Location near many shops and shopping centres, and UCT. Friendly reception by the owner Sue. Very nice set of complementary goodies. The room I stayed was very roomy.
Like all properties in this part of Cape Town, this is also rather cramped: parking space at a premium; perimeter wall just outside the windows...
Warm welcome by Sue. Legendary service by staff; courteous, obliging staff at breakfast. Promptly contacted regarding clothing left behind.
Everything in order
We liked the nice congratulatory gift we got as newly weds. We liked the friendly and high level of service we got from Sue the owner. She went out of her way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Even when we checked in the Friday night at 22:30 she was awake and ready to receive us. Deon
Warm hospitality and great value for money
The cold weather!
Too much furniture / clutter in the room
Facilities suited my needs completely. Very comfortable bed and lovely linen.
Slightly expensive for a single person. For a person staying for a longer period, would recommend larger fridge.
The guesthouse is located in a nice neighbourhood and has wonderful views and verandah.
The room was lacking space to a certain extent (there is too much furniture in it).
Nothing too much trouble a really friendly place
Good and convenient location with off street parking. Spacious room with good facilities including kitchen and outside patio. Peaceful, secure and generally comfortable. Freshly laundered bed linen and towels.
The place felt rather grubby and poorly maintained with a general impression of being rather tired and neglected. Furniture and paintwork chipped and knobs missing. Swimming pool very dirty. Bedside light not working. Electrics all supplied via a jumbie of extension leads and multiple adapters. Twin bed configuration not in place despite this being confirmed long before our arrival date. No hair dryer in room. Generally needed a good repaint, rewire and spring clean, and rather better pre-arrival checking of rooms by the owner.
Great B&B in Newlands - a lovely residential area just on the other side of the Table Mountain. Spectacular views of the Mountain were included in the Art Room. Location provided truly easy access to the N1, N2 and M3 and thus to downtown Cape Town, Constantia and the Stellenbosch wine region. Wireless worked fine and room was equipped with everything anyone could ever ask for, incl. fully equipped kitchen, plus a braai in the back yard for general use. Owner (who lives on site) and staff were absolutely fabulous - very attentive and super nice! We would stay there again for sure!
I liked the bedroom and its set up. Customer services of the owner were excellent, starting with acknowledgemt of my booking to directions and hospitality.
I did'nt like seeing someone sleeping at the lounge just next to the dining room. That sort of spoiled my appetite for breakfast. The fact that the waiter was wearing a soccer t-shirt when he started serving me and later changed to a uniform made me question the cleanliness standards of breakfast.
We were made to feel very welcome by Sue. The facilities were all good and we liked the convenient location.
I enjoyed a wonderful extended stay here and was made to feel very welcome. Sue and family were very kind and accommodating. The room was clean, well-equipped and came with beautiful views of Table Mountain through the skylights. The location is great, right in the heart of Newlands and close to both Kirstenbosch and UCT. All in all, I highly recommend Glenhaven and can't wait to come back.
Loved everything. Perfect location and really good value for money. Facilities were excellent. Battled a little with the Wi-Fi signal but this could have been my computer.
Location is excellent, the room was spacious and Sue made us feel very welcome. We loved being able to use the pool and the whole experience felt like a home away from home - really relaxed and beautifully decorated.
Wi-fi works, but the signal is a bit weak in the room we were in
The owner is so kindly, and the breakfast is so nice, the room is clean and comfortable,if next time I go to cape town, this is my first choice.
Location and convinence
Room was a bit hot. Bigger bathroom. And allocated parking bay
A warm, quiet country-side experience.
Jen is the most hospitable person ever. I highly recommend Glenhaven to everyone! I won't stay anywhere else when I am in the Newlands/Claremont area.
I spent a week here and cannot fault the hospitality and location. Sue made sure that you had everything you needed and the room was spacious. Breakfast was everything you needed.
The only thing that wasn't perfect was the cleanliness. The bathroom ceiling was covered in black mould and you could see that someone had wiped the walls as far as they could reach, leaving very obviously filthy marks near the top. The walls and ceiling in the bedroom were so dusty that they had actually created little dust bunnies and by far the worst was how disgustingly filthy the walls in the kitchen were. I simply could not use the table as the wall next to it was so covered in food and oil splatters that had been there a long time. If they could just get the place cleaned properly this would be a top class place to stay.
i especially loved the homeliness of it. good value for money and no rigid rules. i liked the little things like a bottle of spring water everyday in the fridge, a little caraf of sherrie on the housew and other little things that are on the house. it has privacy but also an opportunity to mix with fellow guests at the breakfast table. and the equipment in the room is fantastic: dstv, a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, stove and even a washingmachine. i would certainly reccomend it and go there again.
Spacious and good location.
Only swing bar type door on bathroom. Skylights let in light.
Feels like home, great stay!
