THE GATE THAT TRIED TO CHOP MY CAR IN HALF
I REALLY LIKED THE FRIENDLINESS OF ALL YOUR STAFF
Very friendly, helpful staff
it was Christmas so the neighborhood looked a bit dead, but I guess it would have been the same everywhere
charme; location; staff very helpful
A little oasis in the area of Melville very near to restaurants and small shopping complex. Wonderful welcome from owners and staff. Excellent accommodation. Lovely garden and small pool area.
noisy room (between lobby and breakfast room) almost no bathroom door
Everything about this place is great! The breakfast was superb, the location is brilliant and there is ample parking for your car. The room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The staff are available 24/7 should you need them for anything and were helpful and friendly. I stayed there about a week and was delighted, will definitely stay there again.
Location, attention to guests, breakfast, overall value for money.
Staff are incredibly friendly. The room was just perfect and great value for money. The whole area has a fab atmosphere; cafes, restaurants, antique stores and a bookshops, I spent half a day just wondering around the area.
Nothing to fault
the decor in the rooms was lovely and the breakfast was incredible. The free wifi worked very well! The owner and his son took offered tours around the city which was very convenient, slightly expensive but good quality.
We really enjoyed the hospitality offered by the owners and the delicious breakfasts. The room was very nice- spacious, comfortable and clean. Melville is a nice neighborhood as well, lots of nice restaurants and some shopping. We highly recommend taking the Apartheid Museum/Soweto Tour offered through the guesthouse - Pierre, the guide, drives you to many different prominent Soweto historical sites while offering stories and facts and also enlists local Sowetans on certain parts of the tour to take you through their part of town, including Kliptown, the oldest and poorest part. Overall an unforgettable experience.
The WIFI is overly complicated. You can connect only one device and that pops up an annoying window (which doesn't work well on mobile). I hated it.
I like that they were very flexible and organized a tour at the last minute.
Friendly staff.nothing was too much trouble.good location.excellent breakfast
Felt safe, staff exceptional, breakfast varied and plentiful. Bedrooms had all facilities including tea making and iron. Secure car parking.
The room was terrible
The property is lovely. The owner and staff made us feel welcome. Rooms have all the information you need about the local area and Johannesburg. The location was secure and within walking distance to delicious restaurants and unique shops. Breakfast was wonderful with several healthy options. The internet was the fastest we experienced during our month-long stay in South Africa. We will return to stay here during our next trip to Joburg.
In our room the shower didn t work well
Breakfast, location, good staff
Very pleasent.Friendly staff. Safe neighborhood.Owner was extreamly helpful.Overall a great place to stay.Loved the Dog and Cat.
No shower in the room, only a bath.
Huge, comfortable bed, great service.
Rooms a bit too cold in this season (Windows have been kept opened before our arrival)
Quiet neighbourhood, nice breakfast, free Parking, nice staff
The internet access was a bit patchy, and not helped by the fact that we were each given one-day access passes when we were there for 5 nights. They had the habit of running out late in the evening, just when one felt like checking email but it was too late to get another password. There were week-long passes available, so I'm not sure why we weren't given them at the outset, seeing we'd booked for so long. Also, if you want a lie in, don't book Room 3 - I needed to be up early so it was fine, but no matter how quiet the staff were, the clunk of the gate woke me at 630 every morning!
The breakfasts were the best I've had at a hotel or BnB - it was very tempting to linger - and the staff were very pleasant indeed, learning our menu preferences quickly while remaining unobtrusive. The attractive rooms had everything we needed, including electric blankets on the comfortable beds (most welcome), and rusks and coffee. Security was good - a parking bay with electric gate was available for our hire car the whole time. We were based at Wits during the day and it was about 7 minutes drive in peak traffic. Some wonderful restaurants were within 500m or so but didn't make the place noisy. The owner was very accommodating when we needed separate invoices, having paid one deposit. All in all, a great place to stay.
Not very helpful in getting in a tour trip with more people. Ended up touring alone.
The staff were extremely and extra friendly. Makes you feel at home. The breakfast was very good, but mostly was the room. It was great, confortable and very clean. I would go there again in my next trip.
We thoroughly enjoyed our very warm welcome at this guesthouse. The breakfast was excellent and we were able to arrange tours easily from the guesthouse. The staff were always courteous and helpful and we can recommend it to all.
An absolutely charming place! I felt so at home at the Ginnegaap, meeting Corlien and the rest of the wonderful people (and the awesome cat). It is very near to a lot of shops, restos and such. The guesthouse definitely made my dream trip to Johannesburg truly one to remember.
Never seeeing the hostess
Great guesthouse, met our needs exactly, pleasure to stay with Corlien and her team. Thanks
