Chose it for the location in De Waterkant where I normally stay with easy access to the city by foot as well as walking distance to The Waterfront if you are used to walking. Surrounded by shopping and restaurants, don't have to go far to do or get anything. We had a large spacious room away from the street. Breakfast was very good with opportunity to sit outside on the roof top patio overlooking Table Mountain, the city and harbor - my best moments in Cape Town just enjoying that view on a sunny morning. Noisy cleaners going up and down the outdoor stairwell on the back side of the establishment and believe the access to neighbouring property also there with slamming of security gate/doors. Staff is not really involved and not making much of an effort to have conversation with guests.

Grant at the front desk was extremely helpful, beyond the call of duty. It was great to have airport transfer organised and immediate wireless access.

Loved the communication before arrival. Was fully aware of things worked. Front staff also organised transport for me which was great! The location is also ideal!!! It's in close proximity to anything you could ever need. The breakfast was not continental.....consisted only of bread, cereal and fruit. Coffee was cold. The kitchen staff (who also clean the rooms) are very unfriendly / rude!!

The hotel is located in one of the best and most picturesque areas of Cape Town. At walking distance you can find lovely cafes and restaurants, V&A and Sea point are just a stone thrown. Reception Staff are friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was rather dirty and tired in its look and decor. No air conditioning and poor ventilation forced us to keep windows opened throughout the night and every morning you were woken up by the noise of cars and motorbikes. At peak times, shower was not working with very little water coming through. Breakfast very basic and served by amazingly uninterested staff who hardly say "hello" to you. Certainly not impressed by it! On departure, the taxi which had been "booked" forgot to turn up and we nearly missed our flight home. No apology from hotel Staff.

Having access to a shared living area, kitchen and terrace was great. It was like being in an appartment. Having breakfast on the terrace was very pleasant. The staff were most helpful. Our room on the ground floor was dimly lit and there was no chair or table in the room. The tv seemed to receive only four channels.

The continental breakfast was excellent, as was the staff. The location was good and one could walk to many parts of the city. There is a very nice shopping mall down the street with stores, restaurants and a beautiful supermarket..My room was large, very nicely decorated with great storage space. The bathroom was huge with a great tub on legs and a stall shower. The location was good, but if hills and stairs aren't to one's liking, don't apply. My room didn't have a table or desk. The wifi connection was fine, but having to use your lap top on the bed was was rather uncomfortable. The bathroom sink was almost useless for short people, as the mirror was too high and there was no light near the sink.

It was clean, in a location that is safe, has many restaurants and a shopping centre at its door step, within walking distance to the CBD, V&A Waterfront and easy to board transportation to the beaches. Most of all, the reception was warm, friendly and very helpful with information, sightseeing tips, and helped to book taxis. They even went out of their way to check and book Robben island tour for me online on an earlier date when the operator said that date wasn't available. Service was always with a smile. Availability of eggs for breakfsat would have been nice but I wouldn't complain too loudly for the price I paid.

The friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff, the elegant furnishing and decor, the amenities, drawing room, dining table, balcony; the spacious accomodation and convenient location plus reasonable rates make De Waterkant an excellent place for tourists, especially mature and senior couples. We thoroughly enjoyed our sojourn and will happlily stay there given an opportunity. Absolutely no complaints. Jeremy's gesture of carrying my rather heavy suitcase up to the taxi which was beyond the call of duty was very touching and uis gratefully acknowledged. Thanks, Jeremy, and all the best.

Fabulous place: huge rooms with lots of atmosphere, friendly staff, great (and safe) location, nice views from the rooftop. I can't wait to go back. The breakfast could be a bit more interesting: maybe a few more savoury choices.
