Right on the V&A Waterfront, this 4-star hotel offers a walk-in wine cellar and a terrace with a bar. Rooms include LCD TVs and overlook the Alfred Basin or Table Mountain.
Score from 481 reviews Excellent
the only negative points were that the TV in my room didn't work very well and only picked up 3 stations, also the bed being on a mezzanine level was not ideal as I am 6ft tall and couldn't stand up straight in that part of the room.
the decor was very calming and neutral, the grounds were immaculate and pool was lovely. very peaceful considering how close to main road it is. easy walking distance to waterfront and other attractions.
The pool and staff were lovely - The pool area delightful and relaxing - the staff helpful and pleasant :)
Do bear in mind that this is an old/historic building where noise easily spread. Our room was very light at night due to outdoor (lodge) lamps. As our flight was late at night we had to buy 2 day passes in order to have a shower in the evening and sit on the lounge waiting for our taxi. We find that a bit overdone and too highly priced.
Very centrally located. Clean, spacious, friendly, helpful. Great breakfast. Safe area. Overall a perfect lodge.
We liked the friendly and helpful staff, and the contemporary fixtures and décor within the house. The beautiful garden was a country oasis within the city. It was a pleasure to walk safely in the locality.
We were in CT to participate in one of the biggest annual events - the Cape Town Cycle Tour - unfortunately the hotel could not accommodate an early breakfast or a later check out time. The bathroom floor was dirty and sticky and free WiFi did not work. Compared to other hotels we previously stayed at, this one was lacking in personal service and sub-standard in this regard.
Well positioned, walking distance to restaurants, situated in quite street.
I would want to get a dollar for every guest who hit his or her head on the upper side of the room, where the bed is, but than again: it also has a cozy, romantic feel to it.
The interior decoration is great! I especially loved the beautiful wooden floor. The street is really nice, up the mountain and very close to the Waterfront and with a good restaurant at the end of the street. Although for a split second I thought to see a slight disapproval or panic ;-) in the eyes of the owner(s) when we came with a lot of dusty stuff from our one and a half month trip trough the Namibian desert they immediately went in their professional mode and helped us a lot with everything and even gave us access to their garage for our very big "bakkie". Really professional and good welcoming. Friendly and you can ask everything to them, that I found also very good. You have the feeling that they are at your disposal all the time and always willing to answer your questions. And in the room was the best and most relaxing bath I have ever stayed in.
Lovely environment; great people; nice relaxing place
Good location to walk to V &A plus restaurants and cafés.
The Staff were first class, they could not do enough for us. Very relaxing place. We will Stay here again on our next visit to Cape Town. Robert & Barbara. Portugal.
Nothing at all cannot find fault with anything at all.
Everything. Daniel, Alexandra and all the staff are incredibly professional and have established a perfect relationship with clients.
Music from the lounge was an occassional nuisance in our room and the bedroom is quite light for sleeping, but neither was a big problem.
Perfect location, lovely and helpful staff and all-round a great trip. The bed was also really comfortable and the breakfasts were great.
The room booked on the internet was not the room we were given. The place is rated as a 5 star, but the room, which had a loft bedroom was not that. We could not walk upright to get into the bed as roof was too low and there were no chairs to sit on in the room. Will not go there again.
The only small drawback was WiFi signal in the room we were in was very weak or not working. We had to sit in the lounge area.
I liked everything, the staff was very helpful and the attention from the owners/mangers was very personalised. The room was spacious and clean. Parking was available and free. The decoration was pleasing and breakfast on the pool/garden terrace was very nice.
Bathroom was in-suite not en-suite - all one room, perhaps OK for bath but having the toilet in the bedroom isn't quite what I want. "View" was a 3m brick wall on one side and across a small courtyard directly opposite the (open) kitchen window on other side. Internet connection very slow and also breaks down regularly every day according to staff
Very friendly staff Central but quiet location European plug adapter in room
Staff very helpful and friendly . Room is very nice
Great staff and facilities. Early check in when we arrived before they were expecting us and use of facilities after we checked out as our flight was at 9pm. Daniel and Alexandra were very attentive hosts.
Beds too short with 1.8 m length.
Nice building, very clean, excellent and knowledgeable owners, only 12 min. walking distance to the Waterfront, quiet area.
The fact that there was not door between the room and the bathroom.
The location, the garden, the staff and breakfast.
Noice could be better controlled. Nothing to ruin a stay, but it could make people to wake up earlier than desired.
Cape Diem is a great place to stay at. The staff couldn't be friendlier. They paid attention to every single detail, and treated me as a very special guest. Breakfast was great and copious, rooms neat and spacious, and the overall contemporary design in the old house was made with such a good taste!
Nothing. Wonderful place to stay.
Everything! Staff were amazing - nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautiful. Very clean and spacious with everything you could possibly need. Breakfast was awesome. Such a great selection and included in the price - great bonus. Free Wi-Fi an added bonus too. Can't recommend highly enough.
We liked everything about staying there and plan to stay there again when next in cape Town. The lodge is perfectly located for walking into town. The room was very large, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The staff were also wonderful and really went out of their way to make us feel welcome and organise tours fo us. We thought it was so much nicer than staying in a hotel or apartment.
Wifi was not good and needs improvement.
Staff, accommodation and location in Cape Town were excellent. We enjoyed our stay at both the start and the end of our trip in South Africa!
-seperate beds -noisy room (next to entrance), and when it rains the waterpipe makes a lot of noise.
staff is extremely helpfull free nespresso in the room filled minibar (not free) only 1 km walk to waterfront and city centre breakfast is very good
Very friendly staff. Lovely garden and sitting on veranda for breakfast.
Limited TV access, no news programmes.
Central Location near good restaurants, pubs and waterfront. Beautiful setup, nice rooms. Good breakfast. Ideal for business or leisure.
