When we arrived there on the first date, we ask the staff whether we can pay by credit card because on our confirm booking they say they accept the card. However the staff inform us that they cant because the machine is broken but she offer us to go with her staff and take out some cash and pay for it which we are ok with that but after 10 mins she was back and said the machine was fine and we are able to pay by credit card. Once we check out at the hotel, we were shocked because they took us to a different hotel and used their machine plus we have to pay 3% fee for that. If the hotel do not have a credit service then booking should not provide that information as well
We were so impress by the beauty and peace of the place. It was like being in a different time. The breakfast is served in a beautiful part of the compound and it was very simple but nice. My daughters couldn't stop taking pictures of every building, the limestone mountain, the flowers... The staff was very helpful and polite. Also the places nearby were beautiful.
We did not like the fact that we found inside the room unwanted visitors (not very pleasant). Lucky that my husband was there. The rooms are in need of a lot of attention and they are not specially very clean. There was no tv or kettle to make a coffee or tea (not the end of the world but it is handy to have it). The access to the place is not very friendly...so many dogs constantly burking and running around as we were walking in or out of the place. We found it very nerve wrecking.
This hotel provides to customers a unique Vietnamese experience. You cannot compare it to any other hotel. It is at a unique place looking more like a museum than a typical hotel. You feel like you stay at a place way back in time. It has all the modern comforts (air conditioning, hot water) but in a Vietnamese traditional scenery. The personnel is very helpful. I forgot my camera there and they arranged to send it to me safe and sound at my hotel in Hanoi. They informed me about my loss before I even realized that I forgot it and without me doing anything they brought it to me the next day. I was impressed about their professionalism. Breakfast was great and out side of the room there was always hot water and coffee or tea as a compliment of the management.
I loved that the hotel is like an old temple surrounded by limestone rocks. It's a very spiritual kind of place. It's also right next to Tam Coc river if that's what you're planning to see.
First of all, the beds were rock hard and very uncomfortable. I know this is pretty standard for Vietnam, but not worth $28 a night. Also, the breakfast was not good at all and you couldn't choose what to eat or drink, they just gave you what they have. The rooms themselves weren't very nice. The fan was very loud and the bathroom smelled weird. Also, the paintings on the ceiling were clearly rushed. I think this is a great location but the rooms are not worth the money at all. I'm sure there are plenty of other hotels with much better facilities for a cheaper price.
- An amazing place with its traditional vietnamese architecture - We were the only guests during the night we spent there and the atmosphere was so mystical and dreamlike - Tam Coc is a much more interesting town to spend the night than Ninh Binh, just 5mn walk from the boat pier.
- If you consider the comfort of the room offered; the price is indecent but I hope it will help to preserve the buildings.
Very good location, sweet staff, the hotel looks like typical vietnamese houses with replicas of the ancient houses around the hotel. Very close to the Tam Coc atractions, you can rent a bike or a bicycle and see everything in one or two days.
The most fantastic setting in the middle of all the cast mountains. Staff were extremely friendly and helped us with everything we asked for. Rooms were simple and clean. Don't expect luxury in the normal sense, but go here, if you want silence, beauty and friendliness. Much much better place to live than in Ninh Binh!!
We loved the ambiance of the village setting. Staff have little English but very willing to improve service. Room are basic in comparison to modern hotel and beautiful, different from what you might expect. Need to make sure you speak to English speaking staff member, she is very willing to help. Loved Tam Coc and surroundings, nature of the village people friendly and just going about their own business. A great break from Hanoi and travelling. Make sure you give yourself a few days if you like chilling out.
Directly underneath the Tam Coc Mountains, with even it'd own little cave, the location is unbeatable. The resort itself is a collection of replica ancient buildings, so you are sleeping in a bucolic, quiet open air museum. Directly behind the resort lies the path into Tam Coc for a mindblowingly pretty stroll without the touristy boats and hawkers.
You should understand that facilities are a bit basic. The ancient houses are a bit dusty and the bathrooms functional, but nof luxury. The price is comparable to a 3 star hotel, the facilities are 1 or 2 -- but the location is a big 5. That is the trade off.
The natural and historical surroundings were stunning. The young staff were very helpful and wanted to assist as much as possible. The price for the experience is very good.
We felt that the rooms really needed a touch of TLC. A bit of information regarding the traditional buildings would be a nice touch.
The most stunning place, a collection of 18th century style vietnamese houses around a beautiful courtyard with limestone mountain backdrop, totally peaceful, my wife who is into yoga found it sublimal! it is just 5 mn walk from the boat trips of Tam Coc and restaurants. I loved the fact there is no TV in the rooms, others who need to be permanentely connected to CNN might not agree! Staff are friendly and will do anything to help you , like serving you Tea anytime (free) anywhere around this magic setting... It is the perfect place if you like simplicity in beautiful peaceful surroundings at a very reasonable price..
No one seems to know where it is. Actually easy to find, just go to the boat departures of tam Coc and it is just 200 m away
An awesome location that has no other rival. We were blown away by the scenery and the staff was great (please be advised that they don't really speak English and will hold your passports until you leave- a common practice in Vietnamese hotels). They served an awesomely simple breakfast of fried eggs, baguettes and coffe that assuaged any worries we had. This place is awesome. If you want to visit Ninh Binh, you should stay here. It may be eerie on your walks in the moonlight when you are alone at the place, but it is ridiculously beautiful (safety was never an issue).
