Arriving in Hanoi after an 11,5 hours flight, I was greeted warmly and was informed that my room had been prepared in advance. The Guest Relation girl was really friendly and helpful. Room was clean and up to standards with an amazing view. - Mosquitoes - After I checked out and was waiting for my bus to HaLong Bay, a woman who looks like front office manager from the hotel was walking around, talked with the others and stared unpolitely and rude at my friend and I for more than 10 minutes. I felt like they were bad-mouthing us. It was so inconsiderate and such an awful experience that I did not expect at the last minutes. Totally disappointed with this unprofessional attitude towards guests from the one who is being called "Manager".

The view to the lake and the organization to pick me up from the airport was well coordinated It was very hard to speak in english with the staff. Also I think that Internet in the business center should be free, I paid usd 225 per night and is funny they charge usd 4 for an hour of internet. After doing the check-out I had to use Internet to google some things of Hanoi that the staff was not able to answer me and I had to pay again for the less than 5 minutes I used internet.

My partner and I loved everything about the Intercontinental - the peace and quiet, the room, the service, the priority club and the staff - were excellent. We will definitely return one day.

Stunning surrounding lakes Small rooms, far walk to rooms, Mosquitos and price, especially the food. Sofitel Plaza much better in Hanoi No wireless included, every add on completely over priced.

I really liked the Club InterContinental where it was quite, cosy and the staff was really nice and efficient. The room with view on the lake was lovely. The Saigon restaurant is really nice. The Cafe du Lac with the buffet is good value for money. No WiFi in the room but only in the lobby was not convient. The buffet in the Cafe du Lac was too much the same every dinner. My experience with Exotissimo was a real disappointment.

We had a room right on the water of west lake. We stayed one night before a morning flight home. We had dinner in the vietnamese restaurant: excellent! Staff very friendly and helpful. Location is between the city center and the airport on a quiet location on west lake. Too far from city center for sightseeing. One has to take a taxi each time one visits sights.

Fantastic gym and excellent buffet breakfast. Staff were also very friendly. Nice location on West Lake away from the frantic pace of central Hanoi! If you want to escape consider this hotel. The window in the room utilised wooden shutters so it was difficult to block out all the light.

The air in the rooms were very damp. First room they've checked me into, had a musty/moldy odor. After switching to room 431, though the smell was manageable, the air is still very damp. Sheets and paper documents felt very damp. First two night was bareable but came the last nite, I could not breath proper. Come morning, the first sight of sun rays, opened the balcony doors, to air the room. It was slightly better after that. "Help Desk" wasn't at all helpful. Reasons.. - Selective & limited currency exchange. Front desk directed and advised me to nearest ACB bank. But when arrived at ACB, was told by ACB counters that they don't exchange NTD. Got back to hotel front desk, was sent on another wild goose chase, had to reiterate incident and intend to 3 or more front desk/conceirge personnels. Nobody had a suggestion nor solution. After which I was fuming. I had to advice/suggest solution/ and request that someone assist me to exchange currency at the black market if there was one. - In room internet access queries sent me on another wild goose chase for a good hour or so in the middle of the night (around 2 or 3am in the morning). Spoke to 2 different Help Desk personnels over the phone. Was advice that they will send someone to my room to help in answering my queries but again, no solution came out of it.

We especially liked the hands-on approach by the Assistant General Manager. He managed to personalise our stay - a nice touch and was extremely helpful when we were somewhat 'stranded' due to Typhoon Vincente. We loved the layout of the pavilions and enjoyed being on water - it was such a welcoming oasis from the calamity of Hanoi City. The food was excellent. The assistance with our ongoing travel plans were very well executed by the friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. It would have been useful to have a shuttle bus service into the Old Quarter, however, the getting of taxi's wasn't a problem, and they were cheap enough.

Quiet location - bit too far outside of the main 'old quarter' of Hanoi. Booking included internet access in the room, however, we could not establish a connection with the lead due to having brought an ipad. After complaining 4 times, we were given a wireless router and still we could not establish an internet connection. Upon complaining, we weren't given any means of compensation for our loss of lack of internet, instead they staff were too keen to find out which staff we had been speaking to and 'whom was to blame'. Left feeling very disappointed indeed!

Gorgeous hotel with superb lake scenery Impeccable service and clean Not enough light in the room at night especially above the TV set area Internet speed in room was too slow for a hotel like Intercontinental Mattress quality is very average . Had back pain my whole stay. A bit away from the central city but perhaps its the charm of this hotel Room service was too pricey especially the local dish such as PHO

The restaurants and the room were beautiful - was handy having the Club Lounge as well Was very dissappointed with this being the only hotel we stayed with no wifi in the rooms, no one available to help us with our bags from Taxi to the reception. Pool needed to be cleaned with green gunge on the bottom. Was quoted $70 for the Club Lounge and attempted to be charged $160. Overall it was dissappointing service on what we had come to expect in Vietnam. Probably wouldn't go back.
