The safe parking
They only gave us one bathing towel every morning and every evening we had to phone reception to bring us another bathing towel
TV channels not enough and sometimes tv losing signal
No breakfeast included
The beds were very comfortable , bathroom were well kept n the lighting was lovely, most of all the staff are very friendly and helpful. My family and I enjoyed our stay. Amiska Cape Town
Staff was very helpful and readily available, the service was great. The hotel was generally clean and secured.
Quality of the rooms, particularly the linen, it was worn, hard and discoloured. Lamps in one room were broken. The carpets need a change.
Rooms are quite spacious. Staff at the reception were very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast not hot. Not enough breakfast on the1st day due to low shedding. Few flies were moving around in the dining place.
Breakfast was perfect
Too much light outside our bedroom and it afected us when we are sleeping, no nectwork in our room and it was noisy in the morning.
Très bon petit déjeuner. Bonne situation.
Beaucoup de marchés.
The hotel is clean and the stuff is efficient and its located in the Durban CBD which is great very convenient for shopping plus the beach is quite close walkable distance.
The walls out side would use a new painting and air fresheners inside the toilet.
I liked the fact that it is near the city centre, everything was within walking distance. yet the hotel was very tranquil. the room was spacious and I LOVED THE BIG BATH TUB. the staff at reception was super friendly and always willing to help where they could and the breakfast was awesome|!! the dining room area felt like home. price was reasonable
.A bit too stingy with towels. I had to step on a cold floor no bath mat there were areas on the floor under the carpet I felt were crumbling, made me wonder if the building would fall in one day. I think the carpets could be cleaner especially in the reception area. one of the taps in the basin not working...room 6 on the third floor
The reception staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating; the linen and room were clean.
There was a strong sewer smell in room 33. Strong urine smell at the entrance of the lounge; just past reception. The drive-in entrance looks a bit shoddy. We ordered toasted sandiwches which arrived 1 hour later with cold fries. Room service menu has a poor selection, no milo; hot choc; milk shake for kids.
The hotel is a cool old building full of character and charm (but can sometimes seem a bit deserted). It has a bar and restaurant and is centrally located near downtown and near the harbor. The staff was friendly and we really enjoyed our stay.
The wifi did not work in our room, only in the common areas.
power failer coz of load shading
I liked the fact that the interior of the rooms and facilities in there were recently improved.
The exterior of the hotel needs much attention. IT DOES NOT APPEAL TO THE EYE. The route to the courtyard-facing rooms does not help at all due to the up and down the stairs and winding around before getting to your room. A person has to think twice before venturing outside and coming back up. The front of the hotel facing the harbour is an eyesore, as well as all the other unused rooms including the lounge areas that give one a nice impression on the photos publicised by the establishment on the website. Do something about the reception area as this reflects badly on your clients on their arrival. Also, why is it hidden away in a dark driveway? Staff working at the reception lack skills regarding the handling of Customers' requests, especially those made before arrival at the hotel. Amenities in the room like towels, tea and coffee need to be replenished regularly as well as the availability of the kettle, without the Clients asking for them in the first place.
As a last minute weekend booking, it was the cheapest option in central Durban, though not a bargain at 700 ZAR (50 €) a single room. It is a very old hotel in Georgian style from the early 20th century, all in wood panelling, stuco, antique furnishing and decoration. Not without charm if you like the ol' Britain feel of a gone-by era in Africa (Kenya still has a lot of these places). Free parking and WiFi
Old and musty... Carpeting would need a good cleaning, if not a change. Small rooms, 3 m x 3 m, bathroom 1 m x 3 m. So small that the towel holder is... above the mirror, hence right on your face when you are at the wash basin. The room was stuffy, and dark, opening on the courtyard. The (noisy) extracter did not manage to remove the damp smell. There is a big bar (closed), long twisting corridors, large reception rooms, all empty, which gives a strange feeling of run-down. Off Victoria embankment, not the safer place in town, quite a bit of marginals in the streets around.
Excellent parking space for the tenants
OMG,the place is nothing like what is shown on the internet.bedding was horrible, there were no towels and only one toilet paper. I love vintage but the place needs sOne revamping!
Breakfast was similar every day
The staff is friendly and efficient when you need assistance.
I didn't like everything about the hotel.after settling my balance I was given da keys to da room and when I get der da room was scary.ghosty.had a hole on the ceiling.i couldn't sleep there I just took my staff n leave n book ananda hotel.what a waste of money.my money that I booked for two nights had gone to waste since I didn't stay there.h
THE VIEW AND STAFF
MY AIRCON NOT WORKING WHEN I WAS PAYING FOR ALL MY TEAM
The fact that it was reasonable price wise. Staff were helpful. The place is clean.
The place generally looks old. It doesn't have a hotel feeling. Many taxi drivers don't know the place. Only 3 small towels in a room. They didn't bring new towels the following day, we had had to ask for them. Also didn't not refill the coffee. Lift is too small.
Cleanliness, quite, central town and i am a regular in durban manor.
the room I was allocated room 5 in level 3-whereas i have made special request on my reservation Two weeks prior occupation- Receptionist told me ground rooms were finished during the day BUT to my mind i secured my booking long time because i know the quality and comfort in the floor compared 3rd level room - But i had no choice and no where to go i took the room.
The hotel looks great from the outside.
The hotel is old and run down on the inside. The room was tiny and the tv was mounted so high on the wall that you couldn't watch anything! The staff play African music during the breakfast and dance and chat continuously. Are we on holiday or are they? The room was never cleaned, and we had one towel. I left the hotel to go to The Royal where you get treated like a customer. Will never be back to Durban Manor again!
