Muong Thanh Lang Son Hotel  

A Positive note, some staffs were friendly, some needed to have ' customer service' education. We used the restaurant for evening meal one night, food was good and cheap. The bar upstairs and downstairs were functional. The staffs spoke little English, I was able to communicate in Vietnamese as I speak the language , however, my 2 English friends were able to get by. The hotel is the only 4 stars in LAngson, to keep up with its standards, this hotel must be kept updated and the rooms must have a 'face lift'. The hotel was in walking distance to Dong KIng market, and some bars, takes 15 minutes, but taxi is on a meter and is cheap

As a four star hotel, this large hotel was a great disappointment to us all , as a group of 5 adults and 2 children age 9 and 11. The hotel does not meet the 4 stars, the decoration is tired and unattractive throughout. They still had christmas decoartions up in APril. We had paid good money for the rooms, they were expensive and we felt let down. The wall papers were stained and peeling off the bedrooms, especially when described as 'delux' when I had booked the 3 rooms. All the rooms had smell of smoke,despite requested for non smoking, it was so bad my sister and her 2 children had to move room upon arrival. Her second room was just offensive, the carpets in both rooms had stains and cigarette butts on the floor. I had to request for the rooms to be cleaned and hoovered. The facilities for this hotel was disappointed, the swimming pool was empty on the 1st day, on the second day it was filled with yellow and dark water, not safe for swimming in my opinions. This is a great building, it has lots of potentials, but the management and staff must be kept updated, educated, and guided to keep its 4stars . I do hope to visit my home town in LAngson and will stay in Moung THanh if the rooms are updated or reduce the costs of the room
