Great hospitality, Mike waited up for us as we were very late. We had delicious homemade food and Mike and May were very helpful with maps and info on the wine lands and historical areas
So sollten Vermieter sein! Super gastfreundlich und herzlich.
Mike and May are friendly, helpful hosts. The rooms are enormous and beautifully furnished. The garden is gorgeous and the breakfasts are some of the best in South Africa. Recommended unreservedly!
Nothing. Everything perfect.
The hosts and their special sense of humour and their willingness to assist and accommodate our special requests. The cleanliness, the range and the quality of the facilities within the establishment. Just everything.
Great location in a beautiful little town, perfect for exploring the Breede River Valley. Mike & May gave us a warm, friendly welcome and were very attentive to our needs. Had a delicious dinner at Ye Olde Tavern, which is 50 meters away on the same street, and there are a few other options in walking distance. The breakfast started with some lovely fruit, nice big coffee press, and assortment of cereals all followed by a hot breakfast to order.
Great place for a family. Location is nice and central to town, but also quite.
The owner, the room, the restaurant recommendations!
1) Mike and May went out of their way to make us feel at home, we got engaged during our visit to Montagu and they prepared everything I asked to surprise my lady before I proposed. 2) superb breakfasts. Each mornings fruit dish was a work of art, a beautifully designed platter of inventiveness almost too pretty to eat. 3)comfortable bed with quality linen. 4)excellent level of cleanliness.
1)limited storage space for clothes: could have done with a dresser with drawers. 2)Could have done with a facility to listen to music, and no room clock or clock radio 3) kettle supplied with tea/coffee/milk, but would have been nice to have a biscuit or two to nibble on. 4) cold room but in fairness it was winter in Montagu and the owners did provide an additional heater when requested
Very well located.Walking distance to restaurants..A nice older style building with lovely gardens and setting.
Cooked breakfast was disappointing More like something that you would expect of a roadside cafe - it was swimming in oil. Fried eggs looked as though they had been cooked in old oil. To be fair I suspect this was probably due to the fact that the owners were away on holiday.
Quiet location with room set in a pretty, small garden full of flowers, birds and ducks.
Room was very cold when we arrived but after switching in the heating it warmed up.
Location of house easy to find. Enjoyed talking to May and Mike who had lots to tell. Their tour guide information of the area is excellent and even though we didn't have time to do many of the things they spoke of, reading about it was almost as good as doing it! We'll spend longer in Montagu next time!
A well positioned very good facilities with very helpful owners
The enormous room
very flowery decor
Unique Guesthouse right in the middle of Montagu. Perfect hosts and delicious Breakfast!
Beautiful and spacious room. Delightful gardens. Brilliant breakfasts. Our hosts were charming and helpful, with good tips on where to eat and where to visit.
Felt very welcome on arrival - lovely couple. Room was very comfortabel, and breakfast was delicious. Great tip on restaurant for dinner. Enjoyed our stay in Montague
Interesting town, very colonial but lots of little restaurants. Mike and May were super hosts, great accommodation and breakfasts, loved the garden watching the weaver birds making their nests.
Everything Very Helpful Hosts
lovely hosts and a very comfortable room, although I do think we booked a premium room. well located and accessible to restaurants
the advertising seemed to indicate a restaurant on site but perhaps we were mistaken...not a big deal because there were perfectly acceptable restaurants within walking distance.
An outstanding host - great character, brilliant local knowledge. The room was full of character and breakfast was 'to die for'. Also a great small town to visit with real good guidance of where to eat, where to sample the wine route. A real must to visit. We would go there again every time given a chance.
Only one night due to travel commitments ... could willingly have stayed two or three.
Gorgeous gardens Wonderful hosts Good location
Beautiful accommodation May and Mike are charming Excellent location
Traffic noise from Main route 62
Extremely hospitable and entertaining hosts in a lovely setting with some glorious artworks on the walls! The breakfast was superb with Mike creating montages with the fruit. We will definitely be back.
