Great location on the bend of a beautiful river, the tents were great fun and the Lion walk was truely first rate.
Apart from the grilled meat the food was very poor quality, reminded me of school dinners bland and tasteless - shame.
Atmospherics of the location.
We were horrified to discover that, unlike other game camps that we'd stayed at, the excess hotel food was thrown away whilst the staff were not fed on site.
Really nice tent, we loved the bed, the outdoor shower and the view.
The main house was not so attractive and the food was really bad, among the worst we had in South Africa. Very disappointing.
Fabulous retreat game drive and walking with lions both worth doing Food excellent Staff helpful Luxury tent with four poster bed (and electric blanket!)
Noise from other tents late at night - music playing post 10pm which is too late when people are getting up at 0530 to go on game drives etc and also for type of rural location.

We enjoyed our night at the Botlierskop Private Game Reserve. It is a beautiful place with very good service. You can definitively stay there 2 nights for sure. Nice situated lodges in the nature with a lot of animal visitors at your tent.
Amazing staff, ambiance and service.
Stunning views, luxurious accomodation, sumptious breakfast, delicious buffet diner, attentiveness of staff, magnificent game drive and horse ride... highly recommended!
Great for total relaxation and unwinding. In overall a great experience. The lux tents are fab!
The sinc in our tent was so impractical, nearly impossible washing your hands of brushing your teeth. We've already done many safari's and we didnt go there to see wild animals, thus were not interested in any of the activities offered, we just wanted to relax. So on checkout it was clear that we were not viewed as valued guest as we didnt spend that much money. After we paid they didnt even bother to say goodbuy. Nor a smile.... Also the warm water outdoor pool was way too hot! Must be great during colder months, but no pleasure when its a 28 degrees day.
Beautiful newly renovated resort
Didn't get the complete wilderness-feeling during the activities as game drive and elephant ride.
Great activities (game drives, catwalk), perfect dinner
We were treated so well by the staff, they are all amazing. Our room and tent were fantastic facilities. It was my partners birthday and the all spoiled us by been so attentive. She had and I had a wonderful experience. The Game Reserve was very well managed and all the animals were looked after very well. The food was delicious. Wise we spent more time there.
Everything was perfect
Botlierskop is a very accessible game reserve that provides a great game experience without have to go into the wilderness. Staff were great, experiences were great - nothing detracted from the enjoyment.
Botlierskop Game Reserve offers a first class lodge with fabulous food. Our luxury room in the Manor House was spacious and had a patio that offered a first-hand view of the wildlife grazing in the back. The bed was very comfortable. The dinner buffet included a large assortment of meat and fish selections and my wife and I used the opportunity to sample ostrich, springbok and crocodile cooked on the grill (in addition to the beef, pork and chicken options); very delicious. And desert was superb... : ) From a wildlife perspective, Botlierskop certainly offers a "tamer" experience. We enjoyed the half-hour elephant ride on the day of our arrival and the walk with lions on the following morning. We also fed the elephants to continue our close-up encounters with the animals. As our first "game" stop on our month-long vacation to South Africa, my wife and I fully enjoyed our stay at Botlierskop. Wildlife aside, it would make for a romantic get-away at any time of the year.
Accommodation was fabulous with lots of little extras that made it very special, the food was great and the lion encounter very special with a very good guide.
The guide assigned to us for the stay was not overly friendly whereas all the other staff were fabulous. our tent was great but would have preferred one of the cabins on the higher elevation with the views.
Staff informative and helpful. As it was our honeymoon it was a lovely touch to have a welcoming bottle of sparkling wine and a welcome card. As it was cold at night it was lovely to have the electric blanket switched on while at dinner.
We were supposed to have wonderful views of the river/mountains when in fact the tent (No 21) was hidden on all sides by trees - dark and depressing. If we had known this we would not have booked. Food mediocre.
Great accommodation and great spa. Wildlife is abundant as well
everything were excellent we really enjoyed our stay!
We loved the horseback safari and loved the whole setting and privacy of the rooms.
Would like you to offer specials that is more affordable, maybe during winter. I would love to visit soon again, but it is rather expensive for a weekend. Thanks.
The reception lodge and main dining room really sets the safari scene for what was a fantastic two day stay. Our room in the lodge was excellent and very much safari themed with a decking veranda looking out onto a plain with all sorts of animals roaming around. The activity list is comprehensive and good value. We did an early morning three hour game drive sitting high up on the back of a truck which was great, our guide was very knowledgeable and had a real passion for his subject. We also did an hour on horseback and canoeing. All the staff were fantastic and transported you around the activities and to the dining room on electric buggies. The food was fantastic and plentiful with a superb grill cooking great steaks and other game. All in all brilliant, we did have sunny weather, not sure how you would get on with the activities if the weather was not so good.
Perfect location, quiet and calm place. People working in the reserve really enjoy their job and love animals, you can feel it and it makes amazing impression. A lot of free staff such as water, fruit and drinks made our experience even more pleasant, we realyt felt welcome. Jack, our guide made our evening taking us on safari. We spent more time than planned there, but he was not in a hurry and always stoped to spot game and tell us about it. And all that is extremely cheap comparing to other reserves around Cape Town. Thank you guys.
Kris was hungry when we visited him
The friendly service was refreshing and we felt very spoilt because of the individual attention to all our needs. Nothing was too much trouble!!! The champagne that awaited us in our room was truly special. Thank You!!! The sms upon arrival to see if we were happy was also a great touch.
