The best place of our trip in Vietnam. The place has a very different vibe than the other cities. The main area of stay is Tam Coc which has a plenty of options of food, boat rides etc. It's a perfect place for bicycle riding, rental bikes etc.

Tam Coc is more touristy than Trang An.
Tam Coc is more touristy than Trang An. I would suggest skipping the boat tour at Tam Coc and just go for the Mua Cave tour. For Trang An, opt for their boat tour. The views are nicer. Bai Dinh Pagoda is also worth a visit.GwenSingapore - 10Scored 10

Highly recommend a trip to Trang An bird garden walk, this was beautiful and the trip to Cuc Phong National Park. Tan Coc was lively and full of cafes etc. Ninh binh isn't that vibrant just good for getting shopping from the supermarket. The boat trip at Trang An is great.Peters - 8.0Scored 8.0

Stay in/near Tam Coc. Ninh Binh is just a big city. At Tam Coc the main street is very nice with lots of bars and restaurants. The landscape is beautiful, however in the winter the ricefields are muddy.

The location is fantastic with a beautiful pool looking over the rice fields and limestone mountains in the distance. It's a very chilled out vibe which makes it a great place to relax at the end of a day of sightseeing around Ninh Binh. The hotel manager was very helpful as well, and sorted us out with Motorbikes for the duration of our stay. We also ate at the restaurant, which was really good, providing us a dinner of typical Vietnamese dishes, and local specialties.GarethAustralia

The hotel was a bit further from the busier parts of Tam Coc but only 2 minutes walk from the Bich Dong Pagoda. There were some great local restaurants nearby as well as another boat tiar although we didn't take it. The breakfast had a nice selection and was tasty. We were allowed to check in a little early and use the bicycles while we waited to depart back to Hanoi.

The breakfast was great and had Vietnamese options as well as European. The homestay has free bicycles you can borrow and is conveniently located close to the main road in Tam Coc (10 minutes walk). I can definitely recommend this place!

Owner of the hotel is one of the rarest English-speaking guys we met in Vietnam. Owner is a good businessman, and he really promotes tourism. I had decided to stay for a night and leave for Ha Long Bay next morning. But he has showed things to do in Ninh Binh and arranged a taxi for a tour. With his help we could book a bus to Ha Long Bay.
