30 Quinan Road, Westridge, 7130 Somerset West, South Africa – Show map
Ken and Lauraine Pulford moved to Somerset West from East London in 2004 to retire. After both being in business for many years we needed something to keep us busy so we built the Guinea Fowl and Dolphin cottages and named our business 40 Winks Accommodation. We are centrally situated to beaches, winelands, golf courses and a short drive to Cape Town and many more day drives. It's the ideal place to base yourself while exploring the Cape Town area and it's surrounds.

What a dump. U come into the back yard. get one outside room and one inside! ''called Lions Den... where u have to go through a smelly ( of dog urine) kitchen.all old and neglected. My outside room, with a so called kitchenette, If u have to wash something in the zink.... (like glasses or what ever, u do it next to the toilet pot in the bathroom. Which is first of all very old and not clean at all, and how much of hygene is that? How disgusting! The photos I saw on the internet are not the rooms we got.The photos on the web side are misleading people. How can this place have 3 stars????Please do a check up on the back yard rooms and make sure people know what rooms they get! Even if the room my son had, is for Backpackers as the owner said.. it is a dump! We were not informed what we get and that they like nothing like the photos.Very disappointed. The cottages that are there, look from the outside like on the photos on the web side, beautiful garden. So when one books you DO NOT KNOW, which one you will get. Sad!!!

We were only there to sleep. Didn't eat or use any of the facilities as this was a business trip with us getting home well past 10 most nights and leaving by no later than 7 in the morning.

The "breakfast area" was dirty, and looked like a jumble sale with all wierd things standing around. I did not feel comfortable eating there. The room was "old", thebathroom felt dirty and there was no aircon (it was hot and uncomfortable).

Hospitality from the hosts was just excellent. You find every little thing that you normally need to use, all was just in place. I also enjoyed the peace and tranquility. The pool also helps refresh one on a very hot day. Lovely garden.

The showerhead was too low for rinsing my hair. I'm not particularly tall (1.74m) and think any men my height or taller will have a hard time. Couldn't find any rubbish bin other than the one in the bathroom? Coffee was a bit old (hard and sticking to the container).
The room I had was well-equipped and had everything I needed. Bedding maybe a little old-fashioned, but still comfy.

The hotel had a true home away from home feel. with all the amenities that you normally look for or need, as well as the right level of care and attention from the owners. very impressive
