We enjoyed our stay here very much. Our only wish would have been that we had been able to stay longer. Without a doubt we would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay near Capetown.

Can't think of any at all!

The rooms are amazing and staff were friendly. Room service was delicious and not overpriced as one often finds in hotels.

They recently refurbished the hotel and I think they could extend that to their dining area as well. Furthermore, although there was nothing wrong with the breakfast that we did have, for those rates I would maybe suggest upgrading their breakfast offering slightly.

The food, especially the steaks and calamari, are truly excellent

The wifi reception in our room was not good. The new open-plan design of our bathroom meant a lack of privacy.

Rooms in the new section are 5* Welcome and reception staff.

Service from staff on the deck, both evening and morning, was very slow and not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.

This was my 3rd stay, this time alone. The hotel is a hide out in Hout Bay right at the scenic Chapman's Peak Drive. 30-45car minutes away from CPT airport. Very kind staff, very good restaurant, nice Humphrey Bogart style architecture, barber shops and other stores nearby in walking distance, beach across the street, there is an open air pool upstairs with great view over the bay. All Good. I will go there again.

When I checked in for Room 109, I noticed that I could unlock the locked balcony door by just shaking the doors left and front. The locker then jumped open. I notified and informed the front desk man and showed him how I could unlock the locked door even from outside. He then followed my request to get into a different room, 110. That one had working, safe lockers. It seems the beautiful pool increasingly becomes the habitat of a pair/couple of ducks, who bath in the pool and leave droppings on the rim. Families with kids come there, and hence I think the animal thing needs attention.

the view from the beach front rooms was wonderful.

We expected something different from the inside restaurant than the outside terrace but the menu was the same, very good but thought it would be differentiated.

Breakfast not the best, and didn't rate the restaurant food stuck in the 70's!

This hotel is located away from Cape Town, maybe 1/2 hour drive from there. The hotel has a guarded in-house parking place for your car, free of charge. The hotel is located at Hout Bay's major road, the Chapmans Peak Drive, a scenic road with 32 Rd toll when you want to use it to go south along the bayshore. The beach is just across the street in walking distance. Depending what room you have, you hear and see the beach, but also the road traffic. The hotel's restaurant allows you to sit and dine outside, if you like. The cook is good! It's worth to have your dinner there even if you are not a hotel guest. The staff is helpful and friendly. The owner, an old man, frequently shows up and looks that everything is going alright. The hotel has a pool outside. AMAZING!!! For my Cape Town travels, Chapman's Peak hotel is my hotel of choice. Will go there next time.

It's hard to find any negative points. Yes, it is not a Cape town hotel, and you have to drive a lengthy road to get there. I am taking this place as a hide-out. Yes, it is right at the street, and typically local black people show up across he street trying to sell the restaurant guests their souvenirs. Unfortunately this time in March 2014, they did not do their brass music. in February 2013 there was music across the street. Good players and I personally enjoyed it, and I also buy their small souvenir stuff. Chapmans Peak Hotel has a private pool outside with fantastic view over the bay. It seems a duck couple has become attracted by the pool, but the pool cleaner, a friendly man, warrants that the ducks don't settle down near the pool. This time the road was closed on sunday because of the Argus Cycle Tour, a 35,000 cyclist event. We could not get out of the hotel by car from 7 am to 5 pm. But this was an international event, HUGE. Thousands of bikers went by that day. A 100 km road was closed. Some of the cyclists stayed in the hotel. For my Cape Town travels, Chapman's Peak hotel is my hotel of choice. Will go there next time.

Friendly staff. Super location in attractive setting near sea at Hout Bay. Mountain facing rooms are better value and away from the main road. Free secure parking.

Restaurant extremely popular and good by local standards. Not up to the extremely high standards away from the coast at places like Franschoek vineyards.

Excellent location, has it all: character, views, amazing pool, brilliant new bedrooms, [we noticed they were independent wheelchair friendly... brownie points], harbour with seals and fish market and a great sassy staff who were on the ball.

Not much but the biggest challenge will be to update the fantastic public areas without losing its sense of history

The swiming pool view and the restaurant view

Do not take a montaun view room, its better to take a bay view room ( worth the price)

An excellent hotel with impressive quality standards. The owners always attentive to the needs of the guests, a multicultural, friendly and professional staff, the best I have ever found even in Europe. A special word to my compatriot Mr Rufino, the manager of the restaurant with a top service offer.

    To leave

Location, friendliness, comfort. We really liked it.

View from balcony (apparently mountain). Hard banging doors (guests do not try to stop the banging). Breakfast is poor and with a little thought could be twice as good.

Very nice staff, childfriendly, good breakfast, beautiful view from the pool, inside parking space, modern rooms, good food in the restaurant. We enjoyed being on a 10-15min drive of cape town, easy drive to the Cape of Good Hope, Boulders beach, ... but with the tranquility of Hout Bay.

Easily accessible does mean you're next to the road. We had a room in the back, so no noise. Traveling with a 3,5 yr old is ok, but with smaller kids the pool would have been an attention point.

The spacious bedroom with wonderful view. Comfortable bed and good bathroom. Quiet air con and thick windows and curtains so traffic noise not a problem. Secure parking. Lovely swimming pool.

Dining room very old fashioned. Confused service on terrace particularly at lunch.
