The suite was quiet and the "private garden" was much appreciated. The manageress was as helpful as she could be (she got up at 4a.m. to see us off). The breakfast was good and suited our particular taste but was set with no significant choice which might not suit other people.

The "hotel" is much more like a guest house with no dining room apart from breakfast. One advantage of a guest house is the detailed local knowledge of the management. This is completely lacking at Helderview as the German Manageress is completely new to South Africa so we had to to do all our locaL research for ourselves. German is the dominant language of all notices and there is a severely limited range of English language TV programmes.
