very hectic. I chose this hotel mainly for the advertised fitness center but it was in a huge state of disrepair. Half of the equipment worked half of it was broken, its like nobody took care of the equpiment since it was purchased 20 years ago. Breakfast buffet wasnt very good, if you get there past 8 am the food is cold due to sitting out for a long time. Laundry services are astronomically priced, we got it done at a near by laundry place for 1/10th the price of the hotel.

Fantastic boutique hotel at a great price. Rooms were beautiful with fantastic use of natural wood and tile. Our junior suite felt like home. One of our best hotel experiences in Asia.

Have stayed at the Empress before and I like the style of this smaller hotel. Although its got comfortable rooms (with great air conditioning and decent bathrooms) it has more of the Vietnamese feel to it, with its bamboo blinds and sliding wooden shutters, which is becoming rarer in Saigon in its rush to modernism, to build large, expensive hotels and to capture the tourist dollar. I also like the hotel's location, where you can see far more Vietnamese people than tourists in the nearby streets. It feels safe at night and you can walk to almost anywhere in the city in a half hour or so; certainly to the major tourist "must sees". I can't see the point of staying at one of the major Western-style hotels, where you could be anywhere in the world, and missing out on a large part of the Vietnamese experience. The only thing I'd change about the Empress Hotel is its buffet breakfast. Its ok if you are able to turn up early, but if not the available food is a bit meagre. Its more about the staff replenishing the dishes; for example, at 9 am there was no butter left for the (cold in a rack) toast or the remaining three pieces of bread, and all the fruit juice was gone. Its probably just a matter of asking the staff to bring more in from the kitchen. The only cereal was cornflakes. Yesterday we were down early enough to get some of the delicious fried noodles and could have had egg, little won tons, noodle soup or a few other Vietnamese dishes.

I found the staff to be very helpful at all times, the motel was old and in some areas showed. But I would stay there again.

Its a nice small hotel. The staff is very friendly and the location is perfect, just a 10 to 15 min walk from the centre. The mattress was not the most comfortable

Staff very helpful in extending our stay as we arrived a day early. Comfortable rooms and excellent value for money. Bar/restaurant closed relatively early in the evening, although there are other restaurants just along the street.
