Zimbali View Eco Guesthouse is located in Ballito and is 5-minutes' walk from the beach. It features a plunge pool and rooms with views of the Indian Ocean.
Score from 7 reviews Exceptional
A rooftop pool is behind Gateway’s characteristic green ‘screen’ surrounding the front the building. This eco-friendly hotel is attached to the Gateway Theatre of Shopping.
Score from 264 reviews Very good
Located in Ballito on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, this 5-star luxury boutique hotel overlooks the Indian Ocean. It has an outdoor pool surrounded by landscaped gardens and offers spa treatments....
Score from 37 reviews Excellent
The location and general ambience of the hotel is awesome. One thing is for certain, is that you do not feel as though you are still in Durban.
Where do I begin.... 1. We had booked 2 rooms and upgraded 1 of the rooms to a suite. The suite had a damp musty smell with terrible odours emanating from the sinks in the bathroom to the drain in the shower. Guest services are useless so don't even bother calling them from your room phone as they take forever to get things done. I had to eventually get a hold of room services myself for them to sort out the room. So guess what, all they did was drop a few pellets into the drains and handed us an air freshner bottle to continue spraying in the room for the damp smell to go away. We eventually were fed up of the stench in the room and requested to be moved. We were now inconvenienced as we had to repack to move to another floor with NO assistance from staff nor an apology from management. The 2nd suite we were moved to was a bit better however also had a terrible stench of rotten fish left over in the fridge which goes to show housekeeping are not taking their job seriously. So we once again contacted guest services and once again got no joy. Eventually 45 minutes later someone arrived to remove the fridge. 2. Breakfast at BBC - staff messed up the order...drinks arrived after breakfast was served... 3. Rooms had no 'do not disturb' boards and as a result housekeeping barge into your room unannounced. This was brought to managements attention however they give you this 'dumb' look as though something is wrong with you. 4. The concierge never had a clue on anything you asked them. They had to always ask each other before they could give you any answer. My final comment - some of the staff need serious training on customer service!!!
Nice rooms, great view and general facilities
Service want the best ever... And the shower's hot and cold sides were mixed up!
I liked the reception and pool area.
I didn't enjoy the room as much as I expected. The room has a cold feel. The tiles are too much in the room. The room almost feels like you are at Breakers Resort. For the price and the 6 star claim, the Interior Decorators could have done more. This is ito fixtures and fittings and decor.
1.Hotel is wonderfully and professionally designed with an excellent location and breathtaking views. 2.Service levels excellent in all areas from the golf course ,reception, dining, name it. 3.The food was excellent.
That we couldnot afford to stay longer.
I enjoyed the private walks on the beach, the place was pure comfort, the beds were amazing value for money!
staff was every helpful but they should improve on communication amongst each other, there were a few times we would ask for someone to get our car ready and the message will not be passed to the guys that fetch our cars. the coffee shop staff were a bit slow, we ordered coffee and cake, it took them over 20min to bring the cake after they had brought us our coffees. other than this my family enjoyed the stay and would definitely come back
The room was spacious, with beautiful outlook over the resort and sea views!
Cleanliness of the King Room was not very good, outside Balcony floor and Balustrades dirty. Sink drainage very poor.
walking at the beach
a bit too windy
The offensive smell in the room but it was excellently clean
Check in good, efficient and quick. Rooms very spacious and clean. Close to everything so could enjoy Ballito Village All staff were very well trained and polite.
Beds not too good, kiddies extra bed terrible only a blanket was given did not keep them warm. Sun lounges at the Beach Club SHOCKING broken and stained Bad monkey problem (try a feeding station we are doing this at our schools and it work extremely well). So many great pools but only facilities at the beach club ... such a pity.
Loved Absolutely everything. Very pricey but worth every cent! Was treated like absolute royalty and apart from 2 incidents an all-round relaxing breakaway. Try the chocolate tart for room service and the Cinnamon and Pineapple Frozen Margarita around the pool. Also pack your own champagne coz you are going to want to sip on it looking at the view out your window.
1. A negative was the spa staff pushing their products onto us whilst and after our massages. What was suppose to be a therapeutic experience felt like a sales session ending with an uncomfortable situation when we tried to, unsuccessfully so, decline the R400 a bottle product. Total bill for 2 massages and 3 bottles of I'm-not-completely-sure-what-it-does = R2,400.00 2. On checking in we were informed that breakfast was included in our rate. Then when we went for breakfast the bill would come where we were charged (both days). On enquiry the waiters assured us this was normal and that it would be deducted from our final bill on checkout. On checkout it was not deducted and the reception assured us it was not included. The manager decided to remove it so points for a good recovery but still. Not cool.
noisy restaurant, not adequate to the expected getaway environment
The hotel is beautiful, the gardens and grounds immaculate. Good service all round- enjoyed my stay.
Housekeeping and incorrectly charging for in dining service
Location and facilities brilliant
most of it...
no flyscreens so we could leave the balconydoor open
They washed and dusted the room thoroughly when at reservation I stated I was very allergic to dust. I was impressed. Plus the Spa agreed to give me a ring 20 minutes before my appointment. Loved everything about that hotel.
the staff are well trained and meet your every need
room are spacious Valet attendants very friendly Loved the deli !
could not get a newspaper anywhere in hotel to read Waited 35 min for coffee and cake Lights in bathroom didnt work and water wouldnt flow out of basin Friendly Suggestion : Let your manager stay in Oyster Box for 2 days .
Room size and comfort, and great location! Location of bath tub and views - perfect
To take the service to the next level, get waiters to sample the restaurant food to help increase their knowledge and provide confident food recommendations when asked to. Other than this, absolutely nothing to fault!
Everything except the lack of a heated pool This is incredible resort.
Not one heated pool so you really could not swim despite warm weather. There are at least 15 pools in this resort. Just one small heated pool would have made a huge difference to the experience - and would probably increase visitor numbers out of season.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable especially the bed. Room service was superb.
Having travelled quite extensively the value for money was not good. everything seemed over priced and there is room for a basic a la carte restaurant. Not all has to have a theme.31 degree was understaffed.
We liked everything, from the food to the location. Staff were very attentative and accommodating. Property was well maintained, room was clean and everything worked.
Zimbali estate sales people, everytime we walked passed we were accosted to take a sales tour and listen to their sales pitch. We were there for R&R.
The reception takes long before answering calls and WIFI access from the room was a great struggle.
