Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Forest Lodge is located in St Lucia. An array of activities can be enjoyed on site or in the surroundings, including cycling, horse riding and snorkelling.
Score from 12 reviews Very good
Set above Lake St Lucia Lake and surrounded by the magnificent St Lucia Wetland Park and the ocean, Lidiko Lodge is a peaceful, 4-star retreat with great services and facilities.
Score from 34 reviews Excellent
Located in the green coastal area, in the heart of Zululand, the AmaZulu Lodge has a warm African atmosphere, a pool, and rooms with patios.
Score from 78 reviews Very good
Located on the shores of the St Lucia Estuary within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, Elephant Lake Hotel features a restaurant and a bar leading out onto a viewing deck, where hippos can be spotted.
Score from 10 reviews Good
The location was excellent and the staff was very friendly.
-The rooms were not clean enough. -The electricity saving is a good idea, but the card activated automatic lights are annoying.
The situation closed to restaurants and supermarket.
The windows which need to remain closed, the bad smell under the sink.
Very nice hotel ... but hard to objectively score due to waterproblems
We didn't get a pricereduction for the inconvenience of not being able to shower or wash up. Would have been a nice gesture.
Great place Lovely facilities
Hope the water crisis in St Lucia is overcome Would love to return for a proper stay
staff were great great location beautiful sunsets good apartment
single room was very.... single. bit of box.
Excellent self catering rooms and big open areas for children to play. Perfect place for families. Supermarket directly across the road.
We booked an 'Estuary Facing' room. The room was indeed facing the Estuary but there is no veiw of the Estuary at all.
Hippo Hideaway is very central to all attractions in St. Lucia and Cape Vidal.
Our 2 units were right at the entrance to Hippo Hideaway and while it was not busy it was not noisy. Sure in season it would be very noisy in these units. Units did not have any view whatsoever. The windows were opaque glass backing onto the carpark area. Pictures that are shown on-line are misleading, making it look like you have a lawn in front of the units and that they border the estuary. Out of about 20 units only 5 are on the lawn bordering the estuary. The rest open onto a concrete braai area. Cleaning staff were poor.
I really enjoyed the warm welcoming. The fact that HH is located at the centre of everything. We stayed in the Honeymoon suite and felt like royalty. Thanks to the friendly staff with their smiles!
I think it would help if there was a more secure parking because it feels like the cars are located outside the actual facility. Something like a fence or gate for the cars.
The place was good what I like was it was a very peacefull place
Very central. Close to restaurants and within reach of the beach and the wetlands. Accommodation was spacious and well-appointed. Wi-fi allowance was adequate. The accommodation is self-catering but is serviced daily.
We had a unit overlooking the lawn, lovely peaceful location where hippos visited us twice - priceless!!
big rooms, all eqipment needed for self catering is there, comfortable bed.
peaceful and conviniently located
WE booked for two adults and two small children, we were quoted and paid 50% deposit, at the reception they told us that we the booking company charged wrong price and we ended up paying R1826.00 more. No internet for 4 days, the technician is coming was the response. Reception office closed on Sunday and on the Holiday for the whole of the day.
No gate for parking area -inadequate security
Perfect location for exploring the Wetlands.St Lucia changes very little remaining an unspiolt area and long may it last!
The location, the setup, the facilitlies, with the hammocks and tables with benches and several fireplaces. Everything you need eg. shops, restaurants, markets are right across the street or a very short walk from Hippo Hideaway. St Lucia is absolutely beautiful and connected to the Isimangaliso game reserve...breathtaking. This is a trip I will never forget.
There was an issue with the lights vs aircon which caused us to spend a night with the lights on. We were in unit no. 12 where someone made a mistake in positioning the shower drain...not a major problem, but funny.
Having clean bath towels changed regularly. Got a 'Happy New Year' gift from the cleaner. Spar over the road and easy access to all the other shops. Security excellent.
It is a bit squashed. If one of the outside chairs go missing, you report it but they do nothing. Dish cloth was not changed until we asked for it to be changed. The blinds on the door is see-through, having accommodation in No. 1 which everyone has to pass.
- the staff was very friendly - the room was very nice and clean - the nigth watchers were present and very friendly
- the towels didn´t smell good
bedrooms are quite nice
the lounge is far to small.
Liked the free movement and hospitality.Beautiful surroundings.
Such an amazing place, in the middle of St.Lucia, but so quiet and peacful. The rom was brilliant. Had everything we needed and more. Staff were excellent. Just loved it. The bed was very comfortable. Satt outside in the evening in a hammock and just relaxed. It was amazing.
The weather, :-)
The location was great, within walking distance to all the restaurants and shops
I did not think that the place deserved a four star rating, the T.V for one was out dated, no T.V's in the bedrooms and no free Wi-Fi, and even though we paid for it it didn't work. Rooms decor made them dark.
Excellent location, close to day trip locations and restaurants. Value for money Clean Comfortable
Paying for wifi which then didn't work with my iPhone
very friendly staff . accommodation very comfortable clean and newly renovated rooms St Lucia and surrounds were a real "find" and we highly recommend a visit. The whole town is geared to looking after Visitors. e.g good restaurants. various tours
