Fantastic setting, quiet, peaceful.....mountains and river stretch out in front of you. Food is excellent. Staff are excellent.
Would have preferred a choice of meals. They should think of putting a swimming pool in for the stinking hot summer days.
The meals are legendary and did not disappoint on our 3rd visit. Staff are awesome
Bed is average but am looking for a didn't like
The home from home feeling. The fact that it was unique and not more of the same. The fact that coffee and muffins and cake etc was available and not extra to the cost. The food was generally very very good, just a few niggles here and there with some of the courses.
the bed was not good - flatter than flat, the limited breakfast options (especially for someone who doesn't like ham / bacon), the aubergine course at dinner had a tomatoe relish/sauce which literally tasted like tinned tomoatoes ... I am still recovering although the sorbet did help
The ambience, delicious food, position, attitude of the staff, general layout all simply brilliant and really special. A great experience, so relaxing yet such delicious food in an idyllic setting made this experience extremely unique. Special thanks to Leza and Phillipa and all staff from The Simpson family from Australia.
Location is lovely. Rooms are comfortable and spacious, we stayed in the Swedish themed cottage and it was just what we were looking for. The food was divine. We are planning another stay in March and can't wait to see what the chef has in store for us. Highly recommended.
Ambience. Exceptional service. Beautiful location. The food was simply sensational. The mythology. The walks. The birds.
The food, the staff and coziness
nothing to not like
The food was outstanding as well as friendliness of the staff. Attentive but not obtrusive
After hearing about Cleopatra years ago because of its restaurant, we finally got there. Truly off the beaten track our 1 night should have been two to explore the stunning surrounds. However, to eat "that fancy" for longer would probably not be our choice. But if Celopatra's renouned chef offered 3 night midweek cooking class packages with recommended wine by the glass per course thrown in and accommo dation... That would be a must for like minded foody friends. However, please be mindful of the poor South African economy and, perhaps, like most private game lodges offer a local and international rate. I'd be first on that list with some daring cooks! - Lauren Lok , JHB
We were there on a special. We would have found normal rates beyond our value for money boundries and we do travel the world. Still.. I loved finally getting there. Lauren Lok Johannesburg
Beautiful location, super staff, gorgeous room, excellent food. If you want a gourmet getaway in magnificent surroundings this is the place to find it.
Nothing I didn't like
The fireplaces, the excellent food and the way it was explained before dinner - we knew exactly what we were eating. The little history lesson. Gardens, friendly people.
If I have to mention something: The little step in our room. Only one side of the bed had an electric blanket. The blanket on top was so deeply tucked in that there was hardly any blanket left over to cover my shoulders.
We celebrated our 18 year wedding anniversary at Cleopatra. I couldn't think of a better place. We can't wait to get back there. The staff were excellent and the food was delightful and the room was very comfortable!
Nothing. Our whole experience was excellent.
Beautiful location and wonderful accommodation. Very helpful and friendly staff. The food was outstanding. Lots of activities in close proximity.
The staff (Sitle, Clinton, Philippa and Lise) were very friendly and shared historic and personal information about the area and farmhouse. The meals were gorgeous and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. It was my birthday and upon returning to our room a bottle of sparkling wine and a chocolate cake awaited us! The nature surrounding the mountain farmhouse is something spectacular - our first introduction to the Kamberg area. We will definitely go back soon.
What is not to like in heaven?
it,s just perfect. it,s one of the best place i have never been. All at the hotel is unique. It,s a great paradise.
the end of the weekend!!!
The food is extraordinary and the staff are knowlegeable and wonderful. Max is a gem that I hope the establishment will treasure and cultivate accordingly, he had enormous talent and potential .
We only had one night !!!!
The excellent cuisine and homely farmhouse great staff
The suite we stayed could be upgraded
For a one night romantic getaway it was superb! The attention to detail was commendable: scented candles in the bedroom atet dinner, floating candles and rose petals in a warm bath, refill of your wine glass at the fire without glancing around to attract the waiter's attention. And like Clinton said: "every day is a special occasion to be alive!"
The French wine at R500 was overpriced. Husband is French and we know French wines and prices VERY well in France.
Good, ambiance and staff amazing!
The friendly, welcoming and helpful staff provided most delicious food, excellent wine and personal service in very comfortable accommodation and a glorious setting.
Having to leave.
