The staff was very nice and helpful. They arranged some taxis and a Halong Bay tour for us and got us a last minute room for one day we hadn't booked with them. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, good king sized bed and decent bathroom. The bathroom door didn't close properly. |

Excellent location, quiet [for Hanoi] very clean, great breakfast supplied, "luxury" rooms had internet, balcony window, lots of space and were very good value. Staff extremely helpful, manager Kelvin went out off his way to look after us and tours booked from here were as quoted and well organized. Services very good for a two star hotel. Large variation in sizes of rooms and not all have windows. |

Clean room, comfortable beds, surprised to find a nice, working and Internet connected computer in the room. The staff was really nice, especially the manager. If I had any problems, they solved them. Also, they did not push any trips on me or tried to make me use the hotel services (this can happen in other hotels). This was my 3rd visit to Ha Noi and so far this hotel was the one I felt best at. I stayed previously at the Hanoi Palace Hotel and was harassed to buy a package trip, told the wrong distance to places in the city. No elevator, but they did carry my bags up and down. |

The location was very good - quite near to the lake. The rooms were small but kept clean and our room was quiet and not disturbed by the Hanoi traffic. The rooms in the middle (numbers 2 on every floor) would be fine for solo travellers but were too small for us. Our room was very small (barely big enough for 2 rucksacks and us!!) which meant it didn't feel that comfortable to spend much time in. The bathroom was very basic (no bath/ shower cubicle - just a hose which managed to soak most of the room). |

First, I think it's a good value for the money. The matresses were not very comfortable because the metal springs were a bit hard (I stayed in 2 rooms and the second was a little more comfy than the first). Other hotels use foam, which are more comfortable. The hotel manager is professional though a bit stoic. However, don't confuse his stoic demeaner with rude or disinterest. Once you engage him in conversation (especially about booking tours!) he's quite professional. The staff got progressively friendlier after I booked a tour of Haiphong and Cat Ba Island, which I would recommend. But there was no pressure to book. They always greeted guests coming down in the morning or returning from a day out. Part of my reason for choosing this hotel was I read it was gay-friendly. When I had a male over-night room guest (a well-dressed, reputable professional with a good job, not some stranger off the street) the staff was not so friendly and made a bit of a scene in enforcing an additional night charge for double occupancy. I explained I had previously talked to the manager and knew about an additional charge, but the desk clerk still had to call the manager late at night to confirm, collect my guest's ID (for security measure), but I felt some resistance and so did my guest. Consequently, my guest didn't want to return to the hotel another evening. I'm unsure if this had to do with us being gay, or this how any over-night guest is treated. |

The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble. The free internet consists of 4 computers with good speeds, breakfast has plenty of choice both western/vietnamese and the rooms are very well equipped for the price with proper showers and good a/c. Kelvin the hotel manager and his team are brilliant - they can help sort competitively priced tours, visas and anything else for guests without having to leave the hotel lobby! Highly recommended. Location is good though not in the heart of the French quarter, but only 10min walk away. |

The Manager, Kevin, and his staff were superb - they welcomed me on arrival and were very friendly and attentive throughout. Nothing was too much trouble and they were able to give directions to the locations in walking distance and clear advice on excursions. The hotel is located in the heart of Hanoi's Old Quarter and you are plunged straight into the vibrant, hectic, fascinating atmosphere of this part of the city. |

I liked the helpful manner of the manager and his staff. Do to our flight being delayed more than 2 hours, we realied we wouldn't arrive at the Hanoi airport until about 10.30 p.m., so we phoned the hotel, and they offered to fetch us from the airport for US$14, and then stayed up late to ensure we got to our room. It was a bonus that they spoke English well. They also had a secure place for our luggage while we were away for a few days on Halong Bay. |

The staff were always extremely helpful and pleasant, providing maps and information as well as tour options. We booked our Halong Bay trip through them and it was good. Our only concern was that we think we paid well over the proprer price for our train tickets to Hue. I would suggest others check the price carefully before booking through them. |

The hotel was very clean and had a very home feel. The staff were absolutely fantastic and were able to help us arrange tours and allowed us to shower and rest between tours, even though we weren't staying the night. Free internet and breakfast were really fantastic and staff are more than willing to help with any requests. They were super friendly. |

We really enjoyed our stay at Hanoi Phoenix. The manager, Kelvin is outstanding. A word of caution, touts everywhere; when we arrived at the airport a guy came up to us and asked where we were booked. When we told him he took us to a taxi and it took us to another hotel. The guys from that hotel tried to take our bags in but my BF stopped them and told the driver to take us to Hanoi Phoenix. He pretended not to understand and wanted to be paid. BF had Hanoi Phoenix’s number and called them from the street. All the time the driver was shouting for $25 and the hotel guys were trying to grab our bags. BF spoke to Kelvin at Hanoi Phoenix and passed the phone to the driver. Next thing we were quickly delivered to Hanoi Phoenix only one block away. Kelvin gave the driver a spray and told us to pay $14 only |

This was probably my fourth or fifth visit to Hanoi, but the first time I stayed at the Hanoi Phoenix. I was greatly impressed with how attentive, helpful, and genuinely friendly the staff were towards all the guests. On my first night, the manager even took me aside to provide some advice on how to avoid running into trouble in Hanoi. That was the first time anyone had ever taken the time to show that level of concern. I had paid more to stay at other hotels previously, but I never received the same level of kind and thoughtful service. I would strongly recommend the Hanoi Phoenix to any other friends or travelers looking for the most value for their money. |
