Antlers Lodge  

The owner decide to upgrade us and we found this good will gesture very nice since we stayed only one night. The place is very quite and ideally located to explore the region.

we had not booked the breakfast in advance and were told that we could not have breakfast when we popped up in the main building in the morning. aslo I did not succeed to connect to the internet.

Excellent value for money; the huts are adorable and give you a real sense of privacy. Breakfast is not included in the price but we would recommend paying the additional R50 pp as the food was delicious and well presented both times we had this. In addition, the breakfast is served near the pond which provides stunning scenery as a great way to start your day. We were lucky enough that during our stay the Barnyard Theatre, which is co-located on site, was presenting a number of shows. We paid to see Nik Rabinowitz (highly recommended) who was hilarious and it was great to be able to have a couple of drinks before strolling back to our cabin.

Small point - we were provided with basic tea/coffee making facilities in the room but these were not replenished during our stay unless we requested it. On the one occasion we wanted some milk for our morning coffee, we had to wait for the reception to open at 0830 hrs. One of the downsides of being in the countryside was that the local wildlife and farm animals (included a time-confused Rooster) could be quite loud at times which may disturb your sleep in you are not used to this. For those staying in the huts, lighting on route to the huts is inadequate and disorientating after dark. I understand this may be to try and reduce attracting insects but feel that maybe guests should be provided with torches/portable lighting during their stay. We marked the location of this Lodge as "fair" - the grounds are beautiful and well kept but there are no restaurant/supermarket facilities either on site or within walking distance.

The garden is amazing. There is a pond with flowers and ducks. The view from our room was also perfect. In the morning there was a nice breakfast outside, with good food. There was a big fridge in the room and they gave us water and milk.

The room was not clean. The shower had a used soap in it and there were hairs in the sink. The bath wasn't clean. It is so sad that they didn't do more with the place. The location is amazing. The room is very big, but very cold. And there isn't any shampoo or showersoap provided. There were only 2 big towels and 1 small one. It would have been nice to have a extra one to use for your hands. When we arrived, even before we had seen the room we were asked to pay. It is not that the owners weren't friendly, but It felt like if they didn't care. I'm sorry, but this is my only negative experience in 14 days of vacation.

We enjoyed the farm environment, neatness and availability/flexibility of staff to clean our room around our schedule.

We had slight discomfort ito privacy and having to keep our curtains closed all the time otherwise people on the lawn below could easily see into our room, which makes it hard to relax completely. We thought it wouldve been nice if the honeymoon suite had a balcony, for privacy, enjoyment of the view and comfort.

We enjoyed the beautiful views.

The Barnyard music was very loud at night. The bed was not a double but three-quarters and thus uncomfortable. The drawers in the bedrooms could not all open.

Nur die Lage!

Der Weg vom Parkplatz über den Rasen zum Zimmer war voller Entenkot. Da der Weg abends nicht beleuchtet war, liess es sich nicht vermeiden, den Schmutz mit ins ZImmer zu tragen. Insgesamt machte die Anlage einen ungepflegten Eindruck.
