Wonderful views; beautiful, tastefully appointed accommodation; Guy our host was extremely charming and helpful; quiet location; excellent quality breakfast, beautifully presented. Everything was perfect - and we're very particular travelers! Highly recommended.
Nothing at all!
Great location, nice views, very modern, nice pool and garden area. Perfect for relaxing on the comfy loungers. Guy and Joane are such nice hosts and we had a very warm welcome. We will defenetely come back and can really highly recommend it.
it's a fantastic place to stay in or near Capetown. You get offered all the friendliness and convinence of being and feeling home. Guy and Joanne are perfect hosts, including their little sunshine Cloe. Guy knows all the places to go, being it for sports, wine or else. We felt like staying with friends we would know for quite some time, which in reality was only 5nights. We blindly advise anyone to try for oneselfs.
Explorer Guesthouse is a wonderful find for me and I will definitely be back. It is well located with lovely views, beautifully decorated with lovely attention to detail. Guy and Joanne's enthusiasm and knowledge is wonderful and make perfect hosts. Such a beautiful area with so much to do and a lovely guesthouse to come back to at the end of the day, perfect!
Waow, we had a great time there! We love outdoors activities and we were in the middle ot it all. Beautiful mountain-biking in a nearby reserve, awesome kitesurfing down in False Bay, endless walking possibilities in the wine yards! All this after a gorgeous breakfast ( ask for the poached eggs, one of the specialties of our hosts)and a restful night in the comfortable, spacious and pretty rooms. Wine lovers, fine restaurants seekers will find themselves in a true paradise! Joane, Chloe and guy, thanks again for your warm welcome and your passion for your guesthouse is really felt in all the details. Bravo! Will be back someday...
Very welcoming and helpful people. Beautiful situation. Close to Cape Town Airport.
We liked the place very much. The breakfast was very good and the owners could not do enough for you. We would definitely go back .
The guest house is located in a very nice area of Somerset West.. There are bright, big rooms for the guests and the place has got a very beautiful interior and design. Full English breakfast is served in the garden just beside the pool. A good start of the day. The host and hostess did the best for us and we really felt the kind atmosphere and the hospitality. We got very valuable information about different interesting sights in the area. We are happy to recommend this guest house as one of the absolutly best. Our rating is 10.
A great spot to stay in Somerset West. Close to the beach, to the mall, to famous vineyards and to excellent restaurants. The Explorer Guesthouse takes care of its guests in an excellent way. Very relaxing. The owners have done everything for our family that we did not only feel as guests but like friends. We can recommend the Explorer Guesthouse in the highest way.
What a Wonderful stay at the Explorer Guesthouse!! It has a fantastic location with a Stunning view of False Bay. I loved watching the sunset every evenings. Guy & Joane and their little Chloe are amazing hosts! Who truly have put their heart into the guesthouse. They make sure that you feel right at home and have the perfect suggestions for restaurants and wineries to visit. Extremely helpful for making bookings or whatever you might need or like. The Bedroom is very cosy, nicely decorated. The kingsize mattress is super comfortable with a choice of 4 different pillows! And when you slide into the duvet you really feel like sleeping in a cocoon. There is also a walking closet and a little kitchenette very convenient! All rooms are looking onto a nice garden and swimming pool. And what a Breakfast!! A nice plate of fresh fruit platter, freshly pressed orange juice, croissants and choice of different breads, a cheese platter, home made marmalades and not to forget : eggs prepared in 3 different styles and always super tasty! To top it of, all products are local! Cannot wait to come back!!
Ideally located nearby the winelands, Explorer Guesthouse is the perfect hub for visiting the Cape Town region, its wineries and starting off to the Garden Route. This newly opened guesthouse offers very stylish and spacious rooms with direct access to the garden and swimming pool in a beautiful and quite area. Guy and Joane are wonderful hosts making their guests feel at home, going the extra mile to provide them with the best suggestions for day trips, restaurants and must-see curiosities. Excellent breakfasts were served either in the very cosy and design dining/lounge room or on the terrasse. Thanks to Guy and Joane, we had a memorable trip and enjoyed every second of our stay. No doubt we will be back very soon and enjoy this great place.
My stay at Explorer Guesthouse was simply amazing. Being in South Africa, in Cape area was already incredible. But Somerset West, where Explorer Guesthouse is located, is just the perfect location. Very close to the city of Cape Town by car, it also allow you to see the most beautiful landscape, beaches, wineries in the region. But above all, this guesthouse gives you the feeling of being at home, offering you clean and gorgeous rooms, very comfortable. The staff is more than friendly, and makes you feel comfortable as soon as you arrive. They also know how to leave you quiet, and provide you the best advice to visit the area, have lunch in the most amazing places and meet great people. Guy, the owner, took me a morning for a mountain bike ride in a nature park and I know not many people would invest so much of their time for their guests. One last word? Go there, see and experience by yourself how great it is when Joane, Guy and their little daughter take care of you!
What a great contemporary style modern guesthouse! My husband and I stayed at the Explorer during our recent holiday trip to discover the Cape. It’s a fantastic location that offers a great hub to do many different outings, whether it was visiting the various nearby vineyards, golf courses, Stellenbosch or the seaside, beach or going hiking. It’s has a nice view and I loved coming back in the evening to relax around the pool or in the very cosy lounge area. Its contemporary, modern and fresh style has the flair that resembles a little bit like a boutique hotel yet with a warmer, more personal touch that makes you feel very welcome and relaxed. The family and staff was ultra- friendly, very accommodating and had great tips about what to visit and where to go.
I wish I could have stayed much longer!
What a beautiful house run by beautiful people. Living in Cape Town, I stayed at The explorer just one night, but it was enough for me to feel in holiday, at home away from home. The rooms are spacious, elegant and cozy, with a enormous comfortable bed and bedding, opening in a communal garden and pool area. Joane and Guy are very friendly host and will make you the best breakfast ever with a great choice of fresh food. My favorite part is the sunset, from the garden you have a fantastic view on the sea with the most colorful sunsets...every day!!!! I recommend this place and its wonderful people to everyone! Will come back soon!!!
Really nice, joyful and easy-going people who enjoy what they do (and are good at it). And they do know nice restaurants and good wineries ;-) Very calm setting, with a nice view on False Bay from the garden/pool. Location is easily accessible from the airport (20 min down the highway). Very central starting point for day trips to any location (but a rental car is recommended). We spent a total of 5 nights as a starting and ending point of a 2 weeks trip touring the Western Cape, and we will certainly come back.
Nothing we could think of.
Spacious, beautifull rooms, nice breakfast, very helpfull hosts. A warm and cosy base for exploring the wineyards of Le Cap..
We were welcomed and treated so nicely by Guy and Johanne that we felt at home. Premises are brand new and spotless, while location is perfectly quiet and close by car from both cape town city and wineyard coutryside.
What a great hub for visiting Cape Town and the Western Cape! My wife and I stayed in this wonderful newly opened B&B for 2 weeks. Located at a foot step of the vineyards, it was perfectly located for exploring the wine area including the Garden Route, Cape Point and the Western beaches. Guy and Joane have been amazing hosts. They know South Africa very well and recommended us many off-tracks destinations and not-to-miss day excursions. They suggested many charming restaurants across the region and wine tours with local aficionados. The house had a magnificent view overlooking the False Bay and a relaxed atmosphere that made us feel immediately at home. The rooms were very comfortable with a fresh stylish design and an African touch. The breakfasts were delicious with homemade jam and prepared with a special touch by Joane. We had a wonderful time and will come back soon…
