> spiral staircase could be a problem for some visitors but not a problem for me
>Antony, Charle, Claude & all staff were extremely helpful & service-oriented. > loft suite was beautiful, clean, spacious, comfortable > breakfasts were excellent as were wines and snacks
Attention to detail..home from home...tea,coffee,cake and biscuits always available. So friendly and helpful.
Antony was a delight! Helpful but not too in your face. We loved the pool since the water in Cape Town is not exactly warm. Location is perfect - highly recommend!
It took over a half hour of waiting in the lobby to be checked out. The main receptionist was on the phone on and off for a very long time as they were trying to get the wifi to work (it wasn't working for our stay but they let us use the main computer for important business). It was disappointing to get going late on our last day in the city.
They even upgraded our room for free (perhaps because of our honeymoon), which was incredibly nice. The breakfast was superb.
Not enough shady areas with loungers around pool. No views and our bedroom looked directly on the street at ground level.
Breakfast was very good, a real treat. The staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us.
What a gem Blackheath Lodge is. The owners could not have been more helpful and welcoming and we loved staying here.
Nothing is too much trouble for Anthony. When we arrived I had left 2 dresses at the previous destination. Anthony fixed everything & sent a taxi to collect them. Blackheath Lodge is a wonderful boutique B&B. The quality of our bathroom was outstanding. The plugs are international style so no need to take adaptors. Finally we left a bag behind but of course Anthony was on the ball immediately calling us so we could return. Delightful place.
great room good location exceptional staff good pool smoke free great breakfast spotlessly clean nothing was too much trouble best run place in cape town
Very helpful staff in arranging restaurants, trips, advice etc. convenient, quiet location. Large balcony, huge rooms in loft room. Clean, good breakfast, delightful courtyard -a real oasis.
charming guest house in a good location - staff great and so friendly. Hire the convertible mini for the day it is a lot of fun!
Being such a boutique lodge, the staff were extremely attentive. Nothing was a problem. The overall feel of the place is one more of staying at a friends house. Rooms are gorgeous & the little homely touches are what is so endearing. Location is great- 50ZAR ($5) cab to the VA Waterfront. Would absolutely stay there again.
Room was a bit cramped.
Staff were very friendly, great facilities and snacks always available. Decor was well thought through and welcoming!
As the title suggests this wasn't our first stay at BHL, and we weren't disappointed. It's been 4 years since we were here and the staff, service and room was just as good if not better, great location in terms of the V&A plus Camps Bay, it's a fabulous boutique hotel if you like the personal touch, would definitely recommend this place!
Great boutique hotel . Great breakfast. Very tasty decor.
Room fronting street was not as private as we would have liked, but that's only one of the fifteen rooms there.
We had a short, but very nice, stay at Blackheath. Wonderful and friendly staff. Easy walk to the ocean side, and about 45 minute walk (or quick cab ride) to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, where there is a massive mall and many, many restaurants. We know that the neighborhood was so quiet because we were in room #1. It is a very nice room, with 12-foot ceilings, beautifully decorated, king bed, and with a spacious private bath. However, the street was three feet from the window. If someone was standing outside talking on a phone, it was as if they were in the room with us. Fortunately, the neighborhood is so quiet that this was not a problem.
If you are staying for more than one night, perhaps it is worthwhile to chose a room above standard double, as our standard double room was right next to either kitchen or utility room and was a bit noisy at 7 am in the morning, when people started working. The rooms upstairs must be wonderful
We spent our last three nights of our 2 week holiday in South Africa at the Blackheath lodge. We had been very lucky with all accommodations during this trip and were hoping that Blackheath lodge would be just as good. And it was - a wonderful oasis for calming down after travelling and a convenient place for exploring Cape Town. Staff members were very kind and helpful, breakfast exceptional, pool area was as nice as displayed in photos. Would love to come back again.
Excellent staff, friendly, helpful and very customer orientated. Nice relaxed atmosphere, great healthy breakfast. Going to the beach a beach bag with towels etc is provided which is a good touch. A very nice pleasant oasis to either relax in or as a great base to explore Cape Town. Would recommend.
I think standard rooms are too small and people should upgrade
personal service was excellent and if you had a complained they looked after right away
There were too few tables for everyone to have breakfast at the same time so if the tables were full there was a wait involved.
Quaint, old world guest house. Loved the courtyard with the swimming pool. Not what you expect when you walk in from the street, a surprise. Breakfast was excellent, a little slow.
Staff who care about your every need
The pool area looked just like the picture. No surprises. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Great hot breakfasts!!!!
Can't fault it.
Beautiful place, staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, room was spacious and very comfortable (we had room 6). The facilities are great, you're made to feel very welcome and relaxed. The staff recommended and booked lovely prestaurants and places to go, book the hotels mini for a day - great fun driving along the coast with roof down and the wind in your hair!!
Friendly staff Location Wi-Fi & TV
We liked everything
We liked the relaxed atmosphere which enabled guests to chat in the evening if they wanted. This provided plenty of opportunities to compare restaurants and trips. We also liked the fact that Blackheath Lodge attracts visitors from across the globe so it had an international feel to it.
I loved the quirky individual style of Balckheath Lodge. The staff made us feel so welcome from the beginning and I extened our stay as we loved it so much!
