Score from 319 reviews Very good
The location, right in the middle of the mountains away from any noise. The houses are rustic and handmade with such good taste that you feel comfortable right from the moment you enter the gate. The breakfast is excellent and the view is just superb, a perfect escape from the busy life. Houses are very spacious and fully equipped with furniture, appliances, an outdoor barbecue and everything you might need for the perfect self catering experience. Last but not least, Rob is absolutely charming and extremely polite, we loved every minute. Lots of people complained about the access road, but its perfectly fine for any light vehicle, you just have to follow the simple directions when booking.
Nothing to report.
The hospitality, the relaxed atmosphere, very kind couple running the place
Rob and his wife are great host who welcome you with a glass of wine. We just came one night at the honeymoon cottage, and we regret not to stay more... it's a peaceful, quiet and so magical place, lost in the nature. Cottages are higly confortables and we slept so well with birds voice in the morning, we felt this place with a really high impression and will definitely go back. Breakfast area is super cute. It's really much nicer than on the pictures.
Serenity of a rural setting Freshness & clean-air of the bush Comfort & attention to detail of a Botique hotel at the price of a B&B At the doorstep of Hazyview
We had a great time, huge bed, own pool, own terrace, great kitchen.
that we only stayed one night.
Everything was top
Stayed to short
The guesthouse is located on top of a hill in Hazyview, only 20 minutes away from the closest gate to Kruger National Park. The hosts are super friendly, chatty and give great advise for activities in the area, really making sure that the experience is memorable and special. For example, did they arrange a fantastic and romantic 3-course dinner for us in one of the neighbouring restaurants where we celebrated our anniversary. But they also equipped us with maps, personal recommendations and practical advise for travelling in Kruger Park so that we could find everything easily. The rooms itself are very spacious, have a wonderful view over the hills and are perfectly equipped. The breakfast is tasty and leaves no wishes open. We would be happy to come back. On a side note: We saw in other reviews that guests complained about the dirt road to the guesthouse. There is a dirt road, but it is actually really convenient to drive, even at night and in rain. It added to the special location, good experience and was fun driving.
It was a bit hard to find, because we did not read the instructions of the hosts before we drove there. Would have liked to have a sign at the road.
We really enjoyed our stay here and received a warm welcome from the owners, who were absolutely charming. The room we had was very spacious and nicely furnished.
If you don't like dogs this probably isn't the place for you as the own a few Great Danes. Wasn't a problem for me as i'm a confirmed dog lover and they were very well behaved.
Friendliness, conversation, Out of Africa, Closeness to Golf Courses and the Kruger. Restaurants nearby, High up in the hills, quiet, An ideal starting point for the attractions like God's Window and Potholes or Pilgrim's Rest
Hard to say, What do you expect
Beautiful room, nice views, very friendly and helpful owner.
Not very easy to find
Must go an feel the beauty.. Rob was amazing host.. Say my Hello To him If you go there..
Great hosting by Rob and the dogs, peaceful setting with lovely birds. The Stone Cottage had beautiful decor and a comfy bed plus privacy and plenty of space to spread out.
Awesome view, lovely accomodation, and very spacious and well laid out apartments. Very friendly and welcoming owners. Had a great time and was a perfect base for our stay in the area. In hindsight we would have rather stayed there than inside the Kruger Park.
We were unfortunate not to have good weather which also made our pool looking less clean. As dog lovers we loved the company of the dogs so this wasn't problem for us.
Friendliness & local advice of owner/manager.
Ashbourne offers a peaceful environment and a chance to relax in the picturesque mountains whilst every need is met in the Classic beauty of the interiors. I would definitely recommend it to others and I will definitely be going back!
The place was clean and well maintained and though we spent only one night in this place but the stay was very pleasant. The owner of this place, Rob, is a very kind gentleman and very helpful. I would recommend this place to everyone.
The 2 km dirt road
A tranquil getaway hosted by wonderful people, warm and helpful. Private splash pool for those hot summer afternoons with views of the mountains and bush. Lovely breakfast.
Friendliness of owners but not dogs
Not as per advertisement. No separate "furnished dining and living room. No dishwasher" Overlooks Sabie River Valley if you could see through the trees Poor maintenance - splash pool needed repainting, bed net support broken, bourgainvilla needed pruning, garden in poor condition. Poor equipment, mismatch of glasses, cutting board unhygienically on floor, no hot water for dish washing
Views, peace and quite. Unobtrusive staff.
Nothing not to like.
This is a beautiful lodge, the rooms are stylish and very tasteful, the setting in the mountains divine, the breakfast delicious, and best of all, the service and price/quality ratio quite unbeatable. Loved it!!
Beautiful views Stunning room Delicious breakfast
The 2kms of dirt road from the main road, was quite bad and we had to drive really slowly and carefully.
Responsive and very friendly staff. Very well priced. Lovely atmosphere. Awesome huge breakfast.
The , bed, tv and dstv , couches the kichen and the interior derco
The dogs and the gravel road
We chose this as an overnight stop between the Northern Kruger and Johannesburg, and also to visit the elephant sanctuary which is very close. Our family cottage by the gate was indeed perfect for a family - spacious and beautifully decorated, and with gorgeous sunset views from the terrace. The owners were away but the housesitting couple were charming and welcoming. The place also felt very safe, being high on a hill out of town, and not least because of the 7 (mostly) large and entertaining dogs. Would have liked to spend longer here just relaxing.
