The hotel was good and comfortable with a nice courtyard garden and nice restaurant terrace
The bed and bathroom must get refurbished as everything was very dated and on the verge of tatty Bathroom was tiny and old fashioned ,the hair drier nearly falling off the wall. We have heard a new mangment company has taken over and is hopefully upgrading the standard as the rooms are definitely not 4 star ATM
Location and facilities on the complex .
1 st floor room with no view , not enough outside tables for breakfast
a perfect location with golf ,wine estates and beautiful surroundings on the spot.
The pool area and water were not fresh. Rooms needs better cleaning -wood beams and windows dirty ,AC control, shower head and lamps broken ,public areas needs better cleaning like in staircases where lamps full of dead insects
The location and grounds are very good
The bedroom was very smelly and extremely tired. The room had a thatched roof and there were insects on the carpet and silver fish in the bed. We asked for another room but were told they were full. We were due to stay 3 nights but checked out early the next morning. We were advised existed that they had an infestation a week ago? This explained the smell and insects but not the plugs hanging off the wall and in disrepair. A very annoying and frustrating visit and searching for another hotel. We went to Clouds estate in Stellenbosch which was outstanding
We were there as part of a wedding party, so was not there long enough. But enjoyed the breakfast and the rooms are lovely. Only spent one night
The wifi was erratic
Great hotel to relax and enjoy excellent facilities. Beautiful surroundings.
Lovely grounds and old historic buildings.
Staff could have been better trained on how to serve tables and deal with issues in a more professional manner. The thatch rooms were a bit dusty and had spiders.
We had a wedding at wine farm next door, so we stayed one night and my daughter was there for 2 nights. Lovely place, nice breakfast, but didn't really get to spend much time relaxing because of wedding
Everything! From my on line booking to my interactions with staff, the comfort of the room, food quality and service at the restaurant, in-room and around the pool. The business function I attended was also well put together and serviced.
Staff were great. Enjoyed the food and ambience in the Bar. Rooms clean and comfortable. Beautiful old world charm.
Very relaxing time during our visit very helpful and friendly staff
Great service: not only the front desk – extremely helpful, but also the whole staff across board very helpful! I really appreciated that the whole staff was helpful & friendly. All my requests were responded promptly & in a very friendly manner. Breakfast: one of the best I have experienced as compared to 4-5 star hotels in Europe, North-America & Asia. Rooms: large (again compared to European standards), convenient and in a good shape. Slept really well. Limited access to international TV channels, if you need it. Location: very peaceful vicinity with convenient access to main sights around Cape Town & Hermanus. Perfect if you play golf: a beautiful & demanding course right next to the hotel & within a reasonable drive (15min-60min) several other great courses. You, however, need a car to stay in the hotel – parking works perfectly. Price: a lot of value for your money especially if you travel during S.A. winter.
Friendly staff Nice surroundings
Thatched roofed room does allow some air movement and noise from outside. This is common feature of thatched roofs.
The grounds and the peacocks
Poor, to non existent internet in room. Room to dark.
The setting, the size of the rooms, the facilities, the hot choc and marshmellows, the scones at breakfast, the smiley and very very helpful staff!
The weather... Form 30 to 15 took some getting used to!
Our bedroom on the ground floor The bar was great with great service
The bedroom on the first floor / in the Eves - Blowing a gale through the room and you could hear outside noise - unable to sleep. How difficult it was to change rooms within the same standard to the ground floor when the hotel had very few guests.
The twin bed rooms, the view and the breakfast!
The booking was seamless, checkin was a breeze with no neef to represent credit cards and details. Staff were friendly and responsive and for someone that spends 10 nights a month in hotels this hotel has more of a homely feel to it.
The only downside to my stay was some of local folks visiting the in house pub. They were very loud and the language was unacceptable and then I got harrased to share my meal with "Mark" who has apparently fought in two intafadas and forced his opionion on me on the current middle east crisis. I think that the establishment should take a closer look into the clientele they wish to attract vs the clienetele they currently retain.
Good food and great breakfast.
Cold room. Bathroom needs facelift.
I love the setting the beautiful buildings and nature. Your dining room is an expierience of comfort and class. Staff were very professional and frindley. I just loved breakfast, being in such a beautiful breakfast room.
Bedrooms might at some stage get an upgrade but would say it is average at this stage. Will make a huge difference in the whole expierience.
Venue , the spa and also the pub
Noisy aircon unit in room 11
Staff very polite, informed, helpful and friendly, in keeping with the first class setting and decor.
Perhaps having to climb stairs. Perhaps a little more guidance on where to eat, inside or outside? and more about the locations and choices.
Good location staff very nice good breakfast small personal hotel
Could do with a bit of needed tlc I am sure the new owners gave that in hand
friendly and efficient great location excellent meals and wines
We stayed over and had a dinner for 25 friends. We needed to speak to one person about the rooms, another about the dinner venue, a third about food, a fourth about the drinks and a fifth about the deposit and confirmations.
