The views, walks, scenery, food and easy driving to the surrounding areas.Your river area is a real bonus.
Suite balcony needs a table and a couple of more comfortable seats. The bathroom under floor heating should surely be switched off for summer - unless you are using your own generator?.[still don't know where it is switched off and on!].
Beautiful location and decor. Spa treatments were excellent. Gourmet dining at the Eaves restaurant.
'River-facing' suites don't actually have a view of the river. Room not timeously made up. Very early checkout time.
We came for a romantic getaway and everything I asked was catered for, the food and staff are fantastic
Food excellent, and staff really friendly.
Everything was wonderful, from the staff to the accomodation, the food and peace and tranquility.
The spa was very nice and staff friendly. Was just a little dissapointed in the pedicure. But otherwise loved my spa treatments.
We enjoyed the friendly welcome and service, the relaxed setting and beautiful gardens, the breakfasts, the homely bistro meals and the cheese boards.
The fine dining experience was disappointing. Nor did we appreciate discovering the 3 night midweek special on arrival after booking two weeks in advance and paying significantly more than we should have.
Wonderful setting. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent food and wine. Stunning room, bathroom and views.
Rooms are lovely. Staff most helpful and attentive.
Was not mad about the menu at the Bistro.
Comfortable rooms and good food
Very slow service I.e. Rooms not made up by 2:30 in the afternoon, also whiskey bar not as advertised on web site and not staffed, long wait for table at breakfast
Rooms were beautiful, comfortable and clean. Attention to detail in rooms 10/10
Having stayed there many years ago when it was owned bythe Poyntons my expectations were high. It has grown substantially from 5 to 34+ rooms and lost its personalised feel. We could have been at any 4* group/chain-hotel... Nothing wrong with it but I personally would not go back.
The new Deluxe suites are very comfortable and tastefully decorated. We also had dinner at the fine dining restaurant and Chef Shaun really put on a show and his cooking is outstanding. All the staff are very friendly from housekeeping to the waiters and managers, well done and will be back again.
Constructive perspective: For a fine dining restaurant that has such an impressive wine cellar I was disappointed with the lack of knowledge the waitresses had on wine etiquette. Our waitress could not make recommendations and did not even know how to open the bottle and made us both taste the wine before pouring so. The absence of a sommelier was surprising to say the least. The music and ambiance was distasteful, listening the stale music of Michael Bolton on repeat for 2 solid hours was painful and spoiled the romance. The décor was very outdated Biggie Best style. The restaurant was also very hot and stuffy with no windows or air-conditioning . The only thing that saved the evening was the delicious food. The place is very peaceful and the sound of staff conversing on two way radios which was blaring in the breakfast room was also not relaxing, perhaps they need to get ear pieces instead.
Rooms were excellent and so was the food at a fair price in the Bistro!
Beds were too short
Real class with old world charm and friendliness
The Spa it was wonderful.
The reception desk.Lacking skills and technology.
quiet setting excellent main building bedroom position on river bedroom and bathroom layout
diifficult to get share water temp right.
The spa us works class , I loved the river walk
The look of upstairs dining restaurant. Musty smell
Friendly helpful staff
Upstairs location of restaurant
Innovative and tasty breakfasts; excellent menu (Bistro); Chef Sean's tips on what to order; all staff exceptionally pleasant and discreet; spa facilities; beautiful surroundings; spread out lounges for guests (no crowding); smoking lounge with TV; cleanliness and 'special touch' of bathroom (cup of oil and bath salts, variety of towels, flower "finishing touch", beautiful big bath; shower head!
Nothing really. The best, most relaxing 3 nights I've had in many, many years!
Great Service from the Staff and the food was excellent, the wine list is as good as they rave about themselves. The old style Bar had a great atmosphere. The fire place in the room is great and cosy when fired up on the cool nights
My favourite thing about Granny Mouse is the setting - the soothing sound of running water, the enchanting gardens, the busy birds, the views across the river to the hills. The rooms are discreet and private and immensely comfortable. The small attention to detail is enchanting - pansies on the face cloth, chocolate on the pillow, the lovely scents that pervade the rooms. The food was fabulous. The staff was delightful - unobtrusive but attentive. Congratulations! Marguerite Oosthuizen
Hi Lovely stay..Just that scones at breakfast were stale...But I tell the waitresses and they apologised profusely!! Regards Sandra Monaghan
Luxury touches which made the accommodation special
FOOD - dinner was excellent
Reception say we can have breakfast from 6h00 - we arrive early to see it is only from 7h00 - staff done very good to give us something to eat
For the price we paid for the room we expected more. R1800 for 0ne night is not cheap and although the room was pleasant enough it def did not warrant that rate.
