Surrounded by enchanting vineyards and majestic Huguenot Mountains, this small Boutique hotel is set on the outskirts of the town of Franschhoek, in the Cape Winelands.
Score from 52 reviews Excellent
In the culinary capital of the Cape, this hotel is under the towering Franschhoek Mountains with the famous Winelands a short car ride away.
Score from 84 reviews Very good
Situated along the garden route, only 2 km from Franschhoek, Lavender Farm Guest House is nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains. Guests can relax on a sun lounger, poolside, under an umbrella.
Score from 233 reviews Wonderful
Los Olivos is set in the centre of Franschhoek, the acclaimed ‘Food and Wine Capital of South Africa’. It features self-catering apartments and free private parking.
Score from 39 reviews Very good
The room was poorly maintained & drawers & cupboards dirty. Kitchen equipment sparse. Allotted parking space always occupied. Very poor value for the amount paid. Service slow in restaurant at breakfast.
Location is good.
Breakfast was shocking as was the level of service. The attention to details one would expect from such an establishment was completely lacking, given the cost. Had a second booking for November , but have canceled it.
The villa was stunning, with amazing views
The kettle didn't work
Nice big room, bathroom great!
Staff was not well trained
Beds and linen very comfortable, rooms very spacious.
There are no dressing tables with an electric socket and mirror, so for women it is very difficult to do hair and make-up. I wanted to use my own hairdryer and hair straightener, but had to plug it in somewhere else in the room with no mirror to see what I was doing.
Dirty linen, cold water, damp and moldy walls.
Toilet seat was broken Curtains wasn't hooked in all the hooks (looked unprofessional) Duvet cover couldn't close (something wrong with the clips) The food was average
L'Ermitage is an absolutely stunning place to stay, I wish we could have stayed longer.
The luxuriousness and tranquillity. The staff were friendly and the service excellent.
The aircons weren't working in the suites and the villas could do with some maintenance.
Rooms were stunning. Food was very good!!
No stock of wines Then we ordered gin and tonic. No tonic. My husband ordered cooldrink. No stock Othrwise excellent
Staff service was great Location, although a bit out of town, still close to centre of town
Requested wheelchair accessible villa - confirmed two days prior to arrival by phone. Arrived around 3:15pm to find allocated 1st floor villa - repositioned to a ground villa which had not been used for a long time. Phone did not work, floors dirty, no dressing gowns or face cloths, fridge did not work and flooded kitchen. More importantly there was no lighting immediately outside the unit which was very dark in the evening as well as no lighting of the walkway to the drive and on to the main building with the restaurant. Limited lighting for wheelchair access to the restaurant by way of steep ramp.
No DSTV decoder No salt and pepper in self-catering Breakfast took extremely long. I was done with breakfast before my partners food arrived
We like the size of the room. Also the room service despite the fact that we were the only couple there
housekeeping! torn leaves in information folder no tissues in box provided.someone had crossed out bad? comments in visitors book for all to see - should have torn out this page asked for special at breakfast the day before but nobody new about it the next morning
Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Serene and relaxing
Staff knowledge of surrounding attractions,poor.
Amazing setting and stunning room.
Reception staff very poor. Went through the motions but no personality or warmth. Room maintenance needs attention. Towel rails broken and left at the side. Curtain hooks broken so hanging off and not enough toiletries or hot water. My husband had a bath which left no water for the shower! And this was the honeymoon suite apparently.
We had a waterfront 2bedroom apartment with the Most incredible view, the apartment it self was beautiful decorated and just stunning, we will be recommending this to all friends and family! One of the nicest places we have ever stayed in. The staff are very friendly and helpful and dinner is amazing.
Nothing at all
Staff were friendly.
The curtains in the room were falling down and as a result they couldn't close so the room was filled with sunlight first thing in the morning. It was really, really, really bad. As a result I would never stay there again or recommend anyone else to stay there. The shower facility was really lovely, however, there was absolutely no water pressure at all and as a result if was impossible to have as decent shower. Furthermore I booked and paid for a KING room but the bed was two smaller beds pushed together. Are you joking? How is this a KING bed. As far as I'm concerned if the curtains dont close, the shower doesnt work and the bed is unaccaptable then, as a hotel, what are you really selling me? I felt the experience was a waste of money and would rather have been in a Protea hotel or City Lodge where at least you get a decent bed and a working shower.
I know l'Ermitage - stayed there 2 x before : excellent I also know the manager through a friend, mrs Cynthia Barnard
Applicances in bathroom broken at arrival Noise from breakfastroom early morning Light in room (chandelier) and either bathroom or kitchen went on full blow during the night Holes in bathroom rug which can cause you to trip wearing high heals No WiFi connection that worked continueously - connection broke off all the time
- The resort was empty - Rooms are very spacious and comfortable - Views are Excellent - Good value for money - Staff very willing and eager
- Staff appear new and sometimes amateurish - Lighting is electronic and hard to control - Breakfast buffet was limited in choice - Satellite channels were limited
fantastic staff. very helpful and went the extra mile..
no hot water for the first 24 hours,,, not ideal!
Its a beautiful place to stay with picturesc views
Some of the drinks in restaurant had expired
The view. The concept of villas. The parking.
This hotel may have been luxury when it was built but not now! It was shabby, tired and in dire need of maintenance and improvement - every window and door rattled in the wind (terrible nights sleep) shower floor chipped, broken and mouldy, wardrobe had previously been flooded so warped and peeling. The walls had rot crystals forming from the damp. For 3 nights, the restaurant & bar were dead with no atmosphere or welcome. The hotel is like a sinking ship, everything needs refreshing and refurbishing. Apparently there are new owners, although we never met any management, very best of luck this place needs significant investment to reach the standard advertised and paid for. We were desperately disappointed.
I liked the quietness and the privacy. The friendly and very helpful staff.
The rooms we occupied... the safe wasn't working, one or two of the lights weren't working... ok no problem. But when we requested assistance to have this seen to, we were told the maintenance person is not available and only returns on the Monday. We were there for the weekend.
The interior is very nice and the bedding excellent.
Supply of kitchen equipment and cutlery. A lot of the cutlery and plates were insufficient. I would recommend the coffee, tea etc be better, I think for a 4 star you need to better equip the kitchen area.
The setting of the villas and authenticity was wonderful. Villas were lovely too. Food was excellent and staff were friendly.
Hated the light switches in the villas, globes had blown and not been replaced. There were also crickets in our room. Also no dustbin in the bathroom.
