Very good value for money. The accommodation and food were excellent, together with direct views to the mountains make it a memorable stay.
Atmosfeer uitstaande, berg te lekker

The serenity and the good food and service
Apart from the utterly stunning view and the very comfortable room and common areas, the food was absolutely incredible. Every one of the array of buffet dishes was beautifully prepared and presented and our biggest problem was resisting the temptation to trying everything!
food was excellent and well presented
Baboons got into our room, not sure how !!!
Spell-binding views. Efficiently managed and staffed. Management attention to detail. Huge array of outdoors activities.
Nothing......although an interior smoking lounge (especially during cooler winter evenings) would have enhanced my stay.
- Location is great - Guided Hike offered by hotel - Good selection of food - A fair selection of activities to do if not out for a walk - packed lunch for those not present for lunch was a pleasant surprise
- bedrooms are good and have great view (had mountain facing room) but the room could do with a little updating, nothing serious and still a pleasant and comfortable room but feel it could do with a little fix up. - Lunch hours a little short
Spectacular View, fantastic facilities. The food is abolutely fantastic, the staff very friendly and efficient. I would recommend Champagne Castle Hotel to anybody.
The second you step out the room you are literally in the foothills of the Drakensberg. The staff are all well-trained, friendly and eager to help. They are well organised for activities in the day and cater for people of all fitness levels. The food is very well prepared but doesn't cater well for vegetarians.
My room was situated behind the staff quarters and was very noisy. Naturally the staff have to get an early start, unfortunately this involved waking me up at around 05h30. Noise from shouting continued until around 21h30. The room was a garden view and was fairly cheap, but I would have liked a head's up as to why it was so cheap (I would have gladly paid extra for a quieter room). Although in no danger of starving, they did not cater well for vegetarians compared to the Drakensberg Sun down the road which has an entire vegetarian buffet. The food seemed fairly heavily salted for my taste and my guests.
Beautiful chalet, especially the 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms which suited us as we were 3 single people.
The lighting in the kitchen is very poor.
From the drive to the hotel upto our checking out every moment was indeed to be cherished. The staff, location and food was excellent; and everyone went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The hike to sphinx was most memorable with our guide. Will definitely go back for more.
The hotel is in the mountain, with stunning views and the food taste as good as it look. Service is really good without being in your face.
This was our 7th trip to Champagne Castle, our first being almost 20 years ago for our honeymoon. We enjoy it so much we keep going back. As always, Champagne Castle met our expectations. Our rooms were comfortable, the food was delicious, and the views breathtaking. We'll be back for visit number 8.
Setting - beautiful views and surroundings. Rooms - very comfortable and well decorated Service - 5 Star service from everyone Staff - incredibly pleasant and helpful
Everything was more than perfect!!
Beautiful prepared and very tasty food, beautiful well taken care of rooms, visible presence of senior management at all times. MD personally doing the rounds during meals to enquire about everybody's stay. Friendliness and competence of all staff.
The peace and quiet, not having to worry about cooking, buying organizing meals, just being spoilt silly. The staff are the most wonderful and helpful. Always ready with a smile.
Too much food and no snow. Wasn't your fault though.
will definitely go again
All the facilities were very good, and the choice and quality of the food was excellent I would definitely recommend it.
Waitresses and waiters could have been a bit more attentive
Very large rooms and bath, great food, several lounges with fireplaces. There are guided walks every day, which are included in the price. Large and beautiful grounds with little lakes and baboons playing on the playground. Fantastic spa options. The service was very personal.
Big rooms, great facilities - we played in the games room, went horse riding, enjoyed the aviary and animal farm, went hiking in the hills. We stayed full board and enjoyed three awesome buffet meals a day. Even for me, as a vegetarian, there was always plenty of delicious food to choose from. My family are already planning our next visit to South Africa and we will be staying at Champagne Castle Hotel again for sure.
Having to go home!
Every thing. The food was awesome and the location to die for Definitely a return visit is required.
The staff at the hotel were excellent, as was the standard and variety of the meals. Our room was spotless and extremely comfortable. We had a fantastic guide that led us on a walk up into the mountains and provided a great deal of information about the surrounding area.
It was very difficult to make an appointment at the wellness centre.
Great location and wonderful cottage
This resort would deserve a restaurant with a 5-star chef, not a buffet
The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was amazing and the afternoon tea was a lovely idea! The views from the rooms were spectacular!
It was a little chilly in the rooms even with the heater. The bathrooms could do with updating as they didn't feel that clean but I think this was mostly due to being aged. Not a big problem but if they sorted it would just be that bit more amazing!
