Everybody was very welcoming, the evening meals were really excellent as were the breakfasts. Very tranquil location watching the wild birds and guinee fowl and we enjoyed the cheese factory visit with tasting afterwards. Loved feeding the calves, a stay to remember. Still Bay itself has a fantastic location and beach.
Not much, there is no TV and some of the family artifacts may seem odd to some people. Could do with a sun shade outside the room perhaps.
Loved having the place to ourselves. There are just three rooms. We had the braai for dinner which was fine for us as we didn't want to go out. Plus there was a selection of wines on offer. This place is very serene and you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere with farmland all around you and cows grazing on the grass. The decor is quaint with some quirks like old dresses hanging on the walls (which did spook us a bit) and you must be prepared for traditionally old farm house style. We wanted to stop off on the way back to Cape Town from the Garden Route and this suited us fine.
People are adorable, the place is great, nature, comfort.
We were treated to this farm house accommodation with cattles within view. The owner was very friendly, welcoming and informative. Room was clean and nicely decorated with family photos and heirlooms. Breakfast was good. I met the owner's sister early next morning and she showed me her cows who were being milked and met the new calves and even fed one with a bottle. Very friendly and accommodating host who left her guests with small jars of their own honey. Very interesting experience than if we were staying in a hotel.
Waking up to the sound of birds and cows.
A guest house unlike any other - one travel's back in time! Superior atmosphere and service; and a hostess who treats you like beloved family. Chapeau!!!
Authentic, old farmhouse and facilities
Distance from Stilbaai beach
Kessie and Liesel were lovely hosts. House and rooms were made up with love and passion. Marvellous breakfast. Loved the various cheeses. Got some honey-present which we, to our shame, unfortunately forgot to pack - our apologies Liesel .. it was very kind of you
Setting Food Milking the cows
The guest house is so cramped Could hear every move of the other quests. No proper ceiling so even a whisper travels a distance. Not a pleasant experience Could be a great place if a family of 4-6 slept over. Not very private otherwise.
We loved that it was so easy to find and a good spot when one travels the Garden Route between Cape Town & Port Elizabeth.
The isolation and wildlife around. We were made extremely welcome. The cheese making was awesome and the cheese and wine pairing session. We came away with smiles on our faces and wish the fourth generation of the Family Story ever success. If you have the evening meal make certain you have not eaten much during the day. Try the nettle chees Gordon Ramsey says it is a winner and sure is.
Isolation does mean poor wi fi connect but assistace is given to connect next door at the dairy
Everything, great venue, staff friendly, sommer lekker!
