The coffee shop & banting breakfast !
Photo's on booking.com misleading. Basic facilities, but sufficient.
Breakfast staff were very unfriendly
Owner was more than helpful and a nice bloke. Room was clean wifi was on and location was fabulous. Not the flashiest place but a nice clean B and B with a good breakfast and welcoming staff. Plus bike hire and maps on site and parking a bargain.
It was a bit noisey in the morning. But over all very nice.
The owner tried to rip me off.
Location and was immediately available
No fridge in room
Very centrally located
First impressions were not good as the interiors of the rooms and bathrooms have not been done in many many years. The wardrobe door is coming off its hinges and tiles in the bathroom are cracked. When we tried to get a second set of keys, this took 2 days and the safe which was locked on arrival, was sorted out on day 3 of a 4 day stay. If the cost of the room was half of what we paid, I probably would have thought I was getting what I paid for. However having less than a month ago (in peak season early Jan) stayed in a top 4 star guest house and paid less there for the pleasure of a great stay, new fresh linens and towels, felt that this was overpriced and does not offer value for money. The saving grace for Oude Meul is that it is very central in the town. The "digital TV channels" advertised, translated to exactly 1 channel and then you had to choose between MNet or another. Not exactly what was promoted! I would not stay there again and would not recommend this establishment
The breakfast, the facilities, and was very close to everything
The staff were friendly, Sanele and Florence made us feel at home. We had a great time and enjoyed the daily breakfast served at the coffee house. We would definitely be back for another vacation. Location is in the heart of town with everything within reach.
In our room there was a leakage from the roof. We were forced to shift to another apartment passing by a balcony without any help from the staff.
Nothing I can think of
-The walls are so thin that you can hear every word spoken on the steeet below, which happens to be one of the busiest of Stellenbosch. -With the walls so thin, the coffeeshop underneath woke us up early in the morning. (Imagine someone grinding coffee right next to your pillow) -security measures are a joke. The doorknob to our room fell of. the main door was secured with a ricdiculously tiny lock. -the whole place is shabby and in dire need of a refurbishment
Great, traditional guesthouse in the very center of Stellenbosch! Breakfast served in the coffeeshop downstairs by the guesthouse owner is delicious :)
my partner didn't like going up an down.
The location is very convenient. The staff are friendly. The place is clean and comfortable.
You can hear noises from anything.
The location was great, right next to church street road, which is full of bars and cafés.
for the price I felt the property was poor, and the pictures on the site deceiving. We were there only for a night so it dint bother me too much but for a longer stay it wasn't comfortable and clean. I can't say if It is good for some on the budget cause the room was for about £ 60 a night which I don't think is cheap for South Africa.
It was a very good stay. The guest house is very centrally located with easy access to shops, restaurants and banks. Breakfast is simply out of this world.. Will definitely go back next year...
The rooms facing the street were quite noisy.. Noise from cars, from pedestrian in the night..
In the best part of central Stellenbosch, with secure parking. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean, with functional shower.
Our room was quite small and rather basic, even at the price.
Very well located. Excellent value for money.
nice breakfast and helpful staff
The reception was excellent and the place is situated in an area full of restaurants
Absence of an electric blanket
Owner was very nice and helped us with information for tourist activities
Off site parking
Location was excellent, right in the centre of the town with everything in walking distance. Staff very friendly, we had a warm welcome. Nice to have a place to sit out in the sun. Breakfast next door (included) very good. Quaint guest house with traditional furnishings.
The staff from the next door cafe were shouting underneath our balcony in the morning very early. The balcony is enclosed and doesn't overlook the street. No fridge in the room or milk with the coffee/tea tray. Bed in Room 2 quite uncomfortable. Booked two double rooms but one was a twin. (We were two couples staying) There are far better places in town if you're willing to spend another R100 a night. Very fusty smelling bathroom.
Filthy carpet; bathroom basin dirty; shower nozzle broken. Despite room to be serviced in the morning, bathroom basin still not cleaned & carpet in room still filthy.

Very accommodating owner and staff. This was an excellent guest house experience in a charming venue. Located in the town center, you are no more than a few minutes stroll from all the eateries and attractions this beautiful town has to offer. The attached bistro serves amazing eats. Highly recommend the Egg Baconaisse.... A highly enjoyable experience. Highly recommend to any travelers intending to visit Stellenbosch.
Stellenbosch is rather short on parking, no fault of the guest house. Advise walking.
