Excellent location. Well placed for restaurants and shops. Lovely view from our sea facing room.
The restaurant was dated and in need of an upgrade. We felt this hotel was very overpriced and you pay a premium for the location. We had stayed at the 12 Apostles the previous nights for not much more money than we payed at Chapmans Peak, and at the Victoria and Albert for less! Not worth the money we payed.
Very modern bedrooms attached to the old hotel with wonderful character. Steak and calamari on the terrace is a must!
The bed was extremely comfortable and the pool area is heavenly.
The service in the restaurant could be quicker and the restaurant itself is looking shabby.
Good location. Quiet. Lovely view at breakfast from the restaurant balcony. Friendly staff.
My balcony door was stuck closed — not sure if this was accidental or intentional — so couldn't get fresh air into the room.
Hout Bay is a nice location to see the sights in the cape Region and it is great to stay in a Hotel which has a really good Restaurant. You are also on the beach and can walk to the Shops.
The bath room does not give a lot of privacy and the mountain view room exposed us to the Airconditioning System noise when on the balcony.
Great restaurant and staff. Nice location two minute walk to beach. Very modern rooms and comfortable bed. 5 star rooms, very clean. Great balcony view of Hout Bay
Nothing negative to say.
Doors slamming when guests got back to their rooms. House Keeping vacuuming after 12 pm when we wanted to snooze. Cars hooting at night to get into the parking garage
Great Sleep Great Shower Great View Great Location Great Staff Amazing Calamari
staff were lovely and really helpful. hotel is beautifully located at the foot of chapmans peak. my room was great and the views over the bay were spectacular
We enjoyed our stay here very much. Our only wish would have been that we had been able to stay longer. Without a doubt we would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay near Capetown.
Can't think of any at all!
The rooms are amazing and staff were friendly. Room service was delicious and not overpriced as one often finds in hotels.
They recently refurbished the hotel and I think they could extend that to their dining area as well. Furthermore, although there was nothing wrong with the breakfast that we did have, for those rates I would maybe suggest upgrading their breakfast offering slightly.
The food, especially the steaks and calamari, are truly excellent
The wifi reception in our room was not good. The new open-plan design of our bathroom meant a lack of privacy.
Clean, comfortable, well located, friendly staff, good parking opportunity
Breakfast could be improved
The European finishes. Comfortable bed. Excellent food Professional staff
The front entrance could have a better layout. Limited access after hours
Rooms in the new section are 5* Welcome and reception staff.
Service from staff on the deck, both evening and morning, was very slow and not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.
Fair location facing the beach
Breakfast service poor. Very indifferent staff. Was not asked if wanted another coffee or Tea.
This was my 3rd stay, this time alone. The hotel is a hide out in Hout Bay right at the scenic Chapman's Peak Drive. 30-45car minutes away from CPT airport. Very kind staff, very good restaurant, nice Humphrey Bogart style architecture, barber shops and other stores nearby in walking distance, beach across the street, there is an open air pool upstairs with great view over the bay. All Good. I will go there again.
When I checked in for Room 109, I noticed that I could unlock the locked balcony door by just shaking the doors left and front. The locker then jumped open. I notified and informed the front desk man and showed him how I could unlock the locked door even from outside. He then followed my request to get into a different room, 110. That one had working, safe lockers. It seems the beautiful pool increasingly becomes the habitat of a pair/couple of ducks, who bath in the pool and leave droppings on the rim. Families with kids come there, and hence I think the animal thing needs attention.
the view from the beach front rooms was wonderful.
We expected something different from the inside restaurant than the outside terrace but the menu was the same, very good but thought it would be differentiated.
The location and the rooms were very nice
The road in front is noisy
The room was excellent. Staff vety helpful and frendly also efficient. Reception staff excellent
Room and the view
Breakfast not the best, and didn't rate the restaurant food stuck in the 70's!
Fantastic room with all facilities clean & tidy. Great staff. Great vibe & good food.
This hotel is located away from Cape Town, maybe 1/2 hour drive from there. The hotel has a guarded in-house parking place for your car, free of charge. The hotel is located at Hout Bay's major road, the Chapmans Peak Drive, a scenic road with 32 Rd toll when you want to use it to go south along the bayshore. The beach is just across the street in walking distance. Depending what room you have, you hear and see the beach, but also the road traffic. The hotel's restaurant allows you to sit and dine outside, if you like. The cook is good! It's worth to have your dinner there even if you are not a hotel guest. The staff is helpful and friendly. The owner, an old man, frequently shows up and looks that everything is going alright. The hotel has a pool outside. AMAZING!!! For my Cape Town travels, Chapman's Peak hotel is my hotel of choice. Will go there next time.
It's hard to find any negative points. Yes, it is not a Cape town hotel, and you have to drive a lengthy road to get there. I am taking this place as a hide-out. Yes, it is right at the street, and typically local black people show up across he street trying to sell the restaurant guests their souvenirs. Unfortunately this time in March 2014, they did not do their brass music. in February 2013 there was music across the street. Good players and I personally enjoyed it, and I also buy their small souvenir stuff. Chapmans Peak Hotel has a private pool outside with fantastic view over the bay. It seems a duck couple has become attracted by the pool, but the pool cleaner, a friendly man, warrants that the ducks don't settle down near the pool. This time the road was closed on sunday because of the Argus Cycle Tour, a 35,000 cyclist event. We could not get out of the hotel by car from 7 am to 5 pm. But this was an international event, HUGE. Thousands of bikers went by that day. A 100 km road was closed. Some of the cyclists stayed in the hotel. For my Cape Town travels, Chapman's Peak hotel is my hotel of choice. Will go there next time.
Room, view, breakfasts
Friendly staff. Super location in attractive setting near sea at Hout Bay. Mountain facing rooms are better value and away from the main road. Free secure parking.
Restaurant extremely popular and good by local standards. Not up to the extremely high standards away from the coast at places like Franschoek vineyards.
