De Leeuwenhof Estate, Sonstraal Road, 7646 Paarl, South Africa – Show map
We are Daan and Yvonne and we run De Leeuwenhof Guesthouse in Paarl since 2004 as we came as new immigrants with our children from the Netherlands into South Africa. We have restored the Cape Dutch farm est. 1698 into its former glory and like to share the historic atmosphere and beauty, created in the past by our European ancestors. We try to create an uncomplicated atmosphere in the guesthouse, where guests and friends can feel at ease far away from home and enjoy our 4-star rated offerings.

No carpet in suite (there is underfloor heating, but we were not shown this on arrival). No bedside tables. Limited breakfast choices. Twin beds (comfortable) when we had requested double/queen/king.
Location in the winelands. Friendly staff. Owner open to feedback.

The best hosts in the Western Cape, in the perfect setting - a working Guava farm. Accommodation provided the perfect place to kick back after a long day of exploring the amazing Paarl and surrounds.

Restaurant was very good with remarkably good food. Owner was very helpful and a great character. Location good for arrival stay (50min from airport). Cottage suites had all you need inc kitchen. Location near a Township and some disturbance with dogs barking during night, otherwise would not have known.

Nothing to dislike!
We loved the layout of the rooms and parking directly outside the rooms (not far to carry the cases!) The rooms had a lovely private terrace right outside the rooms which was lovely to sit with each other after a busy day! The beds were really comfy! The breakfast was superb and served in such a lovely setting! Really friendly place to stay! My partner and I really enjoyed our stay!

Although we only stayed one night we enjoyed every moment. We were just in time to join the wine tasting at Olsen Winery. Thanks Daan and Arrie! Dinner was also very special! A great stay with a very special family.

Cannot think of a thing!
What a warm, friendly family! Tessa and Daan met us and showed us around. Tessa took it upon herself to book us a table for dinner that night on their beautiful terrace, we appreciated that as we had attended Evita's show in Darling and then, driven to Wellington , Paarl and finally, to the hotel....so, we did NOT want to get in the car again! Dinner was spectacular! And graciously looked after by Stefan, the son! The next morning we were greeted by Yvonne, the mother! We recommend this hotel HIGHLY!

Our 2 nights at De Leeuwenhof Estate was a most enjoyable and memorable experience. The peace and tranquility of this family-run estate is complimented by exceptional service provided by the family and staff. The dinners were thoroughly enjoyed around a wood-fire while engaging with international and local guests and the family. Breakfast was scenic around the poolside in the early-morning sun. A visit to the nearby Butterfly World, Lion Park and Nederburg Wine Estate, rounded up a perfect holiday. Thank you Daan, Yvonne, Stephan and Tess for a wonderful holiday.

This gorgeous family run hotel is set perfectly among the vineyards of Paarl in the wine country, just a short drive from Cape Town Airport. Daan, Yvonne, Tessa and Stephan, welcomed us as if we were family upon our arrival. Tessa showed us to our lovely rustic room opening onto the garden courtyard and introduced us to the dogs on the way. Dinner was one of the best we have had in S Africa, a lovely salmon and avo salad with a succulent steak to follow, and breakfast provided the freshest of fruits and usual fair. The morning we left Daan took us on a short tour. I would return again and again to this incredible place, made truly unique by the people who run it. A memorable experience.
