Hi The guys of our family attended a sport event (no woman). they loved the reception area with all the animal trophies and friendly staff. The rest was challenging!
The shower out-let is blocked/not working.... it was like having a bath in the shower. 0/10 Kitchen equipment was just "ok.". Nothing new or smart. 3/10 The matrasses are very used and does not secure a good rest. Rate 0 of 10 The dustbins were full when we arrived and was even fuller when we left....seems no service is available over week-ends? 0/10
The aircon in the cabin was not working properly.
Booking was for Chalet Park and asked for 2 units -one with double and one with twin beds but we found when we arrived we were booked into the cheaper rooms at the lodge without any double facilities or fridge. This was a problem as we had bought meat based on the fact that the rooms were advertised to have fridges. Place covered in spiderwebs and thick dust under the beds.
We slept well. The coffee table one leg was broken and the fixed it after 3 days. The fridge, toaster and kettle was fine and in working condition. The place were well cleaned every day.
On arrival we were booked in a cabin and a chalet. I asked if we all (husband and 2 Children) could stay together, which then they accommodated us in a cabin nr 20.The shower was full of mould and was disgusting we had to wear slip slops to use the shower. We all 4 stayed there and with hind sight we paid far to much for this accommodation. I am the owner of a 5 star guest house and staying in my own place with children would have cost R1300 per night 5 star. Bain's cabins is not a one star worth. I phone Bain's Lodge to complained about the amount that we paid and asked the manager to phone me which up to now I am still waiting for. The towels were clean but old and were like sandpaper. There were one old couch and two steel framed chairs in the lounge not comfortable at all.
Having made booking through booking com only to discover that I had to pay R800 rands extra without breakfast was annoying .
