Score from 213 reviews Excellent 8.7/10
The very noisy construction that went on our whole 5 nights. There were views of cranes, men working, construction rubble from our room and from the pool. Very poor reception. Unfriendly staff at breakfast. Go somewhere else.
Nice pool and pool staff very friendly. Good breakfast buffet.
Poor and inconsistent house keeping. Constantly having to ask for things to be replaced by house keeping. Door handles falling off, bath leaking, very poor wifi, exhaust fan in bathroom not working, personal items missing from room.
Excellent pool and good buffet breakfast
No family rooms so we had to get two rooms for our family which made it expensive
- Location is great! Right on the beach. - Swimming pool is fantastic!
- Construction noise was VERY annoying - Problems with booking. Booking went through fine on booking.com but when we showed up at the hotel for check-in our booking was not registered with their system
We liked the facilities, nice and huge pool, location, as it was close to the amazing Cua Dai Beach. Free shuttle bus to ancient town was really useful.
The rooms didn't deserve 5 stars:very old fashioned and worn furniture/bathroom. Value for money too high because of the rooms, maybe if it was lower,we wouldn't care about their look.
The staff were wonderful with special thanks to Van, who went out of her way to help me with any questions and my comfort. Golden Sands was a paradise! I highly recommend staying here so you can travel into Hoi An (free hotel bus many times a day & evening) then return to the quiet, relaxing resort. My highlight was having lunch served to me on the beach under an umbrella & on a lounger!! The photos say it all. Thank you all for a wonderful holiday, I want to return.
The rooms were good. Most of the staff were friendly. The gardens were beautiful and well kept. The room cleaners did a good job
Not enough choice of jams etc for bread. Not enough cereals. That is all I eat for breakfast so it was a disappointment for me. Orientated more for asian taste. The big hotels should have a choice for all. Some of the guests came out of the pool and came into the breakfast area with no shirt on and that was allowed. We left early and the porter didn't answer phone.
Everything about this hotel was excellent. We had a great stay there.
Building works and noise
quiet, large pool
no access to the beach, clear/white floor seems always dirty, stuff with poor english understanding
The pool and staff were friendly
The food was terrible and the rooms were average for money paid not a gold sand resort more like rock resort no beach front by the pool false marketing
Short taxi ride from Hoi An Small but private beach Friendly staff but see comment on inefficiency Nearby interesting basic fishing village in cycling distance Lots of beachside restaurants 10 minutes walk away Pool.
Hopeless administration. Messed up our room booking; booking onto shuttle bus; finding a person to hire bikes; having to pay for no- gear bikes; even ability to deliver cocktail to poolside and it was a very very weak cocktail. Absence of beach in front if hotel( washed away a couple of years ago), so walk a hundred metres north to a small private beach, which is OK. The hotel still provides images showing the beach intact, beware. Extensive construction each end of the frontage (claimed completion June 2014) means much noise and at times diesel fumes. Eventually all this might end up very nice.
The rooms are clean and spacious, comfortable bed. staff are friendly.
Spa service and place is not that nice. Not worth the money. Avoid the rooms near to the main road, very noisy.
Fantastic pool - very spacious and comfortable. Nice view of ocean (although don't expect a beach). Amazing kids pool.
Staff were poorly trained - had a connecting door into our room that was unlocked / open when we arrived. Asked the staff 4 times throughout the day and the following day to have our room secured. Problem was only rectified when we demanded to speak to manager. (we ended up moving rooms as were not happy). For an international chain of hotels, staff's English was exceptionally poor and they were not trained very well at all. Very friendly but not up to international standard. It took us over 2 hours to order lunch by the pool one day. Bikes were not complimentary. Given the location, this was pretty poor. We had stayed in lots of smaller, independent hotels throughout Vietnam and bikes were fully complimentary. Family staying in the nearby 5* Sunrise hotel had complimentary bikes.
The pool area
Staff not well trained, they do not speak English, even at the reception. Have to wait very long for food and drinks.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food and beverages were excellent with extensive breakfast menus. The rooms very very good to a high standard. We had a great time and look forward to returning.
The drinks service around the pool was slow at times.
The pool was fantastic, nice and friendly staff.
Some things like drinks and good was overpriced.
Echo with the premises. Very loud premises
Very comfortable and clean rooms Great selection for breakfast Amazing pool, lots of chairs & umbrellas
Not enough shuttles to-from Hoi An town
The staff were exceptional and the ambiance was very good. This was a great place if you wanted peace and quiet and was only a $5 cab ride from town.
The computers in the business center were old, unreliable and the internet was very spasmodic. The seats were broken and uncomfortable. The IT guy did get the internet working for us few times. The breakfast was adequate but I was disappointed in the fresh fruit selection which didn't change for entire week.
Staff where very friendly and helpful. Very big spacious room. Lovely spa.
Nice room- beachchairs - pool area really nice missing the beach area !
Too far away from things always had to take a cab as shuttle bus didn't go or come back when would have liked! No beach area off the pool!
Staff are very friendly & extremely helpfull. The hotel lay out ,design & pool is beautiful. Over all I rate it at a good 7.5
No more beach left the storm washed it away. Floor boards creaked. Excess oil used when cooking the breakfast eggs.
Rooms were spacious.
We ended up leaving after the first night as the wifi wasn't working, the pool was under renovation, the pool bar was gone, the beach was a mess from the cyclone, watersports were no longer available and it was noisy due to construction.
Rooms were large and clean and breakfast was good.
We ended up leaving after the first night because the resort is in such a mess after the cyclone. The pool no longer has a bar and is under renovation, the beach is almost gone, water sports are no longer offered and the wifi didn't work. The resort feels deserted as most of the rooms are under renovation also.
