Located in the coastal region of Paternoster Western Cape just 200 metres from the sea, Abalone House offers bright, airy rooms with a kitchenette. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. Guest rooms and apartments at Abalone House are situated around the central courtyard. Each has a separate seating area and en suite bathroom with shower. Many offer sea views. Clean room and pleasant staff. Breakfast was excellent. Very poor view of the sea. Dinner was not up to the standard I was expecting at the price charged.

We stayed for Christmas and were treated very well indeed, the staff made the special day of Christmas special to us. We felt at home. Their attentive help did not finish when we left for I forgot items of value at Abalone house and it was mailed to me, much appreciated! Friendly staff

We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, friendliness, comfort and excellent table This not a criticism but a suggestion that you advise your guests not to take a walk along the back / approach road as they could be subjected to a dog bite- Like I was- by the many uncontrolled ' brakke' that charge out when you do pass on foot.

The staff, rooms, service and appointments were perfect. Darren is a excelent chef and his food is delicious. 1. Most of the rooms don't have a sea view. 2. This is a quality establishment and there will always be those who are prepared to pay for the degree of luxury that it offers. However, as far as my pocket is concerned it is getting to be a bit too expensive.

The food and wines are overpriced. Although marketed as fine dining the quality is disappointing. The lamb curry, specially made by the General Manager as opposed to the Chef, was excellent.

It's a very classy place with several little touches that support its 5-star rating. The owner (manager?) arrived half way through our 2-day stay and the peace of the hotel was sadly shattered. He struts around clucking loudly like a mother hen. I wish he would just leave the guests and staff alone - he adds nothing. Sorry to say this but we thought Pater Noster itself is a bit of a dump. There is no centre to the village which mainly consists of lots of empty new-built second homes and endless plots for sale (which were strewn with garbage). Beautiful setting but characterless. plaace
