The staff was awesome. Hotel is centrally located In Apia, close to restaurants, flea markets and shopping centers.
The hotel could have been rated excellent, however the cleanliness of the hotel was very poor. Housekeeping should do more then just change the sheets and towels but do a more thorough job of wiping down counters & surfaces, shower and walls. Mopping the floors would also be great. Breakfast was also blah, it was the same exact buffet every morning...need a variety of items daily. I paid to have breakfast included in our stay, we ate breakfast twice out of our week stay because we didn't want to eat the same boring food every morning.
It was my second stay at the Tanoa, this visit was to a attend a funeral. We did not spend as much time as I would have liked in Tanoa. We would have breakfast there, then left for the village to meet with family only to return late at night. However, we did enjoyed our stay, the staff were friendly and there was a good variety for the breakfast.
Unfortunately the standard of cleaning in the rooms had dropped on my second visit. There was a few of us on our first stay, we enjoyed going out and coming back to our very clean room. It was like we were entering the room for the first time, this was not the case on my second visit.
Lovely gardens and pool setting. The bar area is nice and relaxing and great smoothies.
The quality of food was not particularly good and the service was varied depending on who you got. The rooms we were given on the first night were dark and not very clean, they seemed a bit worn. We complained and were moved to much better rooms the next day.
Location, room & facilities are very good.
Being quoted a price through Booking.com & charged $70 extra for one night.
We really enjoyed our stay. We were attending a convention so the location was perfect. We would return and stay again. The food was good.
The welcoming and courteous staff from our arrival right throughout. Nothing was a problem to them at all. I would recommend this hotel to anyone at all
Size and appearance of rooms with all the expected extras. Wonderful, friendly staff. Delicious food.
Room wasn't sound proof so could hear our neighbour carrying out his morning ablutions!
Very clean, air conditioned rooms, good location. Pool was great and on site spa for beauty treatments. Food at the restaurant was delicious and well presented.
Bed was a bit uncomfortable, had a dip on one side. There was confusion with my online booking, the staff weren't aware of what the booking actually included.
The locations perfect, very convenient to transportation, restaurants and shops.
The staff could have been a little bit more professional. I think out of all the staff, there was only one that was exceptional.
Friendly staff who accommodated my needs even though my booking agent had the wrong dates.
Rooms were spacious and clean. Service slow although lots of staff, more traning needed. Not 5 star.
Lack of towels in a regular basis. Staff nit trained in everything they need to know. Not a can do hotel.
Good comfortable rooms. Staff always friendly, approachable and willing to meet your requests. Is central to Apia making access to transport and businesses easy.
Unable to adjust the air conditioning unit temperatures. Controls were set anywhere from 16 deg C (very chilly) to 25 deg (cooler than outside at least and just comfortable). We had a nice room overlooking the rear gardens. However this was spoilt somewhat by the annoying deep base "music" coming from some night club nearby until late at night.
We were impressed at being welcome to remain poolside after our check out and then have the manager approach us offering the use of a room to shower in before catching our late night flight. For this alone I would recommend the Tanoa but generally apart from the check in and settlement issues it was a very pleasant place to stay
Not getting the type of room we booked and having to ask for what felt like a reluctant change. Being charged for breakfast that was in fact included in the rate and again having to complain at the desk. No water on check in.
Great place to start our Samoan holiday. Close to town. Kids loved the pool. Food was good. Service friendly.
The pool was in need of a little TLC - the tiles were conk b off and a number of us cut our feet on broken tiles.
The staff were a pleasure to deal with and always did their best to accommodate our requests. The breakfasts were choice!
The pool tiles by the steps are very sharp so younger members of our group kept getting cuts. The towels could be better.
Dirty bed linen , over priced, forgot to replace face cloths, door card kept failing , no remote for the air conditioner
Location excellent Great pool Clean nice rooms Good breakfast buffet Staff friendly Good value Accommodating and helpful when our flight cancelled
Not much information volunteered about local sights Very slow reception to check in and out
Food was very good
Over charged my credit card charged usd not wst
Quiet environnement , close to the city center. The personel at the bar was very nice.
Location close to town. Clean rooms in samoan standard. Nice pool and setting
Inefficient and lazy staff, noisy kitchen and staff during night, ridiculous expensive and no real value for money.
going back home to relax and as a australian born samoan, its sad because just because your samoan they treat you like a local. I pay same money as every one else so I feel you should be treated same way. it is so sad which I had to book somewhere else.
attitude of staff towards me being samoan. they run to white people with smiles but just looks past me. I had stuff taken from room which I never got any feedback.bb on where my property where.
The management and staff were nothing but outstanding. We had our twins 14th birthday celebration and they couldn't do enough. When we arrived the water pump was broken so we were shouted a free lunch in the restaurant as an apology. It was fixed no long after and all back to normal.
We planned to be at the hotel for our twins 14th birthday and had lots of other families joining us for lunch around the pool with the intention of lounging around until out flight later in the evening. We arrived the afternoon before to find that the main pool was closed for maintenance. This was more than disappointing as we had chosen this hotel specifically for the pool area. In the morning it was closed again, and we were told it wouldn't be open until 4pm that afternoon. Like I said, we had everyone there for lunch and the kids wanting to swim. They swam in the small pool but Chili (birthday girl) cut her foot quite badly on one of the broken tiles on the bottom of the pool. I think they need to time their maintenance better - and look at the upkeep of the tiling in the small pool.
Lovely setting and convenient location.
The check in was slow and bumbling, no one seemed very sure of due process. We spent a restless night with a very loud air conditioner in our room. Tanoa Tusitala's policy of charging an extra 5% for using a credit card is downright unethical. I would not stay here again because of this. A cash ATM at the front desk to encourage guests to pay cash is not cool!
Central and quiet
Room was not ready on Arrival at 1am it was not made up from previous guest and no other room was available on check in, very disappointing first impression of the hotel and Samoa the Air conditioner was leaking water inside the room and water had to be soaked up with towels to stop flooding .
