Interior of generous rooms, excellent breakfast, love to details (binoculars, library, etc.)
Very comfortable. Fabulous grounds with views to park and wildlife.
Beautiful location on the river. The perfect place to relax with a drink on deck chairs by the pool gazing across the river to Kruger National Park. We loved our self catering apartment with outdoor seating as well as a wonderful, private outdoor shower. Cheryl and OJ were very friendly and gave us great advice about which roads to take when we entered Kruger. We saw rhinos, a cheetah and lots of other wildlife within the first hour. Thank you.
The fact that we only stayed one night.
We had a great stay at Bucklers Africa, nice staff, beautiful location at the river, nice view, comfortable and clean. Would definately come here again!
The location was perfect, on the Crocodile river. The Kruger park just on the opposite side of the river. It allowed us to continue with our safari whilst at the lodge!! We spent a whole day chilling out whilst on the lookout for animals. The accommodation we had was very stylish. The outdoor shower was an experience of its own!! My partner loved it! The Staff were very helpful. They gave us valuable advise on the routes to take in Kruger.
We spent a whole day sitting on loungers watching animals on the opposite river bank - just glorious! The river view from this location is quite amazing. Would love to visit again.
Noisy fridge, rickety toilet seat, dim lighting and very limited television chanel choice. It was a little chilly for the outside shower, but that was no fault of the establishment!
The location directly at the river is very nice. Beds and linen are very clean. We enjoyed the stay at Bucklers and relaxed nicely after having traveled through Kruger for a week.
Wonderful, friendly welcome by Cheryl and a stunning location with very comfortable accommodation.
Die plekkie is pragtig met vriendelike mense
Die pomp wat water uit rivier pomp steurend
top location close to crocodile bridge, perfect starting place for safaries, beautiful view into krueger, family owned
The location and staff were excellent. The staff made us feel like family ! Thank you Kert and Sonja and the rest of the staff.
The staff was friendly and helpful, the location excellent. Clean and tidy, with all the required facilities. We enjoyed our stay and for sure we'll be glad to come back. Highly recommended to anyone who wants a relaxing runaway.
Fabulous location and not overcrowded. Staff and host were friendly, willing to help. I'll can recommend Buckler's Africa to anybody
To leave. :(
The location of the lodge is perfect: direct unobstructed view on Crocodile River and Kruger Park. Breakfast was excellent and we got to observe buffalo's from our table (they provide binoculars). We also appreciated the decoration of the lodge and the outside shower. Recommended.
We got delayed 15 min on our arrival (outside check-in hours). The host who checked us in seemed annoyed about that, which wasn't very pleasant given we had a long day.
Loved the view and the friendliness.
Staff extremely friendly and accomodating.Service excellence! Modern finishes, stunning! will definitely go back there! Thank you
Awesome location, breakfast just by the crocodile river with a troop of african elephants on the other side is something we never imagined! Very helpful staff.
Room wasn't in the best condition, multiple issues with the air conditioning.
Great location with view to the game on the river.
Renovation of the room would be a good idea (we had a normal double room).
Buckler's Africa is an excellent place to stay for access to the southern Kruger at Crocodile Gate. It has an unparalleled view over the Crocodile River and the park from its front terrace. The family who own the property are friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is awesome (and can be ordered for a later time in case of early morning drive in the park). The garden is very good for birds too, if that is of interest. Overall a top experience.
My husband and I recently stayed at Buckler's for our honeymoon. Our GPS got us turned around and we spent over an hour on a dirt road & in a banana field trying to find the lodge! So, one word of advice: get directions from Cheryl beforehand and don't rely fully on GPS! Once we finally made it to Buckler's, my husband and I were extremely impressed with not only the lodge itself, but the views across the river into Kruger National Park. Cheryl, the owner, arranged a full day safari for us with Dylan (I believe he worked for a company called "My African Safaris")/ Dylan was a fantastic guide and was very knowledgeable about the animals in the park. He also had another guide, Wesley, who tagged along with us on the tour as well. We enjoyed both of them and loved that they were enthusiastic about finding animals in the park. As for food options near Buckler's: Komatipoort is a very small and sleepy town. There is a grocery store, ATMs, petrol stations and a few restaurants in town. The restaurant options that we tried were: Vonya's, Ngwenya Lodge (it's a large timeshare resort located down the road and they have a large restaurant) and Tamberina's. Of those three, the only one that we would NOT recommend is Tamberina's, as the food isn't that great and their prices are definitely a lot higher than other restaurants in the area. The owners of Buckler's, Cheryl and OJ, were fantastic hosts. We enjoyed chatting with them, their son, Kurt, and playing with their little dog Lulu. Cheryl even recommended a hotel in Joburg for our return trip home, and the recommendation ended up being fabulous! They went out of their way to be helpful to us and what we appreciated the most is that they are very sincere. We hope to return to Buckler's in the future and can't imagine staying anywhere else. Rent a car and drive the 5 hours from JNB airport - it's worth the drive and the roads are all in great condition!
Staff and owners were very friendly and accommodating, the service is truly worth the 4 star rating, can't wait to go back for a longer stay. Well done keep it up
There was nothing we didn't like
The grounds were exceptional!
That breakfast was not included in the price.
The location was perfect. You felt you were in the park the view was so great. Breakfast was first class although you must order it the night before. Very laid-back atmosphere.
Our particular accommodation although spacious was rather gloomy and claustrophobic. Also for two pensioners we didn't enjoy having to climb down the stairs to use the bathroom at night! Our apartment was tucked away in the corner so other rooms seemed much lighter and airy.
Wonderful location, friendly staff, delicious breakfast.
We loved the place. The location is absolutely unique. One can sit on the veranda or cool down in the pool and with a bit of lucky get to see all the big 5 without passing the gate to Kruger. Very friendly staff, very nice lodge, very good service.
The only bad thing was that we booked just one night. One definitely should stay longer.
