De Waterkant Lodge  

Chose it for the location in De Waterkant where I normally stay with easy access to the city by foot as well as walking distance to The Waterfront if you are used to walking. Surrounded by shopping and restaurants, don't have to go far to do or get anything. We had a large spacious room away from the street. Breakfast was very good with opportunity to sit outside on the roof top patio overlooking Table Mountain, the city and harbor - my best moments in Cape Town just enjoying that view on a sunny morning.

Noisy cleaners going up and down the outdoor stairwell on the back side of the establishment and believe the access to neighbouring property also there with slamming of security gate/doors. Staff is not really involved and not making much of an effort to have conversation with guests.

Location

Loved the communication before arrival. Was fully aware of things worked. Front staff also organised transport for me which was great! The location is also ideal!!! It's in close proximity to anything you could ever need.

The breakfast was not continental.....consisted only of bread, cereal and fruit. Coffee was cold. The kitchen staff (who also clean the rooms) are very unfriendly / rude!!

Ashley was excellent helpful and informative!

Would have liked Mnet just to watch a wee bit of rugby and air conditioning in the room!

Easy access to shops within walking distance

Toilet smelled of urine in room 8 and the stairs are a nightmare! Breakfast did not always include cold meat. Bread was dry

Position and cleaniness of room

Room noisy ( but accept as it was the front room) Dont like the "shrouded breakfast presentation"

It was clean, in a location that is safe, has many restaurants and a shopping centre at its door step, within walking distance to the CBD, V&A Waterfront and easy to board transportation to the beaches. Most of all, the reception was warm, friendly and very helpful with information, sightseeing tips, and helped to book taxis. They even went out of their way to check and book Robben island tour for me online on an earlier date when the operator said that date wasn't available. Service was always with a smile.

Availability of eggs for breakfsat would have been nice but I wouldn't complain too loudly for the price I paid.

The friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff, the elegant furnishing and decor, the amenities, drawing room, dining table, balcony; the spacious accomodation and convenient location plus reasonable rates make De Waterkant an excellent place for tourists, especially mature and senior couples.We thoroughly enjoyed our sojourn and will happlily stay there given an opportunity.

Absolutely no complaints. Jeremy's gesture of carrying my rather heavy suitcase up to the taxi which was beyond the call of duty was very touching and uis gratefully acknowledged.Thanks, Jeremy, and all the best.

A wonderful king bed & big bathroom. The outside deck a plus. Staff was most helpful & very willing. Excellent for my money.

Liked its location, comfortable design, cleanliness..Felt it to be homely.

Didnt have any issues at all.. Perhaps the breakfast spread could have been a bit wider, offering a choice.

Fabulous place: huge rooms with lots of atmosphere, friendly staff, great (and safe) location, nice views from the rooftop. I can't wait to go back.

The breakfast could be a bit more interesting: maybe a few more savoury choices.

Basic neat accomodation.

Very noisey. Had a ground floor room. Often disturbed by other Guest in the mornings. Would not recommend anyone stay in room 44.
