The fact the Tanna is such an amazing place, you could probably have stayed anywhere and still enjoyed yourself but Tanna Lodge was a great choice. Very clean and spacious rooms. Staff are friendly and helpful, and will arrange any tours you wish to do. The highlight of staying at Tanna Lodge was the very friendly and boisterous Labrador, Prince. We definitely suggest taking Prince to the beach for an evening swim.
A few of the restaurant/bar staff spoke little to no English which made it very hard to explain my fiancés dietary requirements. Wifi is unusable, even sitting next to the modem doesn't get a stable connection but that can be expected on a third world island.
Beautiful location on Tanna Island, a nice break away from civilization
Extremely slow service, super overpriced, breakfast took about 2 hours to arrive...Lack of options for activities. They really rape you on activity pricing with a smile.
Vanuatuan bungalow village feel with luxury accommodation. Our villa was right beside the beach, the sound of waves while falling asleep was special. Staff very friendly and helpful, just ask and they will do anything for you. We loved all the tours Tanna Lodge organised for us. 3 nights min needed to see everything.
Tanna lodge is a small scale friendly place, with the rooms ("villas") scattered in a garden on the sea. The owners use local staff and materials. At my request the restaurant provided me with tasty vegetarian meals. There is free wifi in the restaurant. The tours to the vulcano and to the kastom village were excellent.
The room they gave me first (#17) did not at all resemble the pictures on the website. Villa#3 was much better, although a bit dark inside.
The comfort after spending the previous night in an amazing treehouse with very basic amenities. was great to have cold beer and selection of food and luxury bed
Ocean was rough and not good for swimming but that may have just been weather while we there
The staff was absolutely wonderful and Tanna is a gorgeous place. We will be back!
A better bar with more drinks selection would be great.
The staff were beautiful - happy, gentle and so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. They helped with tours, massage requests and anything else we asked for. Ken was a master at taking us to the Volcano - he must know every inch of that bumpy road and the Island! The food was wholesome and check in/check out time was extremely generous, as was the welcoming lime juice and toast on arrival. Prince the dog is a lovely addition to a tight family feel.
The roads aren't great so be prepared for a rough ride but it's worth it. There was a grumpy Caucasian man we saw a couple of times and someone said he was the owner. He wasn't friendly (ignored everyone) and we heard him yelling at staff in the kitchen when the power failed momentarily. He was the only one that let the team down!
Warm welcome, atmosphere, swimming pool, private bungalow, dining room and food. Lobster was excellent. Hosts Hugh and Stella made us feel part of the wider family. Staff were friendly and helpful. Trip to Volcano was memorable!! Loved Tanna. It was special.
My blisters! Cheap Chinese shoes! (not the fault of this resort)
Leaving it. Rats in our room during the night along with many other bugs. Did not sleep a wink listening to them.
Rats. Food was way over priced, paying Sydney prices for very bland stuff. Fish came out completely raw, sent it back and it came out overcooked. Breakfast was served by one of the guys there that clearly felt it was beneath him and it felt like we were a burden. It is close to the airport (less than 20 mins) but around 90 mins to the volcano which is long considering the roads there. They forgot about out airport pickup, we waited for 30 mins before getting a taxi. They did pay the fare but only did because I had made a point of it when we arrived.
The view from the bungalow was fantastic, the outdoor shower was great, and you can't beat going to sleep to the sound of the ocean...
The Tanna Lodge team welcomed us with wide smiles and great hospitality for three nights on the amazing Island of Tanna. While there they helped us arrange our trip to the rumbling, erupting Mt Yasur volcano... and we enjoyed a great quad bike adventure to the 'custom village' with the local tribes. Great cultural experience. The food was excellent local fare, the pool lovely, and the villas comfy and clean. A definite must if you venture to the excitment of Tanna for a few nights!
not a great beach, but hey the volcano, poolside and the hospitality make up for that!
Friendly helpful staff, nothings a problem, great location, food ok, great lodgings, clean
non English speaking bar and wait staff (not a major issue - actually funny at times)
Quiet and laid back Friendly staff Trip to the volcano Good coffee for breakfast
Was quite expensive for what you got. Local village was a lot more than 15minutes a walk. No ceiling fan as specified. The beach wasn't really a swimming beach - rough waves with lots of sharp rocks
Firstly, Tanna Lodge is on an island where there is little tourist development. That is the charm of the experience. It's 30 minutes from the airport, thus nearer for the 1.5hr drive to the volcano. Other resorts are 2 hrs. Staff are friendly, obliging. Nice location with water outlook. Onside ring the remote limitations, good variety of local and imported menu options. Newly opened Futuna Cultural Village only minutes away is well worth a visit.
Did not dislike anything. Did not anticipate 5 star, did expect an island experience and that's what we got
The relaxed atmosphere, the friendly and obliging staff and a very amiable owner who has many interesting srories to tell. The layout of the grounds and bungalows is great. You will enjoy Tanna lodge and the Volcano tour.
