We started to camp in the middle of the same bay on Whale Island in the 90's after hard trekking in Highlands. We have built our resort in 1997. Today, our 45 Vietnamese and French staff thinks only about your enjoying.

Horrible rooms: the roof is wood and leaves with huge gaps between sections, the windows are wooden slats that cannot be closed, the walls have 'ventialation' bricks at floor level for some reason and even the doors don't fit properly. If it's windy outside, it's windy in the room and it seems designed to allow as many bugs in as possible. In our experience, you'll need to close the mosquito net asap to stop cockroaches climbing on the bed (they'll be hanging on the net when you get back from the beach) and you'll enjoy the odd giant spider carcass falling from the ceiling (again, onto the bed), huge ants in your bags etc... I'm sure someone thinks this is a romantic design, but I'm sorry to say that the reality is it just sucks.
The staff were excellent, really friendly and helpful. The diving was great and Sonia was really helpful, informative and fun (and genuinely cares about this beautiful sea). The food was lovely - you can see the menu for the day and opt to just have certain parts if you don't want to pay the full price for 4 courses every meal. The water is warm and even shore diving has loads to see.
We loved this resort. We had a great time there and it is a paradise. I would recommend to stay at least two days as it is a nice 2-3 hours ride from Nha Trang
The Island is idyllic , pure peace.everything is charged to your room so you are cash free! The staff are so efficient you don't notice them. Sonia in the Dive school is such a lovely person and so patient and experienced. wonderful experience
After living in Vietnam 4 years we have finally find the best place. The Island is so beautiful, quiet, motorbikes and cars don't exist, fantastic set lunch and dinner and it is so good just to sit down and be served a surprise every day. Snorkelling, kayaking, sailing, relaxing. Nice personnel. We loved this place!
I loved the location which is amazing, the service is perfect and the personnel is really nice and professional. Home made food is excellent, and very diversified.
beautiful place, nice and cosy Bungalow, good beach.
It was all good. The food might not be the best, but beeing vegetarian was not an issue and they fixad us decent inexpensive meals throughout our stay.
We stayed for 4 nights at this wonderful place. So tranquil and beautiful. The huts are simple but nice and cozy just on the water. Theres some nice snorkling in the bay an old pooltable some games and thats about all there is to do besides swin and read in the sun.
The food was rather average although quite expensive (but the resort is on an isolated island, so what can you expect!). The staff seemed just as relaxed as the guest - however, this made some of them look a bit lazy, especially when they left empty cans and glasses on the tables in the bar for hours. Also, the resort area is clean, but you don't have to walk that far to find heaps of trash on the beach. With so many paople working there, they could make it a clean island rather than just a clean resort.
Nice little island with cozy and spacey bungalows. The bar area was lovely with great views and atmosphere - especially for a pre-dinner drink. Very chilled out experience!
Stunning scenery Friendly staff Excellent food If you are nereby, you have to visit this place if you like to be isolated on a small island and just relax
Some staff were not that friendly at times. Perhaps better suited to families or couples.
Beautiful location and the food was delicious and generous. Beachfront bungalows with a gorgeous view.
Food was poor and sadly fried. A shame when seemingly so close to some amazing sea food
My little family enjoyed 6 days at Whale Island Resort - and is was amazing! Great food, wonderful Beach, cosy and clean bungalows and good service all around. We absolute hope to go back someday!
Non motorised activities were very expensive esp the use of the catamaran (it was $USD65 for 2 and you can't drive it yourself. 2 nights, cost us $AUD 610.). The staff were friendly but unprofessional.
Location, location, location!! Absolutely stunning and beautiful. Manager (Hien) was very good & helpful
The language barrier was bad with the staff. The food was not good, I requested no fish or pork for my children but got prawns, They should have a snack bar or you should be able to pick of a a la carte menu. Would have stayed longer if food better.
The beach bungalows were brilliant, right on the beach, the Island was stunning, shallow water, great for young children, felt like you had escaped from the fast pace of major cities. The complex was very clean.
No hot water in my room, poor internet reception
If you expect that this is an eco-friendly resort, its vibe and location are a really excellent for that definition, the road to the island is bumpy but it's worth the journey, beautiful location on the island with lots of beautiful & interesting walks, staff are really good and friendly.
great location, good service with friendly staff
The person I was travelling with, remote location, 2 hour walk around the island, no pool (no too touristy)
Breakfast wasn't good taste
The beach is wonderful
Meal is expensive. It will be good to have a good SPA.
It is a perfect place when you need to have a break and relax. Very welcoming and friendly personnel. We were lucky it was a low season so we were almost alone on the island!!! It was fantastic! Good snorkeling but you need to go to those places by a boat. Good chief and nice cuisine. Amazing place!
activities available cleanliness of the resort food quality and variety accommodation style Staff friendliness
If you only want to hear nature and you are a light sleeper you could be distrubed by the fishing boats which start to get out to sea at 5 in the morning.
Small resort with great Vietnamese food. Well placed cottages. Snorkeling trip! the coral in front of the bar is already amazing but the snorkeling trip was pure joy!
The Fishing boats noise after 12.00 midnight!!!
The whole trip....
We thought the staff could be a bit more friendly and welcoming. A welcome drink would be good as its a long trip to get there.
We loved the peace and quiet and the beautiful bay. The food was good too.
