Andries Stockenstrom Guesthouse is located in the historic town of Graaff-Reinet, at the heart of the Camedeboo National Park. It features an awarded restaurant and a traditional house, considered a national monument. The guest house offers elegantly decorated rooms, including air conditioning, coffee and tea facilities and a safety deposit box. Some rooms face to the veranda, whilst others overlooking the swimming pool. Gordon's Restaurant belongs to the slow food movement, offering vegetables from its biological gardens located in the backyard of the house. Menus continually change, presenting seasonal food with fresh ingredients. You can also enjoy the swimming pool or relax in the veranda, after a day in the old town or visiting the natural surroundings. Architectural treasures and more than 200 national monuments are part of Graaff-Reinet, the 4th oldest town in South Africa. The Valley of Desolation and nature reserve is just 14 km away. Gordon's restaurant and cuisine is excellent, as were the options on the menu. The wine list was also top notch. The rooms and bathrooms are very nice indeed and comfortable. The staff most hospitable, friendly and very well trained in terms of their dealings with clients and the service they offer. Ian Taylor I think that the existing lounge could possibly be converted into a wine and malt pub where artisan beers and excellent wine with artisan breads could be served with a really good selection of home crafted cheeses and pates. The veranda could be incorporated to allow a street side cafe effect. This would add to an already fine establishment. Ian Taylor

Charming house in the middle of the valley of desolation. Nice garden with fresh bio vegetables Very expensive for the services and the food - ,prices told after dinner.....we had to pay quick because the owner was not in, WHY? Towel had a whole The room was too cold - no information how to warm it up No kettle in the room - we had to ask for it Dust above the cupboard No TV nor Telephone, nor bath Disapointing guesthouse

Beds comfortable with electric blankets. No TV in the room. Room opened on to street - noisy and exposed. Security gate into main hotel meant waiting for access. Over priced for time of year .

Feines kleines guesthouse mit sehr freundlichen Leuten. Zimmer sind ok, laden zum Abschalten vom Alltag ein. Lage ist sehr gut, der kleine schicke Ort kann zu Fuß erlaufen werden. besonderes Highlight: Abendessen in Gordons Restaurant. Erst scheinbar, dann aber beste Unterhaltung bei gutem Essen. Stühle vor den Zimmern, draußen vor dem Haus zum genießen der Sonne.

Bei Ankunft niemand da zum empfangen.Nach 30 minuten endlich eine Bedienstete aufgemacht.Auskunft dass unser Zimmer nicht zur Verfügung.Müssten ein teureres Zimmer nehmen.Wurde auch in Rechnung gestellt.Kein TV,kein Kühlschrank,Klimaanlage nicht funktioniert.Frühstück im offenen Vorraum des Restaurants bei kühlem Wetter.Fazit:Unser 4 Wochentrip in Südafrika war im Stockenstrom Guesthouse der teuerste und unerfreulichste Aufenthalt da Preis/Leistung nicht gestimmt hat.Leider nicht empfehlenswert.

The friendliness of everyone, and the fact that staff were empowered and proud to be running the kitchen alone. The guest lodge is very pretty and it is wonderful to arrive there after a long journey and to be warmly welcomed by staff who clearly love their jobs. I felt that the hand towels in the bathroom should have had a place to go so that the wet towels did not have to be left on the baisin. Also thought the dinner and drinks were pricier than we'd pay at a top venue in Joburg,
