Gia Bao Palace Hanoi    

This ws a great short stay hotel. We used the hotel between train journeys to and from sapa vietnam. It was comfortable and accommodated early arrival after train journeys. It is vlose go the old quarter Ha noi and western area of lake khiem. It is small and client focussed.

The only dislike was cold tea and coffee at breakfast but otherwise the brekky was adequate for our trip . If you want a palaciAl breakfast i suggest stay elsewhere and pay more.

Staff are very friendly, they will let you know all about the city, best things to do and see!!! Place was good in size and really clean. Is centrally located!! Again really happy with the service ;)

Maybe dinner room needs a bit more space

After a long tired trip from South to North , we finally got the Gia Bao Hotel as second home . Fresh & cold Fruit welcome drink with smiles from staff making us the most satisfied and comfortable .Room are clean and neat with smooth Air conditioner run .All their room has real window - that not many other hotels in Old Quarter have it ! We like breakfast with many choice of food and drink .Staffs are excellent . This is the best hotel in Vietnam we ever stayed

Location, staff and small size allowed very personal service.

Lift was broken down for a day and we were on the sixth flloor.

After our arrival told us the staff that we have to move to another hotel. The next day we had to move back and found a very smokey room for our family (we booked nonsmoking rooms). The rooms are very small,too. We won't come back.

Location, staff, and value are all amazing. Top notch!

The staff

The shower was filthy. Hotel has 7 floors, the lift finishes at the 5th so you have to climb the stairs for the "better" rooms. The chamber maids trolley was left in the hallway and 2 old matresses were left propped up against the wall in the hallways for our entire stay. The room windows did not fit properly so you had all the street noise. Over priced.

The hotel is in a magic location in the old quarter and within easy walking distance to just about everything from eating places to coffee shops. The staff were excellent and all spoke good English with few exceptions. They were more than helpful in every situation. The breakfast provided was adequate and covered eastern and western diets. Overall a happy experience staying at this hotel.

We were given a windowless room on the sixth floor, room 602 that had the weirdest smell to it, we asked to be moved to another room. Not sure what was causing the smell but it was terrible, and like a damp fungus type odour.

The rooms are very nice, and the staff is one of the best we had in our trip in Vietnam: they are extremely helpful, professional, and have many nice attentions. The little restaurant is also excellent.

We asked for a quiet room: there was not a sound from the street, which is good, but it was loud from inside: lift, slamming doors, neighbours, running water. One more point: with smokers in another room, our bathroom got all the cigarette smoke, which was not very nice.

Nice hotel with good facilities and very well located. Breakfast is rich and substantial and all the staff is willing to help you and make your stay really comfortable. Really pays the price of the rooms, which are not so expensive. Have to highlight the main receptionist as she was so helpful with us, booked a nice boat for Halong bay, took care of train tickets to Sapa but mainly she was all the time extremely nice and careful with us. Thank you Miss Thao. Very friendly environment in the hotel, so friendly that we took a bottle of Port Wine to make a toast with Miss Thao and the manger Mr. Li, also very nice person.

In some rooms the matress is a bit though.

The staff are great.. helpful .. trained and easy to deal with.

Needed a room change.. possibly my fault on booking.. some noise from rain in certain rooms in the service shaft..

Close to old quarter and lake.

Beds were hard, Balcony door would not, could not lock, insufficient towels in room, very poor knowledge of tourist attractions - confidently gave us information about the main tourist attraction that was absolutely wrong and resulted in us missing the event for which we came for. Breakfast very basic.

Had adjoining rooms with door between - great for family. Great location, staff were very friendly/helpful and could speak English. Great breakfast each day.

The aircon noise

Great location to discover Hanoi. Very friendly staff & helpful. Breakfast basic. We booked a 3 day junk trip to halong bay through the hotel and it was excellent. We paid to have a deluxe room, but actually thought the other rooms were nicer...

Breakfast was basic, but with so many nice places to eat and street food we just explored.

Hotel staff are very nice, and helpful -- one of the very best I have seen so far. They always made that extra effort to attend to all my needs, and as a rule, with a smile. The room, bathroom, and the hotel in general was very clean. The dining room was very small, but still the breakfast spread was pretty good, and showed some variation. The location is also nice.

The room, and everything in it -- the desk, the bathtub, free space -- were very small. It did not have any window at all. By Hanoi standard, it was not that cheap for what it offered.

We slept one night. The staff is very friendly, the location is very convenient. The room is very comfortable.
