Lovely large room and balcony with views over Camps Bay
the good situation very nice breakfast nice view very quiet
nothing, maybe the fact that only 2 cars can park in front of the hotel
The views, the huge bed, how close it was to the main road
There was nothing I didn't like. Small suggestions: 1) to have a jug of water downstairs 2) on beautiful mornings, to set a table outside for breakfast
I liked the location and the spacious room and bathroom. I actually liked the fact that we were left alone and that we didn't meet the owners/managers although a friendly welcome from them would have been nice. The views were just breathtaking.
There's no small fridge in the rooms, so we had to go down to the kitchen to get ice from the fridge. Would have been nice to have a small bar fridge to keep drinks cold. But also understandable that owners don't want too much drinking there.
Overall, fantastic. The hotel had brilliant views of the beach and the staff were very friendly. We found the room was very clean and spacious and was furnished/decorated to a high standard. We were both very impressed with our stay and will definitely be returning.
We found the Wifi a bit temperamental.
Location and friendly staff
Value for money Friendly staff Close to good restaurants Good views of the bay and the mountain
Some tours and taxi drivers had trouble accessing the address Wifi was often not working Stairs would create problems for some people (though not us) Pool balcony not open to guests in the evenings - could not see the sunset.
basically everything, highly rexommended. perfect if you're on holidays, but good enough if you're in business s I was
the only small thing, maybe the hoxt could warm u p the room before you arrive while in winger
Lovely sea view from room Location within walking distance of Camps Bay. First class service from staff.
Lots of stairs might be a problem for some. Average breakfast.
It is in a great location, we felt very safe and welcome, the breakfast was amazing and very close to sea and resturants
From all my travels this is really a lovely place to stay, wonderful views across the ocean and the mountains, clean, tasteful decorated, spacious (with separate spacious living room downstairs), calm & quiet, well maintained, clean pool, wonderful friendly and helpful staff (with David being onsite), laundry service, amble breakfast, good free wifi, handy location 3min walk to the beach and promenade with plenty of restaurants, super market, taxis, public transport. Camps Bay is a save, upmarket and tranquil suburb of Cape Town on the way to Hout Bay, Chapman's Peak Drive, Cape Point etc. It is very picturesque with pretty beaches and the Twelve Apostles in the background. It's ca 25min with the taxi (ca 140R to V&A Waterfront) or 40min with MyCity buses (no 106 & 107, very save and recommendable, ca 7R). Also close to Table Mountain, ca 10min with taxi/50R. I had the big honeymoon suit, top level, with a large terrace and windows overlooking the ocean and mountains, incl. a jacuzzi. The value for money is just excellent and even incl breakfast. Once inside the property, there is a longer stairs to climb. I wanted to extend my stay but was gutted as Balfour was fully booked. Next time :)
The room(number 5), location, shared facilities, value for money
The frosted glass between the bathroom and the shared hallway, it was possible to see through it, not ideal for a bathroom
The view from the honeymoon suite is amazing. Nice decor of the room and very comfortable bedding. Big bathroom with shower and bath. Nice common and pool area. The location in Camps Bay is perfect - few steps away from restaurants, bars and beaches.
No space for your own toiletries and no hanging for the towel by the sink in the bathroom. Didn't like breakfast at all - limited choice and sunny-side up eggs were uneatable. Would appreciate to have a password for wi-fi in the room.
Confortable, organized and you feel like home.
You don't have many options inside your room (like order a food for example).
I liked everything about Balfour Place - the view from my room, my room which was clean, comfortable and modern, the whole guesthouse was beautifully decorated, the staff was always ready to assist me, and breakfast was excellent. If I should return to Cape Town again, I will definitely stay there again. I highly recommend it.
No on-site parking as claimed.
Top hotel , top faciliteit en prima ligging in Camps Bay!
A welcome relaxing guesthouse with a homely ambience but with appropriate modern decor. Very close to shops & main esplanade for restaurants & bars. The bedroom was very large & so was the bed. A suitable balcony with table & chairs for 4, overlooking the pool & patio area below & welcome sea views. I would recommend Balfour Guesthouse & would happily stay here again.
the amount of stairs to carry suitcases up to the reception door & then up to the bedrooms. However there was a porter to assist. Room 3 balcony does have visible access to room next door.Perhaps a suitable screen might provide more privacy.
Nice view, good breakfast
Little snobbish; In honeymoon suite, the light in the bathroom enlights half of the apartment; one wall of the apartment has a glass front to the common floor, which is a little irritating, if you are in bed
very friendly staff
small room, less space for luggage
Wow, what a wonderful find! We were beyond happy with our choice of Balfour Place Guesthouse. I have to say what a lovely guesthouse this is. It was a pleasure to stay here. The room was large and spotlessly clean with views of both the sea and the mountains. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. All the staff were fantastic, especially the Manageress Dominique, who helped us with planning things to do. The location is excellent and you can walk at night easily into Camps bay with some really great bars and restaurants to choose from. Breakfast was also excellent. This was our first accomodation after a long flight and after only one day we both felt revived and refreshed. We chose Camps bay as our base for exploring Cape town which was so much more relaxing than staying in the centre of the city. Plus we really enjoyed a walk along the promenade/beach to the V&A Waterfront. There was also a hop on hop off bus that went into the centre of town so it was also a great base to explore Cape Town from. Will stay here again.
The staff are excellent, Portia made us feel very welcome for breakfast every morning, she is a credit to your excellent establishment
Great location on a very quiet street ending in a dead end and just 3 min walking to Camp Bay sea side hype. Beach and Table mountain views from the room balcony where one can relax. Parking always available near the door. Staff and managent always helpful and friendly. Breakfast with fresh cut fruits and all other goodies. Large living room with a Pool table, Honesty mini-bar and swimming pool at the veranda.
Small bathroom. Could have a small table in the balcony.
Fantastic place in a great location, just a two minute walk to the Camps Bay promenade and seafront. Very high quality accommodation particularly in communal areas.
By South African standards the room was a little bit smaller than we had become used to - having travelled around SA for 2 weeks. However by UK standards it was a normal sized room with a nice balcony and great view.
