Superb laid back location with great access to Addo. Lovely hosts Derek and Etta who ensured a warm welcome and stay. Etta was also our guide for a highly enjoyable tour of the elephant park. Her intimate knowledge of the area, wildlife and fauna provided us with a special experience. Breakfast by the river, warm homemade bread and jams.....heaven
The breakfast and the location on the river and the attention to detail. Excellent service from great people. I cannot think of anywhere better.
Nothing at all. You cannot find fault. Your every need is catered for. Will be returning.
Fabulous breakfast with home-made bread, home-made jam, wonderful views over the river, quirky room décor, convenience for Addo Elephant Park, super-friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you.
Location, facillities at guest house and Addo tour were all exactly what we hoped for
Excellent location on the river with great service from all at Dungbeetle River Lodge.
The rooms are very beautiful, each with their own style and decoration. Extremely clean. but most importantly, the breakfast by the river side were delicious. I could have stayed for hours enjoying the view of the river, and calmness really loved it!!
Dungbeetle River lodge is a fabulous place to stay. Etta & Derek are friendly, helpful & welcoming. They are also registered guides for the magnificent Addo Elephant Sanctuary. We loved our stay there.
There's nothing to dislike.
Very nice place directly situated on a river. Nice views. Very good breakfast. Only 10 minutes drive to the gate of Addo Elephant Park.
Lovely place to stay. Unfortunately, we could not stay longer than one night. Etta and Derek were lovely and very helpful.
Very friendly Host, beautiful room, superb breakfast
Beach Access only via nerby campground 5 km away, needs a car
Staff very friendly and accommodating. Had a lovely breakfast on the patio overlooking the river before taking the recommended drive through Pearson Park, beautiful area and lots of birds.
Excellent accommodation and breakfast. Owners were extremely helpful and friendly. Highly commended.
Good location for Addo elephant park (a few minutes drive) and the coast. Hosts cooked for us when their was a problem at the local restaurant.
Only a couple of places to eat nearby.
Be sure to book a safari ride into Addo Elephant Park. One of the entrances is less than 5 minutes away. Etta is a excellent guide. On a half day we saw as many animals as we saw in 3 days of game rides. Lovely room right on the river.
Only wish we had booked for more than one night
Very convenient to Addo Park Management and staff very friendly and helpful
Addo Elephant park is verry near and great views from the lodge deck.
Not recommended for winter season, we were the only guests.
Beautiful room, scenery. Peaceful and relaxing atmosphere Breakfast was excellent! Enjoyed the homemade bread, jams, etc. very much!!
Nothing, enjoyed our short stay.
Fantastic view Beautiful room Excellent hosts Local pub
Everything was extremely good. The owners were excellent guides when it came to the Addo Elephant Park our visit was in the pouring rain and I don't believe we missed anything or even an animal. I doubt if there are better guides or hosts. The bread at breakfast is still something to dream about.
Great location. Fabulous people. They were very helpful in guiding us around the area.
Decor is getting to be pretty dated.
Location on the Sunday River edge was wonderful, and also only 5 minutes from the southern gate of Addo Park The rooms are nicely furnished with very african touches, comfortable and light. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful - it is apity we could not stay longer to more fully enjoy the local area. The outside deck and loungers, plus a help-yourself well stocked fridge for a cool beer or two was very welcome at the end of a long day driving in the game reserve. This makes a very handy overnight stop for anyone with an early morning flight from PE airport (approx 30 mins travel)
The Lodge is absolutely fine - but evening eating options are rather limited to one local pub (Grunters), unless you want to drive much further afield. First impressions are not great, but it was walkable, good value and friendly.
We had a very great tour with the owner into addo elephant park.
Fresh cooked breakfast over looking the Sundays river, fantastic. Guided tour with Derek to Addo elephant park an amazing day out. Derek was very informative and nothing was rushed. Don't miss it!
Having to leave.
Host were very good and friendly and did a very good job
