Being near Addo Elephant Park
You couldn't even get a sandwich or a snack and the wine by the glass came out of a box! You could hear guests in the room next door. There was no indoor shower and it was too cold to use the outside shower. There was no television in the room.
The facilities were excellent, the manager (Jeni) and Linda were always helpful and enthusiastic and our stay at the Lodge was very enjoyable.
As we were traveling without our own car, we were a little restricted in our movements. However Jeni was always ready to oblige, thus making our stay a very good experience.
Staff very friendly and hospitable. Comfortable relaxed environment Beds are very comfortable
No fridge in room.
Easy to travel to the Addo Park and Colechester dunes.Excellent breakfast. Nice bath and shower. Very comfy bed. Easy to find and very safe. Very helpful staff especially Jenny and also all the other lady at the desk that showed us our room and all the other staff that helped us. We will be back Corlia
Staff were fantastic
No Wi-Fi and problems with electricity
Decor, proximity to Addo, excellent fresh breakfast
At the time too quiet, poor wifi signal.
So impressed! Jeni and Dave took excellent care of me! Would totally go back if I ever get the chance!
Ideal for our visit to Addo National Park, located close to its south entrance gate. Very comfortable accommodation with all meals provided. Having all meals provided was very important because of the rural location. Very helpful staff who arranged that Derek Hewett would act as our guide for our enchanting day in Addo Park. Derek was wonderful - without him we would not have got the full benefit of the Park visit.
Location: 2 minutes to south entrance of Addo Elephant park Confortable beds and sofa African decor Outdoor shower Secure parking
Dinner was so-so
Very comfortable room , staff lovely & extremely helpful, great location for Addo
Only 5 minutes from the Elephant Park which was therefore easy to access. Very African décor. Very helpful staff. Enjoyed outside shower. Varied choices for both breakfast and dinner.
Hot water unobtainable on one occasion (but not a major problem)
Nice rooms. Very clean. Intimate resort. Cute outdoor shower. Close to Addo park. Free wifi and safe parking
No sound insulation so you hear your neighbors. Located in an area that is not attractive - doesn't feel you are close to a safari park. Breakfast canbe improved upon. Good for a night.
Very friendly and efficient manager. Fantastic location for visiting Addo Elephant Park. Just 2 minutes to south gate. Very easy drive from Port Elizabeth airport.
This was a last minute plan on New Year's eve when my husband and I decided to "make time for ourselves, away from family for a change". We were fortunate to get a booking for 2 nights at Elephants Footprint Lodge so close to Addo park which is one of our favorite game parks to visit. We arrived late at night but we were received very well. Staff was courteous and accommodating of our needs. Lodge is secure as safety was a concern for us as we reside in the US. Room was comfortable and decor favourably interesting as we usually stay at hotels. We loved the concept of "Honesty Bar" where patrons serve themselves drinks at any time without a bartender and write their consumption on a logbook. This showed class and treating paying patrons as mature adults!!
Nothing really. In fact, we found the Lodge location to be central for us to enjoy Blue Water's Bay as well within driving distance; as well as Addo Park. We definitely will return next year when we take our annual vacation to South Africa.
The accommodation was good - Comfortable and clean with interesting features. We appreciated the honesty bar and the attractive sun deck and pool.
We had a few minor issues with non-working lights and fan which were not addressed by the manager. The food - much praised by earlier visitors - did not live up to expectations and this disappointed as it was what made us choose Elephant's footprint as our first port of call. We were booked for two nights and were not told in advance that there would be no meals available on our second evening - December 29th. This establishment is some distance from the nearest village which only has a single pub serving indifferent food.
The "waterfall" showers in the rooms are nice to look at but are not convenient to use. The pool needs cleaning. One child missing on the booking, probably due to incorrect information on booking.com.
We stayed here on our honeymoon and Jeni (host) helped us make the most of our short stay on the fringes of Addo Elephant Park. Nothing was too much trouble, the facilities were good and the accommodation was lovely with great attention to detail.
The location to Addo Elephant Park. The accommodation.
Nothing but the closeness to the South entrance of Addo Elephantpark. The breakfast is ok, special wishes are catered for.
The Elephant Footprint Lodge boosts itself with a friendly and hospitable atmosphere due to its French owners, who would not only help with all kind of information but also ran a good restaurant with a well stocked winebar. Nothing of that was true, when we arrived December 31. Instead we learnt from the obviously overchallenged manager, that the restaurant was closed that night. She sent us to the only pub in the close by village, which was more than basic in terms of food and service. The lodge itself has a rather claustrophobic atmosphere: the windows to the outside open to walls, the windows to the inside to the gated patio with an artificial waterfall, which causes a stressful noise and despite the promise of the manager to shut it down at night, went off two times in the middle of the night. The cleaness of our room was rather poor. There is neither a tv set nor a fridge or a ac in the rooms and suites, though the lodge is ratet 4 stars! The area is remote and rather bleak, the nearest village has nothing to offer but a petrolstation, a supermarket and the already mentioned pub.
Room was beautiful and clean
The staff presence was basically non-existant, during the day nobody was around and at dinner our food took 2.5 hours. We were told the chef had quit that night but this was not well communicated and all we were given was a complimentary drink. The honesty bar ran low on the one drink my partner likes, we had to keep knocking on the kitchen door for service. The staff basically just ignored us. We also tried to book a game drive and were told it was full. I called the park and was able to book directly with no problem at all. I've never been somewhere that has such a lack of resources or any staff presence, if we had any questions there was literally nobody around to help us. Bizarre is the only way I can describe it.
Unable to cook dinner as cook had not turned up, so 12 people had only the local pub to eat in
- Large and beautiful room - Second shower at the back of each room - Right next to the Addo Elephant Park
The dinner was not really what we expected. And i hate boilers..
Nice rooms, close to Addo.
Very unfriendly and hectic staff. Food and service were also subpar.
The closeness to Addo national park.
Pool was dirty
